not a smasher but
ops-5253527 June 2019
Its a triangular drama, and the partakers has to accept the realitys whether they like it or not. it basically a one location story, with 3 actors , one sneak peeking and hiding while viewing the surveillance cams he has placed around the house, and his girlfriend making out nwith a stranger, and dives into adultery in a swell of happiness.

its a basic product, but with good actors, who knows their lines and moves, and the filmographic quality and by viewing the daylight in the background tells me that there are some degree of profesionalism in the making of thie avelanche of broken trust and feelings.

its the kinda humour you either love or hate, i didnt like it but neither hated it.

i paid special attention to the music dept, with omri lahav behind the tangents and strings. he is an extremely gifted musician, that i got in touch with after viewing him at youtube, playing the theme songs from the pc game jazz jackrabbit on his electric guitar, that gave me goose bumps all over.

so if your in for a sublime sedat and a bit raunchy movie with some tiptoed comedy then the grumpy old man can recommend

This film totally cheered up my Thursday night! I think this film would make a great sitcom. Fun indie film recommended!

Zzzzzzz

Really poor film. Bad acting from all apart from the main character, frustrating and such an anti climax. There are better films to spend a couple of hours watching.

Smart and Entertaining
sylvias_in735 July 2019
The review on Critical Popcorn pretty much nails it. This is a smart, well thought out and extremely well acted film. Kudos to Savante, Withers and Emery for taking chances on a low budget independent film. The writer/director deserves credit for being brave enough to write something that we don't see much of anymore. A provocative, funny, extremely clever, artsy, dark comedy. Avalanche surprised and entertained me.

A quirky take on a familiar, albeit kinky subject.

I went into this one completely out of the blue - not knowing a thing about it, and found a movie that looks at infidelity in a way that I hadn't seen before. Production values are solid, as is the acting, especially by the husband/librarian character. Some character motivations and flashbacks could have been clearer, which I think would have helped the overall narrative and clarified character motivation. Also, I found some of the score to be a tad irritating in spots (intentional, perhaps?), but I enjoyed watching Avalanche unfold.

I liked it
cheesesandwich-5024322 July 2019
Shocked to see the score on this movie -- I liked it, you know. I think the "not a smasher guy" was onto sumthing. It's not for everyone, I get that, but it has things in it that everyone can enjoy. Patience. It's not a super hero movie. And I thought the first half was slow, but when you get to the end, it's like it all comes together. Like it all makes sense. You get this full feeling and you like and hate the characters all at once LOL

Very solid for an indie film
casperbooh1 July 2023
Funny, engaging, genuinely good performances by everyone but Gideon Emery as Greg was the one that stood out the most to me. And no, I'm not just saying that because he's naked, sexy, and super buff in this (though that's definitely a plus). His comedic timing is very good and he's also very good at playing the nuances of Greg. The 2 issues I had with the movie were the dialogue being a bit cheesy/predictable at times and the pacing, as it felt like the movie dragged towards the end. But overall I still enjoyed it, for a low budget indie movie I was pleaseantly surprised with what they achieved.

a powerhouse for such a little film

Warning: Spoilers
My dears, it is not perfect, no, but it is close. Absurdism at its best. You are not rushed in and out of the story, nor told how to feel at every moment, nor montaged through genuine character growth. You are instead dragged through the mud alongside three very beautiful and very horrifying people. People like us. And their pain... it broke my heart at times, it made me laugh at others, and it made me want to spit at the screen sometimes too! They are helpless, all three of them, just mice trapped in a maze of deceit! And yet, is it not lovely that they all try to work through their issues with one another? That is, even if someone has to die. Oh yes, my dears, someone always has to die :)

a nice indie flick
graciesaysay20 August 2019
Came across this movie after diving into Indie movies recently. I was impressed by the cinematography and acting, the writing was funny but slow at times. It can't be hard to set up a whole movie in one location, though. I ended up googling "one-location" movies after watching this one and loved some as much as this one.

Impressive blend of comedy and melancholy!
Anmer9310 September 2019
An impressive blend of ridiculous comedy and melancholy. Indie comedy's are so hard to Pull off but if you're up for a quirky, off the wall and oddly endearing film then this is a decent choice, funny script, good performances and loved how the gags seem to overstay they're welcome at times, making it so much funnier.

Engaging indie
debijohess28 September 2019
You have to admire indie filmmakers who often must rely upon good storytelling without all the bells and whistles that big studios have. Avalanche has done a great job of crafting an engaging drama/comedy all in just one location. It holds your attention and is cleverly plotted and executed. Actors were on point and I was thoroughly entertained throughout.

A fun quirky film with witty dialogue and characters that are complicated in the best way. I laughed, I cringed.

Witty, fun and unpredictable
sarahjayneportelli19 February 2021
When I went in to watch this and I saw how the story opened I thought it was going to go one way, but it totally went a way I didn't expect. It was not a predictable story. Overall the film was fun, the dialogue witty, well written and delivered with precise comic timing from the impressive cast who were really solid throughout. I particularly loved the chemistry between the husband and wife characters, the little moments they shared together were nice little snippets. As a filmmaker myself I really thought the pacing moved the story along well and the editing in the chaotic scenes between all three characters in the same room was well done. Watch this film to see something really different, witty and well acted.

an enjoyable take on human depravity
cheesewhizsayz28 July 2021
It takes a certain amount of ingenuity to create a "bottle" movie in one location and keep it interesting and entertaining. Was very impressed with the dialogue and engaging performances from the actors. Good dark comedy helps you laugh at painful things and identify with the characters, even if you hate them a little bit too, and Avalanche delivers here.
