As April has a major accomplishment career wise, she gets some setbacks in her personal life.

Warning: Spoilers
With April, timing is everything and of course the cancer has come at the worse time since something major at work has happened for her. Two things in fact. But while her sacrifices pay off when it comes to her job, her personal life is hitting an increasingly bumpy road as she preps herself for cancer treatments. And while the show has only shown Nicole Ortiz in the intro for the last few episodes, it seems with one character's possible exit it may mean her proper introduction is forthcoming.

Topic 1: A Therapist in Distress – Sara

With Sara worried about April, and April growing increasingly tired of Sara's overbearing ways, it has caused a rift in their relationship. One which only increases the anxiety of Sara since now she feels out of the loop not just when it comes to April's health, but her successes as well. In fact, really she and April barely talk throughout the whole episode.

However, April isn't oblivious to her mother's feelings and needs. It's just as selfless as Beth says April is, she isn't willing to bend over backwards to her mother's desires. So, after venting to George, he tries to step in and help Sara. Something which is sort of appreciated, but at the end of the day it seems what Sara truly needs is a therapist for she is so overwhelmed with the idea of someone else close to her dying, that she can't take it. And while it might be an odd concept for a therapist to see a therapist, pretty much that is the recommendation multiple people. Now, whether she will see a therapist or not is the question. Much less if she may not push for family therapy.

Topic 2: Dating, But Not Committed – Brenna

In a Kieran-less episode, we watch as Brenna begins exploring her feelings with Greer. Not directly, at first, mind you. For with Greer justifiably upset Brenna made out with a guy on her bed, she doesn't feel like dealing with Brenna bringing drama into her life. However, with Brenna slowly becoming more open about her feelings when it comes to Greer, including coming out to Beth, April, and her co-workers, it seems those, like me, who ship Greer and Brenna have reason to rejoice. Especially since Brenna gives a full out apology, her and Greer tell each other their feelings, and they we see them kiss!

With this kiss though will certainly come drama for even if Brenna isn't dating Kieran, they do have something going on that surely is beyond just being friends. Not to forget, she also works at his tattoo parlor so it isn't like just breaking up with him will mean that it will be a clean split. At the same time though, based off how Kieran has been as an interim partner, I can't see why she would want him over Greer. For while there is an issue with Greer being rich, at the same time she seems more in tune with Brenna's needs and I think would be a better choice. And not just while April goes through cancer, but in general. After all, their chemistry is undeniable, especially during that kiss.

Topic 3: Bad Timing – April & Brenna

Despite having cancer, and despite Racquel, April gets her first by- line! Though it is a sort-of gift from Leo, who possibly bestows a 2nd gift onto April, so there is the question of whether these showings of kindness may get to April in the long run. After all, thus far her biggest article has been low-key things for the guy who covers weird news. So this is a big deal and with Dominic and her taking "a break," since he will be gone 4 months, you can see how this opens the door for Leo getting closer to April. But what perhaps matters most about this by-line deal is that when Lawrence finally recognizes her, and says she no longer needs Racquel as a middle-woman, she has to tell Lawrence she has to go on medical leave. Which could slow down, or maybe even stop, her career just when she has reached a major milestone.

Though the bad timing doesn't end there. As the office celebrates April's first by-line, Brenna goes in April's desk and discovers Natalie Ortiz's photo. Forcing April to reveal all she knows and you can see Brenna go through the same cycle of emotions April did. Leaving us with just one more topic: the fertility treatments. As noted in the last episode, the ability to have babies gives April hope for the future. But, said hopes get dashed a bit due to a hefty price tag April can't afford. However, at the end of the episode the bill is paid off by someone anonymously. Of which the most obvious choice is Leo, though a part of me hopes for a wild card to shake things up a bit.
