Hard to Watch
Hitchcoc24 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
More byplay between these two horrid people. The old case is looked on with new eyes. It would appear that forces that never thought they would meet begin the steps toward congeniality. Alec continues to use Miller for his own purposes to get his own way in his old case. His health suffers more and more. The pacemaker that could cause his death is now an absolute necessity. There is more intrigue in court as the defense attorney presents no evidence. She simply makes up a possible alternate conclusion and sells it to the jury. Miller finally confronts her son. Beth and Mark are sailing farther apart and his basic dishonesty continues.

Some silly incidents but well done over all

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty defiant for Abby to hang about Olly's house, peek through his papers and be smug with Olly's mother. (Abby: "I'm shagging your son tonight!") Olly leaves his notes out? Might be a good way to throw the case, in either direction. I haven't seen the rest of the series yet so will have to find out.

Great acting, which is wasted on a messy script.

Jocelyn receives some bad news, but finally opens up about her health, Alec has to go in for an operation.

It's up and down, in the previous episode, I thought things were very much back on track, I did find this one a little muddled once again, it's like as if Chris Chibnall has created a multitude of strands, all of which will presumably be tied in the finale, but right now, they're all just hanging about loosely.

The scene were Tom gave evidence was fantastic, as was the moment where Ellie flipped, finally Colman got a chance to show off her acting skills.

Great acting from Eve Myles, but her talents were simply wasted on the character of Claire, who I now think is just irritating, she's badly written. That scene with the photograph, that would never had happened in a month of Sundays.

A mix of excellent and awful, 6/10.
