Unusual subject matter, excellent production value!
MariaAllred27 March 2019
Watch this film to be absorbed in the not-oft explored word of olive oil production, and its purity or lack thereof. What starts as a twisting curiosity turns into a dark and violent suspense. I must say I felt happy when the main character, played by Ted Harvey, got what he deserved. He was a selfish, cruel man and the performance by Harvey was absolutely committed. The film twisted into territories I didn't expect and I appreciated that. And I really loved the score. Definitely worth a watch!

Cold Blooded
mentalrev2 September 2019
Cold Pressed pulls back the shade on a crime syndicate that I knew nothing about and explores the limitations of greed and forgery. An ensemble cast delivers a gripping story that will keep you engaged until the very end. Characters who are all to willing to betray each other in the pursuit of profit and petty desires create several storylines that operate in parallel with each other.

Gritty thriller
JGReviews20 February 2019
Cold Pressed is an indie thriller about George Leggierie, the owner of a restaurant and an in-demand olive oil label. George's greed leads him to take a deal for his olive oil with a sinister businessman, unknowingly sinking George into a deal with a very dangerous mob-like underworld.

Cold Pressed is a gritty film that felt like a throwback to gangster thrillers from the past, right down to the 16mm film grain. The film does a great job of showing that any industry can succumb to greed and turn violent if there's enough money being thrown around. I did recall reading in the news about how some companies were busted for using fake extra virgin olive that was supposedly from Italy, so it was interesting to dive into a fictional story that deals with that. I'd also like to note that I was a big fan of Ted Harvey's performance in the lead role. I'd highly recommend Cold Pressed for anyone looking for a good indie thriller!

Great Indie Thriller
Cold Pressed is a great indie thrill ride!! It's suspenseful and well done, is a bit of a throwback to gangster movies, but what surprised me the most was the setting of the story within an olive oil company. The performances are awesome and the direction is smart and cutting. I really enjoyed this and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves movies, it's fantastic! Bravo.

Interesting Subject!

I knew very little about this subject, and I was pleasantly surprised how well this film was done. I was taken on a journey about the olive oil industry, and was totally immersed in this Indie gem. Intrigue and olive oil, what more could anyone want!

A thriller with a nostalgic feel.
cbax12318 September 2019
Cold Pressed is a fun thriller that explores greed, corruption and shady characters that are willing to do a whole host of things to get an edge on life. It's a fresh take on an industry that isn't always explored in film and well acted throughout. Get ready to go to places you wouldn't expect!

You'll never look at olive oil the same
mattsivertson17 May 2019
I really like the vibe of Cold Pressed, with its throwback feel an image. At the same time as it feels familiar it's also very fresh as it's told through a lens we don't see often, the olive oil industry. You might think that olive oil is pretty innocent (I did), but not after watching this film. I guess it goes to show corruption can exist anywhere. I was also shocked to find out that things in this film were inspired by real life shenanigans in the olive oil industry. Anyways, for a well done gritty drama that will make you think every time you reach for the olive oil, Cold Pressed is your film.

A fun thrilling ride!

This film sneaked up on me. It just kept building. It had a gritty element to it which I loved. It had very cool gangster eliminates but it wasn't over done or over the top. I really enjoyed the actors. I enjoyed in particular the male lead actor. I thought he did an exceptional job. Bravo to the director who kept the story moving at a good pace. I certainly recommend this film to watch.

A solid spiralling crime thriller!
Anmer9327 July 2019
A solid spiralling crime thriller with an impressive ensemble cast, inventive visuals and a tense foreboding atmosphere, in this film crime is anything but smooth, it gets real messy. Check it out.

a fresh take on a time-honored genre
JoshSegel6 March 2019
This gritty drama has a great old school vibe and tackles greed and corruption in a way that makes the themes truly resonate. Guided along by a steady hand at the helm, this engaging character-driven thriller is buoyed by strong performances and sharp dialogue. It nicely ratchets up the tension and draws you in more and more as it progresses. The craftsmanship across the board is pretty first-rate, all resulting in some truly solid storytelling.

Indie Crime Drama with Olive Oil
caseykilloran13 March 2019
I loved the new take on the mob story. I also liked the olive oil part of the story. A unique take on the classic mob/crime drama. It is also shot in a way that feels vintage which give the whole piece a strong feel of old mob films. Bravo!

Classic Crime Drama...With a Twist
TheAll-SeeingI19 February 2019
S. Viknesh's Cold Pressed shows a bit of mild genius even before we get started: We've seen this film before when constructed around drug smuggling and other platforms of organized crime, but here Viknesh chooses a legal and seemingly innocuous trade - olive oil importation - and shows us that our corruption of a regulated system and our thirst for controlling trade lines elicits human behavior no different than those we see around their highly illicit counterparts.

The family tree of Cold Pressed clearly traces back to films like Scarface and The Godfather; not just in theme but in aesthetic tone. We see 1970's-evocative muted color tones in the film's finish; a subliminal masterstroke which leverages those great films in subtextual homage. An obvious student of the crime genre's history, Viknesh has also demonstrated the critical importance of male casting at the epicenter of these violent power struggles: With Cold Pressed, he's nailed that time-tested requirement, as Michael X. Sommers and Ted Harvey offer the prerequisite contrast of push-and-pull tension.

"We're not dealing cocaine here, Bobby. No one needs to get hurt." No surer guarantee in film that someone is about to get hurt, and when they do, it's presented with the classically bloodied gangster stylings our inner voice has come to demand from the genre. Indeed, that's a great thing. With Cold Pressed, Viknesh presents something that we're drawn to both because of its familiarity and its concurrently fresh spin, and in doing so, he succeeds in delivering a film that owns its own space in a historically illustrious field.

A good watch
johnapplebee-9594719 February 2019
This is a very solid movie. Even though it's not based on a true story it definitely makes u think about the crooked side of these oil companies. The story and the acting was solid and it keeps your interest throughout. Definitely a good watch

indie thriller in an unusual setting
jblockbuster9 September 2019
Very solid indie crime thriller. The interesting subject of olive oil does make for a great setting, and also otherwise the film everything it needs to grip your attention: great cast, storyline, good cinematography and direction. Have a look yourself!

Seriously refreshing twist
Phil_Chester7 September 2019
The world of Italian gangsters in the USA. However, these gangsters aren't running numbers or peddling drugs, but dealing in dodgy olive oil. Quite unexpected. It's just as absorbing as any crime drama, and the lesser known subject matter gives the genre a seriously refreshing twist. Recommended.
