a nice nearly Sonic fan film
BertrandMartin10 April 2019
Searching episodes from the Sonic TV show on YouTube a few months ago, I discovered this short and funny cartoon by chance. The French director seems to be a Sonic fan, as we can see a parody of the blue hedgehog during about a quarter of the film. The hero transforms into Sonic to beat the bad guy who seems to be Mario, turning into Robotnik! Really nice! However, this cartoon is a bit short, as I would like to see more (the Sonic level is not very long) but the main idea is there. A whole film like that could be great!

One of the funniest Annecy cartoon ever

One of my favourite Annecy 2013 festival movies! Unfortunately, "The Cristal Gem" may be misunderstood as many people might take the movie solely at face value (coz it's dirty and raunchy), refusing to see the subtleties in it.

"The Cristal Gem" may seem vulgar, but anyway the antics are very funny and thinking about it, the plots are genius!

"BoOzy' OS" is mainly a brilliant satire. The toilet humour, the violence, and over-the-top the gross humour are mainly used to add a parody slant to the satire, it's as simple as that. Cartoons are not just for kids!

"BoOzy' OS and the Cristal Gem" will laugh you to tears, watch it!

Not bad, just a bit fast and short

Well, it's my turn to rate this rather popular animated short film.

My first impression is that it's beautiful: the colors are bright and the animation detailed.

But the film is very short, especially since it takes place very quickly. A slow pace would have been better.

BoOzy' rules!!
dam-marie20 November 2014
I Watched "BoOzy' OS et la Gemme de Cristal" during the Annecy international animation film festival last year and I must admit I was first very surprised...

At the beginning, I was asking: what is this? It's talking about fly and sh... OK it's gonna be funny!

And it is, during all the 5 minutes. Obviously, here is the problem : 5 minutes only... The movie is too short and too fast, but the movie is great!

I want more!!! And I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel... or a new BoOzy' OS movie!

Warning: Spoilers
"BoOzy' OS et la Gemme de Cristal" or "BoOzy' OS and the Cristal Gem" is a 5-minute animated short film from 2013, so it will have its 5th anniversary next year. Writer, director and voice actor here is Ken Arsyn and maybe this is his most known career effort as of today. It is a French production, but even if it says French for language here on IMDb, don't worry as there are only sounds and exclamations coming from the characters, nothing even close to resembling actual dialogue. The film references pop culture works like Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Avatar, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast on many occasions. Some of it was entertaining (Sonic), some of it was just there and other stuff disappeared to quickly to even appreciate it (Lion King). It is a pretty fast little movie and with the violence and obscenities nothing for young audiences. To me, it felt more fast than creative too. Every time the film tried to deliver artistically in its own right, it came short. Very. So overall it was just as messy as I expected when reading the title. I have not seen anything from the show this follows up on, but honestly, I also have zero interest to do so from what I saw here. Baffled by the film's rating and popularity here on IMDb. It must be a bit of a cult character in France. For me, it is a definite thumbs-down. Don't watch.

original

Nice animated short, mixing references to the 1990s such as video game characters and music style; the narration is a little confusing because a little fast, but the humor brings up the overall average, as well as the pretty graphics and the originality of the screenplay.
