This is his town, and he will steal your ice cream

Warning: Spoilers
Continuing on the fast pace development from last episode, Teresa and Ben are approaching Wayward Pines. They investigate Ethan's disappearance without the finesse or resource of clandestine agency but they still precariously make progress. Shannyn Sossamon as Teresa proves to be a good choice. She might not have the answers yet she seems genuinely invested in reuniting her family and protecting her son. Chemistry with Ben is presentable, it's an honest relationship, especially considering the bizarre condition they are in.

Development for this family works pretty well, ironically because they are portrayed with many issues. They might banter with each other and react emotionally, though this is a poor choice when faced with mysterious threat, it adds more depth instead of the usual family in peril angle. A few other supporting characters also have their own moments, nurse Pam continues to be flirtatiously creepy and Kate's alliance is divided.

The lime light shines brightest on Terrence Howard. As the sheriff he presents unnerving confrontations with his typical ambiguous threats. However, as Ethan persists in his effort of finding an exit and consequently undermining his authority, he becomes more sinister as well as gradually resorting to outright violence. There's also a hint that there might be someone or something that control Wayward Pines beyond Sheriff Pope.

The show takes advantages of its cool atmosphere by offering quaint shots of rainy day, the few streets light in contrast to cloudy dusk is very visually pleasing. In a different view to the natural scenery, this episode has one set piece where it seems rather futuristic or dystopian, as though seeing the inside of theater setting.

With the fast pace the show has been going, The Burkes might just see what's actually beyond the walls and pleasantries.

Interesting show and commentary

I cannot begin to tell the story like like some of the other viewpoints I have read but I have learned a trick recently while viewing other shows on imdb; That is to look at the user comments before and during a show to pick up hints and insights. It has really helped me in understanding the story. Any story.
