I didn't expect a lot and got even less

Warning: Spoilers
"BoOzy' OS et la Gemme de Cristal" or "BoOzy' OS and the Cristal Gem" is a 5-minute animated short film from 2013, so it will have its 5th anniversary next year. Writer, director and voice actor here is Ken Arsyn and maybe this is his most known career effort as of today. It is a French production, but even if it says French for language here on IMDb, don't worry as there are only sounds and exclamations coming from the characters, nothing even close to resembling actual dialogue. The film references pop culture works like Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Avatar, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast on many occasions. Some of it was entertaining (Sonic), some of it was just there and other stuff disappeared to quickly to even appreciate it (Lion King). It is a pretty fast little movie and with the violence and obscenities nothing for young audiences. To me, it felt more fast than creative too. Every time the film tried to deliver artistically in its own right, it came short. Very. So overall it was just as messy as I expected when reading the title. I have not seen anything from the show this follows up on, but honestly, I also have zero interest to do so from what I saw here. Baffled by the film's rating and popularity here on IMDb. It must be a bit of a cult character in France. For me, it is a definite thumbs-down. Don't watch.
