I STILL Don't Believe Yolanda...
carebear-9227019 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So... in this docuseries, some "proofs" that Yolanda was really "innocent" in her doing... (like the 'mysterious letter she got in jail from the plastic surgeon doctor, & the so-called 'resignation letter' she had put away in the hotel room's safe).... Two things I'd like to point out: (1) She should've been asked if she went back to the truck after the evening prior to Selena's killing; I think this would've really cement (or defame) her aliby on the "accident" part; why do you ask? Because supposedly in the docuseries, she told Selena to go to her truck for the tax documents, however, Selena left back to Chris' truck & was clearly upset because the documents she went to get from Yolanda were clearly not there; if Yolanda did go back to the truck, then just *maybe*, her story would've made sense... (2) So I was surprised NOBODY ever pointed this out (because it has been pointed out before), the fact that Yolanda was an RN; if she had experience in nursing, wouldn't she had tried to HELP Selena? And why was Selena running FROM Yolanda? I think the fact that Selena was running from Yolanda meant that she was scared for her life, at that point, she knew Yolanda was evil, & unfortunately it cost her her life.... Tbh, I STILL don't believe anything Yolanda said in her "revealing truths", I feel so bad for Selena because we will never know the ENTIRE truth... and the fact that Selena was calling Yolanda in the weeks leading up to her death, really was a bit alarming, moreso because she didn't even know what she was going to walk into, the morning she went by herself to meet with Yolanda... 😕 I guess we will never know the ENTIRE truth, not unless they actually have interviews by Abraham Quintanilla, Chris Perez, the infamous plastic surgeon doctor, & everyone who knew both Selena & Yolanda... I feel like I wasted my time watching this... just because I feel like Yolanda will ALWAYS be guilty...

2 stars for effort
SuperCal4419 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm surprised that a documentary would be made put accusations on Selena!!

This is a documentary so Yolanda can try to persuade viewers that she is innocent and did nothing wrong. She tries to blame Selena and her Dad for her actions. Yolanda's niece and other family members are trying to paint a terrible picture of Selena.

Yolanda what more are YOU hiding? Why were you avoiding Selena? Why were you writing checks to yourself? Why did you bring a gun to the hotel? Why on earth did you need a gun to protect yourself from Selena? Laughable. Why did you lure Selena to the hotel? It appears that Selena lost trust and confidence in you as a friend and employee. And you knew it. Abraham knew what was up. Abraham didn't have time for your pettiness Yolanda. But Selena wanted to believe the best in her. Instead she gets shot in the back. Tragedy!

I thought this was going to be a documentary where Yolanda takes accountability. Instead she points the finger at others! She is only trying to gain sympathy for her parole hearing. Yolanda is still in denial. Not able to take accountability.

Yolanda you are in prison for a reason. Let Selena rest in peace.

2 stars because they spelled everyone's name right
acj-650041 March 2024
That's it really... they got the spelling right for everybody's name. Not sure why they made an entire documentary just to give Yolanda a chance to lie some more and show some crocodile tears. She murdered Selena, there aren't any doubts about that. I'm not sure why we need a whole documentary trying to empathize with a murderer and a narcissist.

What's the point of including her nieces and nephews? They don't know anything more about the trial or circumstances than anybody else. I guess that's the only potentially sympathetic people they could find? And that's the narrative they are trying to push for some reason. All in all, it's an unnecessary film that feels like a whole bunch of wasted time that I'll never get back.

Here's the deal
zrdkmpcb18 February 2024
Yolanda Saldivar killed Selena. That point is not disputed. This documentary wastes hours trying to humanize and essentially vindicate Selena's murderer. Yolanda Saldivar's prison interviews in this documentary are the crazed rantings of a woman who is physically incapable of admitting any fault or wrongdoing on any level. Her run-on narrative is shamelessly self-serving and begs us to pin the blame for her crime on anyone other than her. A jury convicted this woman based on facts and evidence. Viewers should ask themselves: "Does it matter if there were secrets shared between Selena and Yolanda?" This woman MURDERED another human being. Period. This documentary seemingly wants a new jury of TV watchers to reexamine her conviction. It will be a travesty of justice if this woman is paroled, ever. She deserves to die in prison, regardless of what irrelevant "secrets" were shared with Selena.

This Documentary Is hard to watch
jadalynnkerr20 February 2024
This documentary is hard to watch because this documentary is full of lies. Her own "truth" conflicts with what she has said in the past. Yolanda and her family's side of the story are simply trying to victimize her and ignore the fact that she is a cold-blooded lying murderer. She constantly says she didn't get to tell her side of the story as if she was silenced, but in reality told straight up lies even back then and made no sense for anyone to even care about what she had to say. This documentary was made to try to gain sympathy for a conniving murderer. The lies make this documentary hard to watch. You can see for yourself. Selena was murdered by a monster end of story.

Yolanda the Narcissist
micheyglez22 February 2024
This documentary was just a crazy narcissist ranting on about absolutely nothing. The family members just wanting to prove to everyone that Selena died by the hands of their AUNT and that they are the victims.

How were you showing your friend you were suicidal, she tells you to stop, she turns her back and the gun happened to go off??

If she's trying to stop you from killing yourself, she'd be shot in the front, if the gun went off by itself. Yolanda bought the gun and even practiced at the range. Here she lied AGAIN and said she didn't know how to handle the weapon. DO NOT GIVE HER PAROLE!!

YOLANDA IS WHERE SHE BELONGS!
angietexan19 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This show makes me sick and Peacock should be ashamed to show this documentary. The only reason it is coming out is Yolandas up for parole in 2024.

I remember this day like is was yesterday and will not forget it. Yolanda MURDERED Salina in cold blood by shooting her in the back while she was trying to get away from her. Yolanda followed her and chased her with the gun. This is not an "accident". This is murder. No one gives a crap about Yolanda, her bold faced lies, embezzling and she is the ultimate psycho. I hope she rots in jail and never gets out. She took a beautiful innocent life and she is going to try to spin her story. Disgusting.

Just trash
shevellehenry22 February 2024
I can't believe someone really produce this crazy mess. This lady is lying and trying to tarnish Selena name to gain sympathy because she is going up for parol next year . She got the gun and shot Selena in cold blood . Her family is also disgusting . Just a bunch of liars . That lil note that the niece was trying to pass as a love letter is what really made me convinced they all lying . Even if she was cheating or whatever secrets she had how did that give u the right to kill her l. Then trying to blame the dad is just sick . If anything this documentary is doing it's making Yolanda and her family look like a bunch of whack jobs.

I wanted to give it a shot.
loveislikeabrick18 February 2024
This documentary is too little too late. It's a desperate woman's pathetic attempt at a pity party. I don't speak on behalf of everyone, but I was under the assumption that everyone agreed that Yolanda didn't intentionally kill her, but regardless, she did though. All this sad documentary is going to accomplish is hurt Chris Perez and tarnish the name that millions have come to love and adore. I genuinely do not believe this story needed to he told. I thought it was gonna touch more on what was going through her mind or what her intentions were when she did what she did. Again, nothing but a drowning woman's attempt to drag someone else down, and they're not here to defend themselves.

Totally Useless Information
ryan-garza7420 February 2024
Regardless of all this 'new' information, the truth is this - Yolanda Saldivar pointed her gun and pulled the trigger that killed Selena. Plus she admitted it, it doesn't matter if she didn't mean do it, or if it was an accident or whatever. There's absolutely no use in trying to victimize Yolanda, she's a killer end of story. Dont try to change the narrative and start blaming Abraham, he might be the way he is but he can't force anybody to point guns and pull triggers. This is all on Yolanda and nobody else. She knows her parole is approaching so she's trying to change her image before that. What she should have done was keep her image quiet and try to parole and go live somewhere in solitude.

What did I just watch?!
QweenOfTheDarned8 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
First, let me say that, while I was alive and totally into Selena's music when she was murdered, I was very young and wasn't some crazed fan. I really didn't know a whole lot other than her friend, and fan club president, shot her. I watched the movie, I watched the show, so I was genuinely interested in hearing Yolanda side of things for once.

What... the... ?!?!

Was there more to this story? Sure. There always is. That being true, absolutely none of it changes annything about the events that occurred. The only thing this documentary did was show the world how out of touch with reality Yolanda's family is, and how badly everyone on "team Yolanda" still wants to smear Selena's name. I feel like Yolanda did this in some bizarre attempt to help her upcoming parole hearing, but I actually think it did quite the opposite. She takes absolutely no responsibility for what happened. You wait over two hours to get to the part where she explains how the gun went off, all the while being saturated with completely irrelevant backstory and gossipy, tabloid-like phooey... And when she does finally get to the moment... "it just went off!"

I'm happy I watched it because I always like to give all sides their due respect, but all it made me want to do is lineup outside Yolanda's prison and boycott her parole hearing. Someone who can't take responsibility for what they have done, especially something so heinous, is not ready to be let back into society. I was really hoping for some soul-searching on her part, and a deep dive into her psyche and her emotions as an attempt to take responsibility, apologize, and heal. Yeah... Well that didn't happen.

So many blind eyes
KaytlinRoque22 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So many giving bad reviews because they don't want to believe. But facts are proof. You weren't in that court room, they are providing the proof. The family stated they didn't want MORE backlash. And if Dalmer's family can get platforms, why can't a family show you, what WASN'T in the papers? Also, are you blind how the court process works? She takes responsibility for firing the gun, she accepts her punishment, she's telling the truth about what led up to that day, what many DONT know and many, like me, never heard! Don't give the movie a bad review because you can't be reasonable and open that you may have been fed incorrect information before! She never said she didn't shoot, she is saying that she didn't LURE her there, and the other facts the media played were incorrect. Stop being SHEEPLE!

She shot her in the back
deliver-413624 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Families of murderers need to stop being delusional regarding their criminal loved ones. They all do it, forever trying to make excuses for why their family member killed another. It's no different here in this story. All the high school-like drama that took place between Yolanda, Selena, Selena's father and the doctor in Monterey Mexico does not change the fact that Yolanda murdered Selena by shooting her in the back. Even if there were emotional circumstances between Selena and Yolanda, Yolanda still shot her in the back instead of walking away from Selena and moving on. Yolanda's family said Yolanda had received a job offer and was moving on, so why then did Yolanda keep going to Mexico with Selena? Was Selena using Yolanda for assistance in Mexico to expand her business or to help cover a blooming romance with the investor doctor? Maybe. Did Yolanda shoot Selena in the back? Yes. End of story. Everyone gets used by someone but generally the user doesn't get murdered. Now it is time for Yolanda's family to move on from this theory of there being more to the story. Seems very timely that they are trying to garner sympathy for Yolanda as her first parole hearing is in one year. Oh, and guns just don't go off. Give that one up right now.

She's still lying...
shortstella29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why wait until 1 year before she is eligible for parole to release this? We know. Why paint this false picture of Selena almost 30 years after her murder. We know. She is in jail for MURDER not being a "trustworthy" friend. Yes!!!! She was guilty right away. She KILLED Selena. "We can speculate on how the gun went off, but I wasn't there and you weren't there." Why was this production even allowed. I actually became more angry at Yolanda. She killed Selena. She is the one who bought the gun. She said she was scared for her life and that is why she bought the Gun. But was she scared for her life by Selena? I don't even believe the love letter from the doctor is real. I don't even believe the letter that was written to confirm Yolanda was assaulted is even real. She opened a lot of wounds by Selena's fans by doing this documentary. Wish Selena was still here. I still love her music.

A pity party
edgarrivas-9117025 February 2024
The documentary tries to justify a killers actions. It tries to muddy the waters by showing the relationship between Selena and her killer but fails to acknowledge the she is in prison for murder not for a failed friendship.

This documentary was not necessary and I wish I could get the time I wasted on it back. The majority of it was spent by Yolanda's family members creating a biased storyline to portray her in a better light.

Nothing that is shown helps clear up her actions that day and it feels like a sad attempt by a desperate woman to try and get some freedom since her probation is coming up soon.

Waste of time; borderline offensive
katiesheely25 February 2024
This " documentary " brings no new meaningful information. Yolanda is a garbage person who is up for parole and thinks she's trying to better her image. I'm sure her family who is on this just wants their family member back but so do Selena's family and friends and that can't happen. Yolanda's family is spouting all kinds of nonsense trying to get her out of jail.

The family is disparaging minor things about Selena which I found gross. I came into this not knowing much to the case. Yolanda and her family are grasping for straws.

This is a waste of time and a cash grab for the producers/Peacock.

I hope her parole is denied.

If her mouth is moving she is lying
ablondmoment20 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why was this even made? Yolanda should have never been so involved with Selina what a mistake that was. This woman is a liar I believe nothing out of her mouth. Yolanda killed Selina for her own selfish reasons. She should have got the death but instead life in prison. They should never let this woman out of prison ever. Yolanda is lying about getting attacked. Yolanda had the gun and called Selina over to her hotel she knew exactly why she was calling her over. This was what Yolanda wanted was to kill her. She shot her in the back that is nothing but a coward. This woman needs to stay her days in prison.

Disgusting
maggieh-4177820 February 2024
The fact that this even exists disgusts me you literally let a murderer talk badly about her victim. Guess what we can't hear Selena's side of the story, because Yolanda killed her the fact that this was made a year before she's released is so strange. I can't imagine anyone being able to sit in a chair and talk bad about their victim and about how everything was wrong for them Yolanda killed her and then went on to be chased by police for hours if she had anything to say to defend herself she should've said it back then. This entire thing disgust me people today still miss Selena not just for her music but for who she was as a person.

Disgusting. I'd give zero if I could.
katielynnu-9184020 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This docuseries is all lies. The facts are Yolanda killed and innocent person because she was found out for the liar she was. She had plenty of time to think of her "new found truths" some secret doctor and the resignation letter she had made up to cover her tracks. I see this as her parole is getting closer she needed to gain sympathy. By being an older lady once a nurse who was a loyal friend. But she talks down on the person she killed that she called her friend once before. When she got confronted she took things into her own hands making a fake resignation letter she knew she would never use. It's just a ploy to look innocent. How can you kill someone running away from you and call it an accident?! She played everyone by pretending to be scared of Abraham because she knew he wouldn't back down from telling the truth. Her family is blind to sit and speak on Selena's death as an accident. Whether she kept secrets for her friend like so many friends do for each other, does that mean it's ok to kill her when she calls you out? And this doctor really? He can say whatever where is Selena to defend herself? She said everything and anything to make herself the victim. Everything about this is wrong and should never have been shown to anyone because she doesn't deserve to be remembered by anyone. We will never know what really happened because the only other witness is gone. If she was so loved by Selena and Selena had her back why kill her and not the dad she said she was scared of? Total garbage.

Warning: Spoilers
!!!I wish I hadn't watched it finding out that the profits made from the show go directly to the Salvadar family. The Quintanilla family has no involvement with the show. Please don't watch the show and give money to that demon!!!!! There's no reason this should've been made. Yolanda and her family need to let Selena RIP! The whole documentary is Yolanda trying to make out Selena to be a liar and bring up her dirty secrets. It's been almost 30 years since she died, yet she feels the need to continue to put dirt on her name and reveal petty things that had nothing to do with the murder of Selena. And don't get me started on her pathetic "research team" that includes of her two nieces and nephew. The amount of disrespect put on Selena's name was disgusting. Definitely the worst documentary i've ever watched, my heart broke for Selena throughout the whole thing.

Warning: Spoilers
I think the timing of the release of this documentary was to make an attempt to get sympathy for Yolanda. This is a calculated release and it's meant to give more new information and the thing is. No matter how she twist the story she murdered Selena and nothing she says now will change that fact. She made a choice because she knew she was messing up and she was embezzling money and when she got caught she realized her free ride was going to stop. She was going to get into trouble and she was angry because she knew they knew what she did. She killed her because she didn't want her free ride to stop!

Warning: Spoilers
It's really disgusting and disturbing that this network would do something like this. Everything this woman says is a LIE!! Even that letter they show is a fabricated lie!! All this series shows is that Selena genuinely cared for her as a friend and she shot her in cold blood on her back!! Selena trusted her and you can hear on the voicemails she left that she was worried about her!! It's so sad that one of those voicemails was left the same day that Yolanda bought the gun. Selena isn't here to defend herself, but we her fans are, and she will always be remembered as the beautiful soul she was💜

There is always more to things than meets the eye
energlite6 March 2024
No-ones doubting that the lady didn't kill Selena. I have watched all the movies, TV series etc. But this threw a different perspective on things.

The review is for the documentary and not for which camp i fall into. The fact that there was other evidence that was not submitted or surfaced at the time is mind blowing in itself.

I do believe that the vast majority of cops want an open and shut case and move on to the next.

Would the evidence have changed anything in the criminal prosecution and outcome? Probably not.

However it does show how scared people can often do things they wouldn't normally do.

The government of the US should also take blame here as they have such relaxed gun laws. If it was not so easy to obtain one maybe this would never of happened.

If Selena let her friend go, then again maybe this would never of happened. If Abraham was not so controlling, if the doctor had kept a plutonic relationship...etc

People can speculate all they like and the reason we are all talking about this in these reviews is because this was a great documentary. 10/10 for the documentary.

Watch it if you want to or don't, but don't knock the producers for presenting to the public evidence and views of everyone, both for and against.

If you are one sided and think this is to benefit a person that has already served their sentence, then i believe you have missed the point of the documentary.

Disgusting
jackieandtodd26 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I remember this. I was almost 24 then. Still upsets me to this day.

This woman waits 30 years to so divulge these so called secrets and truth? Such a coincidence she may be up for parole soon. She murdered Selena on purpose period. If she didn't mean to shoot her, why did she have a gun, point it at Selena and killed her? This was no accident.

Yolanda's family are just as disgusting by defending her and making the excuse that Selena's Boutique was not making the money it was supposed to. Lies! Selena had a lot of young female fans and they loved her clothing line. Yolanda was stealing money from the fan membership club. The Quintanilla's found out when fans were writing them inquiring why they did not get the gifts they were promised. Yolanda knew she was screwed and we all know the rest of the story.

Yolanda needs to stay incarcerated for the rest of her miserable life.

A Heartfelt Reflection on Selena's Story
manuelfreitesf12 March 2024
I recently watched the documentary on Selena's life and tragic end, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts. It's a tough subject, and the film left me with a mix of emotions.

Watching it, I couldn't help but feel that the focus shifted away from honoring Selena's memory to something else entirely. The attempt to humanize Yolanda Saldivar, the person responsible for Selena's death, felt unsettling. It's like the documentary forgot the pain Selena's family and fans endured.

The reviews really captured the frustration that many of us feel. The film seems to sidestep key details and plays into Yolanda's narrative, almost rewriting history. It's disheartening to witness an effort to reshape the image of someone who committed such a terrible act.

I understand that stories can be complex, but this documentary seemed to emphasize elements that only muddled the truth. Instead of focusing on Selena's legacy and the impact of her loss, it felt like it veered off course, trying to generate sympathy for someone who caused so much pain.

In the end, I believe we owe it to Selena's memory to remember the truth and ensure that her story is told with the respect it deserves.
