I was introduced to the film work of Phil Mucci via the Das Muerte "All Those Delicate Cuts" and have been a fan of Diabolik Studios ever since. "The Duke" is one of the many kick-ass videos from the mad scientist minds at Diabolik. Their music videos are more like short films, that often need little or no dialog. Silent films with a heavy metal soundtrack added. The film for "The Duke" by Monster Magnet continues a Diabolik tradition of grind-house visuals tied to a wicked storyline of forbidden love, radioactive revenge, and unholy mutant powers. Like a Bond film, every Mucci feature promises a beastly beauty, and Kat David delivers in full force as the divine conduit for revenge, alongside veteran Diabolik star Ian Mackay.

The Duke Delivers

Warning: Spoilers
Monster Magnet and Diabolik deliver one of the best music videos of the year, 2014.
A great tune accompanied by amazing visuals reminiscent of the best work of Zach Snyder on 300 and Sin City. A plot, that delivers a sexier take on Akira, will have you watching multiple times, and by then Monster Magnet will own you. Not for the faint of heart or the prudish, this is rock for an adult audience. It's stunning how much America is missing out on hard rock right now.
I can't wait to see what Phil Mucci and crew does next, and hope they'll team up with Monster Magnet again for more great videos.
