Classic formula, but enjoyable.
MIssM1921 March 2024
Madeline is a type A kind of person, she likes color charts, everything planned to the minute. So, when her fiancee leaves her five weeks before the wedding all her plans go out the window. She decides to be more adventurous and go on her planned honeymoon with her sister.

There she meets Mike, he is adventurous and just let's life flow. They have a meet cute, maybe not to so cute, and they later meet when they discover he is her tourist guide.

The movie started out great, it developed great, they go on great adventures and it's fun. The actors have great chemistry. I really enjoyed their banter.

The ending was disappointing for me. It makes total sense if you consider the journey the characters went through. But I expected better from Madeline. And maybe Mike deserved better.

I totally recommend this. It follows the classic formula of a Hallmark movie.

Lots of Good, With a Few Bones to Pick
athompsonblue19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The plotline is typical Hallmark. And it mostly works. Plus, the early bickering is funny.

But I took issue with a few things. For one, why should she expect a "Thank you" for dropping a dirty coin in his drink? For another, she really crosses the idiot line when she gets engaged again. Thirdly, I guess that one couple was going for semi-elopement? Or is that how things are normally done at Niagara Falls?

The Falls themselves are beautiful, of course. And I didn't realize there was so much tourist stuff to do there.

But, really, with a little tweaking, the story didn't even need the ex-fiance.

Another on-location Hallmark winner
allmoviesfan3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Niagara Falls is the backdrop for this Jocelyn Hudon (one of my favourites) /Dan Jeanotte vehicle and arguably should receive top billing with the two stars, as the scenery is nothing short of spectacular.

The plot is similar to what we've seen before: Hudon's Madeline is a very organised organiser whose fiance gets annoyed with that trait and breaks up with her five weeks before the wedding. And five weeks before their Niagara Falls honeymoon (which she has planned to the hour), so Madeline goes with her sister and there meets Jeanotte's Mike, a tour guide who is Madeline's opposite. He teaches her to step outside of her comfort zone...and of course, after some early hostility, they fall in love. It's your classic Hallmark plot, nothing new or imaginative.

However, "Falling in Love in Niagara" works thanks to the stunning backdrop - at times it's like a travel doco / love letter to Niagara Falls - and the chemistry between Hudon and Jeanotte, which is off-the-charts good.

That girl can wear blue jeans!
Racingphan223 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Jocelyn Hudon is just incredibly alluring here. And not just her blue jeans. She fills out her top more than most Hallmark heroines. I can't overstate just how incredible this woman looks. Her acting skills? Who cares?

Basically, like many Hallmark movies, they picked a location and applied one of their ten scripts to it.

The real star here is the Niagra Falls travelogue. The characters bounce from one tourist attraction to another. And there's great footage of the Falls. And look for the cameramen in the boat ride. Apparently they couldn't hide them.

Oh, and the sister is pretty too. The leading man? More boring than oatmeal.

A sweet romance with a fun plot
ilovefreddiem18 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have only seen a couple of Jocelyn Hudson's movies but she's different than some of the other Hallmark leading ladies. She's cute, pretty and funny. I didn't know that her costar Dan Jeanette was on one of my favorite tv series, Star Trek:Strange New Worlds. He's very cute and funny too. Great hair. These two made an adorable couple with a lot of chemistry. Several kisses not just one at the end. The movie took place at and around Niagara Falls. Beautiful location. She left a fiancé behind that dumped her 5wks before their wedding and who was self absorbed and didn't appreciate her and didn't bring out the best in her. She decided to take her honeymoon with her sister at Niagara Falls to visit the places her grandma told her about and to be more spontaneous. She met a tour guide who helped her come out of her "practical" shell and to face her fears and to be fun and adventurous. They had an exciting time together. He even wrote her a love song. She and her sister made some nice new friends, attended a wedding. The movie was very romantic. Not so many obstacles came between them. Just her ex fiancé. This is one of those movies I will watch over and over. It's of course a Hallmark movie with the happy ending which brings us all comfort unlike some other movie genres. It was a feel good movie and I believe most Hallmark fans will enjoy it.

Eccentric woman revisited
MickyG33322 April 2024
7.8 stars.

A quirky woman gets dumped 5 weeks before her wedding and is persuaded to go on her honeymoon anyway; but instead of going with her fiance, she lets her older sister tag along. While in Niagara, she ends up falling in love with a man who is dealing with his own emotional baggage. They don't get along at first (go figure), but eventually she warms up to him in spite of his standoffishness, and he tolerates her eccentricities. He is a tour guide who likes to be spontaneous, and he helps her be more impulsive and adventurous (she likes to make lists). She doesn't realize what a catch she actually is, because her fiance has belittled her for too long.

Hallmark finds it fascinating to paint a picture of a stunningly gorgeous and sophisticated woman as being nutty and unorthodox (she is somewhat of a control freak). No wonder her fiance has had enough. Although the actress makes the character totally endearing, a real person would make anyone crazy after a few years.

This is not how life works. We don't find women like this exhibiting these particular traits. It just doesn't mesh with reality. And then she meets a fun-loving and insanely good looking man, but he's just a defeated and disheveled shell? Again, it doesn't ring true, at least, not in the sort of environment or circumstances portrayed in this film.

Unfortunately, this installment of the Hallmark universe (I think this is Hallmark) is so eerily similar to so many forerunners of its kind. Frankly, I think they were foaming at the mouth to film in Niagara falls. I can only imagine it's probably one of the most expensive locations in the world for permits. I'm betting it was all filmed in the Canadian section. I know the skywheel is in Canada (online maps show it in Canada), but for the rest of the footage, it's all conjecture.

But whatever, I like the actors, because they were all charismatic and entertaining.

Swing and Miss
jiaidc21 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I dislike this movie. First, this is a retread of a previous Hallmark movie. This is "Two Tickets to Paradise" an Ashley Williams (2022) movie, except instead of Hawaii it is Niagara Falls. Is Hallmark so out of ideas that they need to copy a 2 year old movie.

The difference between the two is the end. The 2022 movie was more introspective about the reasons for getting married. This movie was just based on fear.

Ms. Hudon does something very horrible at the end of this movie. Instead of going to hear her love interest perform as she promised, she blows off the performance and takes a walk with her ex who shows up suddenly and she gets re-engaged.

When she hears that at the missed performance he had written her a song, she is not phased and waits in the lobby to run off with her ex-that is cold.

She finally realizes her ex is jerk and comes back. I don't think I could forgive a woman who would so easily blow me off like that. Her behavior comes off as being cruel and selfish.

In the end, I wasn't so excited about this pairing. A swing and a miss on this movie. Shame because I really like Jocelyn Hudson - just not in this movie.

Am I the only one
birdie141024 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this movie but it seems I am one of few. At the beginning of it, with the female lead character being over the top with her demanding ways, I was getting pretty annoyed with her. Why would Hallmark make her so annoying? I didn't like the fiancé any better and wasn't surprised by the break up. Also, the sister going with her on the "sister moon" was trite but then you find out about their chaotic childhood and a couple of things make sense. Going on and allowing tour guide Mike to show our lead how to enjoy an adventure was fun. It moved a bit faster than reality but it's not reality so just go with it. As usual with Hallmark, the ex fiancé shows up and promises he's changed, she's different and please come back! This greatly disappoints me because he shows almost immediately that he has not changed at all. In fact, he rushes her to pack and leave immediately. What he doesn't tell her is it's because he wants to play golf the next day. What I truly enjoyed the most in this movie is Jocelyn Hudon's energy and willingness to learn how to enjoy the adventures "Mike" has in store for them. Dan Jeannotte never disappoints and Jocelyn Hudon is always fun and energetic to watch. The beauty of Niagara Falls was awesome to see again. Last time for me was in person many years ago. While the writing wasn't impressive, this was a fun way to spend a couple hours when you can't go there physically. Worst line-"Jason" says ,"you're going to have to stop nagging me", while he was planning golf rather than talking to her.

Nope. Definitely not a rewatch
Shayay1922 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The female character is horrible! She should stick with her horrible ex-fiancé who broke it off with her because they are both no good. Her more than him, I was actually on the fiancé's side when he ended it because she was way too selfish with how she tried to make everything her way. I couldn't stand her already just in the beginning, and then when the fiancé comes back into the picture, she's just such a jerk to the lead male and some new friends she made. Her sister too! She totally lies to her sister. She promises to go to the lead male's performance, but doesn't when her ex-fiancé comes for her; she had just kissed the lead male too. Then when she gets re-engaged to the fiancé, he says he wants to leave Niagara right away, and despite the lead female saying she would go to some new friend's wedding, she quickly gives in and agrees to miss another event she promised to go to. Plus, what was with that super sucky karaoke scene; so bad. And the end sucked too! It's these people's wedding, and they are all worried about the lead female because she's not there. Then the lead female rushes in and everyone cheers! Oh what fun! Not! The fact the lead male was like I don't care that you were totally a douche to me and forgives her right away is just yuck. I'm sorry this one was just ugh to me! It gets 2 stars because it was fun to see some of the Niagara attractions. This one is definitely going into the I never want to watch again vault.

Disappointing heroine (for lack of a better term)
gigiramey22 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The location was beautiful. Can't tell the time of year this takes place, maybe spring/summer, since the main character is wearing more summer type clothes and the people in the background are wearing parkas and gloves. The storyline is typical Hallmark, I do enjoy my Hallmark movies, and seems enjoyable at first. The heroine is dumped by her fiance, check, for what appears to be her characteristics. Characteristics he has probably experienced first hand for some time, before their wedding and honeymoon. She heads off to what would have been her honeymoon with her sister. She meets a guy, check, and develops feelings for him, check. She starts falling for him, check. Then it goes downhill. You will notice this 3/4 into the movie, fyi. You realize that the female character is not one you are rooting for. I could not believe I wasted my time on this. I would continue but if you want to give it a shot, I wont spoil it for you, but you were warned.

Rushed, chaotic, nonsensible
Jackbv12323 April 2024
I often think that the setup in Hallmark-type movies is extended too long, especially when it is overdone tropes like this movie starts out. Come on, I think, get to the real story. Well this movie shows me that concept to a miserable extreme. Another extreme that goes along with that was the cardboard caricature of the jerk fiancé. Such a creep and he was bad from the first second on screen. (I'm sure the actor was playing it the way he was told.)

All this might be OK if the leading lady was OK. Jocelyn Hudon had definite moments of being likeable, when her character was halfway normal. In fact, she is one of Hallmark's most likeable young lady actors. She killed it in some of her outfits. But Maddie is more than just quirky. She is flat out neurotic and crazy. To make it worse, the movie rushes her through first neurotic, then normal, then neurotic again, then normal again. Some of the confusion might make sense since this is a woman who had been put down first by her parents (backstory) and then by her fiancé. Mike and her sister show her freedom from that. This all might have worked in the story, but the transitions were rushed and the traits were exaggerated. It all left me cringing. She makes instant decisions that are absolutely insane towards the end. Maddie's character arc was not the only thing rushed, but it was the most significant.

Hudon and Dan Jeannotte are good together after they get past the ridiculous meet-cute, which wasn't that cute. Their relationship is also rushed with a lot of screen time being spent on shots of them enjoying Niagra scenery. Niagra was the star of the movie.

Somebody put this woman out of her misery.
brand-5390922 April 2024
Worst yet! Idiot heroine. Must have loved getting kicked down. Don't want to see this type of woman ever again.

I would have loved to have pushed her over the falls. Get rid of your formula, Hallmark. Buy some new romance novels and make some good movies like you did years ago. Each time you think she is going to see the light she falls back into her old, safe ways.

The formula has gotten so worn out. We make bets on the minute the big blow up will happen. I win most of the time - you are so predictable. Why would he want her after the way she treated him? Would ha be given it 0 stars if it were possible.

Meh...
jpk-8464123 March 2024
Uneven movie highlighting the Niagara Falls region and its many attractions. The Niagara Falls setting offered the beauty of the falls, yet this movie often felt like a very long commercial for Niagara Falls tourism. The primary romance was sweet, however the secondary photographer/sister story line was abysmal and unbelievable. Too much filler and very little substance. Some of it was just so unrealistic it was hard to watch. It would have been nice if that whole storyline was eliminated and the main romance was developed further with more substance. A pet peeve I have with most Hallmark movies is rushed endings and that is the case with this one as well. Continue the story a bit further and its would be so much more interesting to the viewer.

Only Watched it for the Niagara Scenes.
trek98823 April 2024
I only watched this movie for the scenes of the falls. What is interesting is she spent a week there when pretty much all the activities can be done in a couple of days three at the most if you want to rush it. The cable car ride is realistic there are times when you can get on it and you are the only one on it. What I don't understand is why they didn't do the journey behind the falls or check out Marineland. They also glossed over how long the lines can be and how long of a walk it is to the viewing area at the power plant. The best view of the falls is by doing Journey behind the Falls. Unless you go in winter or fall you will never find the area by the falls that deserted. I also don't think they used any real Canadians, there wasn't one "eh" said in the entire movie and not one scene of anyone eating gravy on fries. What sort of adventure doesn't include a helicopter ride. As far as the actual story is concerned, if you've watched a Hallmark movie before then you already know what is going to happen.

Great Travelogue YES- Great Rom/Com Movie NO
videonutz22 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly this Movie was a Semi Disappointment!

As a Travelogue for Niagara Falls it was Excellent. But as a Romantic Comedy Movie it was Extremely Disappointing. Personally, I found it Extremely Difficult to like, or even care about, any of the characters involved. I actually found the scenery of the Falls, as well as its Numerous Attractions, to be far more interesting than the actual Story Line of the Movie's Plot.

The Lead Actress, while Attractive and Perky at Times, unfortunately, allowed her personality and inept Decision Making to totally destroy her like ability as a character in the movie. Additionally, Neither of the Two Boyfriends, especially the Ex, were up to the challenge of saving this Totally Unrealistic and Uninteresting Film!! Capping it All Off with a Ridiculous, Unrealistic, and Obviously Rushed Ending Simply Cemented this Film's Destiny as an Absolute Mediocre Movie.

The first 20 minutes were great. The last 60 minutes? Painful.
mzmmtdzxd27 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
  • The first 20 minutes of this film were exceptionally sharp. It was funny, relatable and really reels you in. Arguably the best first act of any Hallmark romcom I've ever seen. And I've seen 250+

  • The last hour was painful. I will describe this in equally painful detail below:

  • Script suddenly became weak. The initial meeting between the romantic leads had so much potential. But the premise for their encounter was eye rolling and poorly written. I can't stress enough how funny the pre-Niagara scenes were...and the complete absence of humor once they landed in Buffalo.

  • The romantic lead's relationship was bizarre. He was her travel guide. His boss was totally ok with his romantic gestures to the customer, who obviously was in an emotionally vulnerable position. He also became borderline obsessive towards her in a way that would scare away most women in real life.

  • The plot point where the sister was asked to be the photog for people she just met also felt implausible. I get the need to give the romantic leads space...but the way in was written felt ridiculous.

  • Except for the romantic leads (and her fiancé) - who all did great in their roles (all things considered) - the acting was super wooden. The secondary character's romantic subplot lacked even in the remotest amount of chemistry. It was so bad that it appears the director just tried to quietly wrap it up with a couple perfunctory lines at the end.

I could go on and on. There was a thread on the hallmark subreddit praising this film, and after watching the film, I've got to wonder if it was written by someone associated with the film.

Can't recommend it
vincentlynch-moonoi23 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's rare that I watch Hallmark movies...sometimes the Christmas season's flicks are okay. But this one I watched because I love Niagara Falls, but haven't been there in over 20 years. And that leads to complaint #1...the scenic photography of the beautiful Niagara gorge was very poor...looked to me like cheap drones.

The plot? Well, nothing new here. Well, maybe that's not quite true. It begins with the premise that the young lead woman is to rigid in her life and gets dumped just 5 weeks before her wedding and planned honeymoon in Niagara Falls. But she goes anyway, but with her sister, instead of a husband. And, of course, meets someone she hates at first, but falls in love with. Okay. Not bad. A bit mundane.

Jocelyn Hudon was perky enough as the female lead. I wasn't very interested in Dan Jeannotte as the male lead. And Chris Violette...he's an actor? No thank you.

So no, overall, I can't recommend this.
