Harrison's Backstory
After Harrison, for so long, being the big brother who we knew nothing about, we finally begin to get hints of his past, mostly courtesy of Cyrus. You see, Cyrus knows damn well that Harrison is the only person who has the power to sway Olivia's mind, for she has thus far been given no reason not to trust him. He is the big brother, or the step-in father figure without the baggage attached. However, the past we have only got hints about is brought up by Cyrus and seemingly the name Adnan Salif, a criminal, is the only thing standing between Harrison's loyalty and Cyrus wanting Olivia to abandon Josie. Thus making for one of the few times we have seen Harrison truly uneasy, for you can see he is willing to do whatever to maintain his position with Liv and the company, even to the point of asking Huck for a favor, but with his opposition being Cyrus, there is a serious question of whether he can stop Cyrus, or just simply slow him down?
Olivia
With Olivia now knowing about project Remington, and Fitz involvement, she gives him two chances to come clean, and he says nothing. Mind you, all the while he tries to court her into joining him during this, making you wonder how come the man willing to give up the presidency just last season, now can't answer a simple question. Then again, the whole situation with Olivia's mom seems rather complex, so complex that it is easy to question if Eli even knew about it, assuming he was even in B6- 13 back then. Still, we don't learn much from the scenario, but do begin to understand how the loss of Olivia's mom has had an effect on her life, relationships, and seemingly is one of the many reasons she may end up in A-A eventually.
Josephine Marcus
After a really good performance last episode, she settles down a bit, but still has that ability to roar. Unfortunately though, such ability required Olivia's manipulation of which, Candace, Josephine's daughter, caught. Thus making it whereas Josephine becomes more the presidential image Olivia foresees, she becomes less the mother Candace has known, and surely this is to cause issues. But, Lisa Kudrow continues to show that she is not a one-trick pony who maybe only remembered for Friends. I especially enjoyed watching her go toe to toe with James and pick apart the various bits of sexism which included the idea of having their interview in her home, using subtle language which pushes her being a woman before being a veteran after 7 years of service, among other things, and really perhaps speaking for a lot of women in politics who can't say what she did, for fears of losing voters.
Jake, Huck & Quinn
Jake continues to search for the truth and almost ends up dead in the process. You see, a woman who I think is Kim from last season, who shot the president, comes back and seemingly is looking to help Jake fight against B6-13, but is a traitor. Luckily though, in a rather odd move, Fitz had a detail on Jake and that man saves his life with a head shot. Thing is, with more and more people digging into Remington, Fitz is getting put on the ropes, so he demands that Jake stand down, and this is denied. So, Fitz tries to hit a low blow and say Jake is only really doing this to find a way to sleep with Olivia.
But, perhaps, the most interesting story coming from these three is Quinn's. For, as she continues to be treated like the intern of the office, she seems to try to find new ways to be useful. The first way was to learn what Huck does, and that isn't working out anymore, so now she has taken up guns and Charlie/ B6-13 have taken notice. Which leads to the question, is this part of Jake and Huck's plan, or is Quinn being followed, and perhaps trained/ approached with her just trying to find a place which wants her. I say this because she asks Huck if people leave B6-13 without being screwed up in such a way which makes you think she wants to join, and perhaps not because Huck/ Jake are prepping her to be a candidate.
Overall
I quite loved the episode. This election arc, including Sally's moves, is sure to bring quite a bit of drama, and who doesn't love seeing the root of Olivia's issues once she puts the white hat off? Then add on Harrison finally getting a back story and them developing Quinn, and then the question forms: What will they think of next? But, such is hard to fathom and with us only being 6 episodes in, and with 18 more to go, and 4 before the winter break, we probably ain't seen nothing yet.
