A great show and a great Xmas Special. Lee hopes to gain a whole bunch of Brownie points by putting on an unforgettable Xmas for Lucy and her parents, with Daisy in tow as well of course. The setting is a big spooky house in the country, a family abode belonging to Lee's recently deceased auntie. Soon as they arrive strange things begin to happen, and things are more compounded when Frank, Lee's dead beat dad, turns up in the latrine!

The standard comedy tropes of the writing that made the show successful are evident here, the constant sexual tension, Daisy doing doofus and Lee's on-going battles with Lucy's father. When the spooky shenanigans up in intensity, so does the comedy. This is an episode where all the characters get a script to showcase their respective strengths. Excellent. 9/10

This is great stuff - Scooby Doo style mystery combined with the sharp wit we have come to expect from Not Going Out.

Gag after gag is performed with such skill, Not Going Out really does have more jokes crammed into it than other British sitcoms have in their entire series (hi Mrs Brown).

It does falter a little towards the end, but this on the whole was very nice indeed.

Can we now have S8 onwards released on DVD please??

What happens when you mix Not going out, Christmas and a haunted house? The answer is one of the most hilarious comedy episodes ever made. The writing is absolutely genius, after a slow few minutes, it really transforms into a laugh a minute, gag after gag, hilarious one liners, huge credit to Lee Mack, this really is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Bobby Ball is a scream fest, and his delivery is magical, he's just brilliant, Geoffrey Whitehead delivers his usual cutting, sarcastic remarks with true gusto.

This one feel like the end of an era, as the show would be very much transformed, with a new fresh feel.

Christmas comedy joy 10/10
