The script thought a lot inside the box and forgot that without the outside there would be no inside

Warning: Spoilers
Important information is missing from the film about the cloud, such as why doesn't it go into cracks? What happened to the animals? Who takes care of the plantations? What happens to all the garbage that people produce in their homes? There is a lot of omitted information that would make the experience better and more believable, improving immersion. About the narrative part, most of it is very cohesive and presents great reflections, but the ending is bad, she felt sorry for her son (whom she brought into the world) and soon after decides to kill herself leaving her son without a mother. It's not a bad movie, but it had the potential to be much better. 6/10.

Unusual

Someone on here says this isn't original and apparently there is another film with similarities entitled A Breath Away, though it seems to have many logistical flaws according to some of the reviewers on here. Looking at the trailer, it seems to be somewhat of a different animal with a lot more action, more special effects and a lot more outside scenes. I might take a look. I didn't think there were any real logistical flaws within this bizarre scenario of two people who meet for a one night stand while the world is covered with deadly pink clouds and they cannot be exposed to the toxic air or they will quickly die, so this is where they stay. Not that a immense of a problem, but for how long is the real issue. The entire rest of the film takes place in this apartment. For something with such a limited scenario, this becomes really interesting. This event just goes on and on and they are forced to live their lives together until this ends, if it ever does. Beyond their relationship shifts over time, both good and bad, there are plentiful stories here as seen through cell phones, tablets, people in other windows, etc. What we see through these lenses are also fascinating. This is a very well directed film that wastes little time with setups to get to a point. The editing is exceptional and there are a couple of very solid performances from the two principals. It's sad and sometimes it's even lovely, but it's mostly peculiar. I am glad I stumbled upon it. It's very intriguing.

Locked in ... or out(?)
kosmasp13 March 2023
No pun intended - the movie is seemingly a sort of remake from a french movie (Hold your breath) ... which I did watch ... before the pandemic did what it did to us I reckon. And watching this after all the things that went down ... well truth indeed is stranger than fiction ... still the movies can come close. This being on example of that.

Maybe you ought to check the movie that came before this first. Maybe you should be aware of what the movie will be about - pacing and otherwise. This is not an easy watch to say the least. But it can be worth it - the human drama, the questions ... the reality of what it would do to a human psyche. And that all with the knowledge that we still would have way more options than people before us. You could find things to spend time - or waste time with ... interesting concept, even if reality was not as grim (fortunately)

Rip-off of a French movie
henferdeline7 September 2021
This movie is a rip-off of "Hold your breath" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5092380/ ) . Same setting (a toxic gas is released, people have to stay home to avoid dying), same despair.

It is a shame that it is being portrayed as something original - even worse that some say this movie anticipated the pandemic.

Beautiful film about boredom and despair
rubenm23 April 2021
In India, spouses only get to know each other on the day they marry. I don't know if that's true, but it's what Giovana tells Yago half jokingly, because they are in a similar situation. The two were planning to have a one night stand, but they end up being locked in an apartment because of a poisonous pink cloud that hangs over the city and makes it impossible to go outside.

The film shows how Giovana and Yago cope with this situation, when the pink cloud doesn't go away and the confinement becomes permanent. It's much more a character study than a disaster movie. The camera doesn't leave the house and what happens in the outside world is only shown in news reports and online videos watched by Giovana and Yago. The director is.mostly interested in the psychological process of being locked up with someone you can't escape from. Are we a couple, they ask themselves at one point. They are, but only because they have to be.

The screenplay is very imaginative: in spite of the boredom of being locked up, all kinds of things are happening between the two. This film depends very heavily on the acting, and especially the female character is played very well. Giovana is much more emotional than Yago, and actress Renata de Lelis is completely believable in showing her growing despair.

The photography is also very well done, with lots of soft colours and subtle lighting. The pink cloud itself is quite beautiful, in spite of it being extremely deadly. The film unexpectedly has an extra dimension because of te pandemic and the confinements, but even if covid wouldn't have happened it's a very original and engaging film.
