Great documentary but very little performance material.
formulakaz13 November 2013
I missed seeing this at the cinema. I'm now glad I chose to see another movie instead. I was also planning on buying it, but chose (wisely) to hire it instead. It really was not what I was expecting. I knew it was going to be lot of documentary, but as I own her previous concerts she has released on DVD I also expected to see some amazing performances of hers on stage. Her concerts are thrilling.

On the back of the DVD it states "Rare live performances from April 2013 The Truth About Love tour in Paris and London. Celebrity contributions from Adele, Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera..." What that actually means is we'll get to see snippets of about 3 songs (totalling around 6 minutes) and see the other artists in footage taken from media conferences at various times.

Great documentary, with a lot of interesting information that may be previously unknown, but don't watch this expecting to see a lot of her in action unfortunately.

Annoying background music
gshemi24 March 2022
Not a bad programme but the constant rubbish background music got annoying for some parts you couldn't hear the talking over it. Worth a watch though if you are a pink fan.

Poor documentary

I love Pink so much! I dont feel like this Documentary did not do her justice. There was hardly any of her music played (I'm assuming due to rights issues), there weren't a lot of moments of her speaking, you barely saw her preforming, and there wasn't a lot of people in her personal life talking. When I watch a documentary, I don't want to see a bunch of people from a whole other country speaking on behalf of her. I could barely understand them and the music playing over the people talking made it worse. This documentary was all over the place, telling her story all out of order and focusing on random parts of her life and her career.

Great documentary about a great artist!
Mrobinson860926 November 2013
Pink is one of a kind and that is made abundantly clear throughout this slick documentary/retrospective of her career. The thing that is coolest and most refreshing about Pink is that she has remained real and has not changed. Throughout the documentary she comes across as real, down to earth, and not afraid to speak her mind, something that is lacking in most modern day pop princesses. I have always been a fan, but after seeing her realness in this documentary I found myself not only loving, but respecting her as an artist as well. The other cool thing was listening to people talk about working with her. The glowing praise proves that she is a one of a kind diva and a breath of fresh air!

Pink nicely documented through the years.
samsmom040726 November 2013
I really liked this film. I like how we get to see her career from beginning to current. One thing I learned in this documentary was that Pink was an R & B artist before she became Pink. I had no idea. I probably would never have got to enjoy her music if she stayed R & B. After watching "Pink: Staying True", her songs make so much more sense to me. I understand what she meant and was going through while she wrote the songs. We learn that she fought hard to let the world know the real Pink. Looks like it paid off for everyone. The interviews are really good too. The documentary shows you interviews and clips from when she was a teenager up to now. So you really see her "grow up". She is still wild, of course but there is a difference. I love seeing all her different looks through the years.

Very interesting film on Pink.
snoozee1119 November 2013
I thought this was a great film on Pink. I learned a lot more about her. "Staying True" has great concert footage of her amazing acrobatic performances. I already knew she was a great performer. But the film shows her hard work that she puts into those great concert shows. I liked seeing how involved she is with fighting for animal rights. You can tell she is very passionate about this cause and her love for animals. The film also touches on how she really stands her ground and doesn't follow the crowd, even though often times it would be easier. After watching this film I think I like Pink even more. I recommend this film to all Pink fans.

Fantastic

FANTASTIC! I really enjoyed watching this Pink documentary. It's a really great portrayal about one of the greatest performers of all time. It made me smile in a few places too. It was really cool. There is so little out there on this amazingly talented pop artist.

To be fair Pink gets a bit of praise but nowhere near the amount she deserves. Pink is a leader in her field. Her style is so different from other styles and trends and for this alone she should be praised, yet there is not enough. I feel the problem is the credit goes to the old faithfuls Madonna, Beyonce and Britney etc. Artists like Pink that are trying to give us people out here something different, these artists are the ones that should be given the credit. Lets be totally honest here. Who needs the Miley's of the world? I would rather look up to Pink than any other celebrity out there. She's smart, caring, aware of the issues faced by us normal people and not caught up in the celebrity business. I am totally in awe of her, her music and her strength of character, she motivates me. Pink keep up the good work girl, there are many more people such as myself out here waiting to support you every step of the way. There really should be more films like this made about her. I really enjoyed the old archived interviews from when Pink was first starting out, I hadn't seen quite a few of them, so it was really interesting to watch and I'm just so glad that she's back and more rebellious than ever. This is well worth a watch if like me you love Pink.

That girl is amazing
FreeAveryJack3 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Holy crap man, I knew that Pink was an excellent pop music artist, put my god does she put on one heck of a show. I was expecting another behind the scenes film with random interviews about friends and family, inspiration for the new album, and a possible stint in rehab. This is not what you get from this movie. This documentary shows what a true talent and hard worker Pink is, and I had no clue she put on that kind of performance. What she does on stage is down right amazing, I have no clue how she does that night after night, in cities across the globe. This women should be the standard by which all other musical performers are compared, and the same goes for this documentary.

Very good documentary
claura83328 February 2014
I didn't exactly expect much but I really liked this. Before I get started with the review, I should declare that for many years I have been a very big fan of Pink, I really love her music, she gets me in the groove, she is so skilled in all she does and I have to admit that she really amazes me.

This very competent tribute is not only refreshing but a worthy watch which truly defines Pink. Having said that, I was expecting to see more of her incredible acrobatic live performances. Okay, there are some breathtaking performance shown from London last year, which was great to see, but I really wish they could have shown us a bit more. But that is my only complaint because on the other hand, there were some awesome interviews with Pink which were new to me and priceless. Very good documentary.

Great portrayal capturing the power of Pink
jamieparsons7566 April 2014
As a long term avid fan of Pink there was plenty of familiar ground in this doc, but it was informative and had great entertainment value from start to finish, so I can really recommend. For the uninitiated, this is a nice jumping off point and an easy view to gain some insight into the rise of an American icon and one of the most inspiring and admirable pop stars in the world.

Clocking in at just over 60 minutes this doc features one on one interviews ranging from people like Pink's' flamboyant male backing dancers, to a woman who Pink donated a free concert performance (can you imagine!) in order to raise money to support her very worthwhile animal charity. It had some awesome old archive footage featuring Pink when she was starting out which I'd never seen before, plus some new interviews from The Truth About Love Tour. In my opinion, the only faults with this doc are it could have been a little longer, because it is hard to fathom all of Pinks' career in such a short time and I also really wanted to see more of her dazzling trapeze performances, but overall it is a very slickly made portrayal and does well in piecing together Pink's extraordinary life. If you are a follower of Pink, do yourself a favor and watch it for yourself.

Solid

Pink Staying True turns the lens onto one of the greatest most unconventional performers of our time. Pink rocks like no other, but her greatest glory lies in her thrilling, epic live performances and eye-popping showmanship. I'll be honest, I didn't exactly expect much from this doco, after watching lots of rags to riches biographies, I've found them mostly be very biased and uninteresting, made with an agenda to market a brand, but this was pretty good and showcases Pink's story in a unique and entertaining way. I would have given it another star if there was a bit more of her performing but what's not to like? Ultimately, Pink deserves hardcore respect and there should be more like this about her out there. It's downright impossible not to admire her once the credits start to roll.

Top Pick For Pink Fans
Mattyman712 April 2014
Pink Staying True was a fun distraction. It kept me engaged the whole time and not once did I feel it dragged or got boring. I love Pink because she is one of the few real artists out there. She is a super talented performer and I totally relate to her on every level. I'm sure her other fans will certainly be happy with this, but I could see maybe a non-True Pink fans' eyes glazing over.

This is a very balanced and interesting look that tackles her story in a fun way and shows how she got to where she is today and captures some the madness of the pop world that Pink is part of. All in all, I really enjoyed this great all round entertainment

Enjoyable
Woodsieb20 November 2013
The nicest surprise about this glossy documentary is the fact that despite her immense success, Pink remains refreshingly grounded (she's still very hot too!) Fame is usually portrayed as a journey to the center of radness, while talent itself remains an afterthought. Not so with this gal, her gifts are nothing short of amazing.

While marketed solely at Pink fans,"Pink Staying True" is genuinely enjoyable, even if you don't happen to be a pre-pubescent girl. Certain elements of unpredictability combined with a platoon of contributors prevent this from being more than a superficial publicity piece. For those who thought of Pink as just another a manufactured pop star, the documentary pulls away at the curtain to show that there is no wizard at the controls. Pink is completely in charge and has definitely given fans a reason to keep on following her, and her fans will surely love this.

Affective Tribute
landaudan1519 August 2014
Pink Staying True is assembled from familiar Pink footage, new interview outtakes, and photographs, and fresh interviews with certain individuals some of which are meatier than others.

For the non-Pink enthusiast, this will be overkill with a vengeance. For the casual Pink enthusiast, it is probably just about perfect. I'm pretty well versed in Pink and this is a clear documentary that paints a picture of a very interesting woman, who lives through many changes around and within herself.

The documentary is not all encompassing, what could ever be?. But it is a fitting tribute into a look in on the life and times of a woman, a mother, a wife, an artist, and sensitive soul who speaks out against animal cruelty. Pink will always light up my life. What's not to like?

P!nk Staying True - An Inspirational look inside Pink's life
maraoneill35 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I got this on digital download and although I'm not usually a fan of documentaries, I really enjoyed this one. It's very good and an easy watch. Pink fans (guilty) will definitely love this. How could they not? If you are not a fan, I don't expect it's that interesting if you don't like her but it then this will show you why Pink is truly dazzling on every level. I have to say it never ceases to amaze me how little media exposure she is given. Why is that? I mean she is an extraordinary talent and a daring performer who is outstanding in every way. She is everything most of todays "pop stars" are not. She can sing too!!! But because she is not sleazy like the girls-gone-bad in todays entertainment. Pink doesn't set out to get herself on every front cover and maybe that's why she doesn't get the exposure.

Anyway, enough of my rant and onto the documentary. It is lighthearted and funny at times and i already knew her personal history, but what really made it for me were the interviews which give very revealing personal insights into Pink and how she got where she is today. I love the stories from the woman who runs the animal sanctuary. She handed Pink a note backstage when she got to meet her, because she was so in awe, she was too nervous. Pinks people phoned her the next day to say Pink would perform a concert for free to raise money for the animals. Yet another reason why Pink is so cool imo.

Her backing dancers are interviewed too and they tell how genuine she is and how hard she works behind-the-scenes. Some of the stuff she get up to on stage sure is dangerous. All in all I liked this very much, but don't expect much singing. There were brief live songs but I was frustrated at not being able to experience a single number all the way through. So beware this isn't a full concert . I completely recommend this documentary, it will really show you who Pink truly is.

Pink is one of a kind!
hender118826 November 2013
I've always been I fan. Ever since I heard "Hazard to myself" I knew that Pink was an honest artist that I would follow closely. I've enjoyed watching her and her music evolve over the years and have always tried to see her when she plays Denver. Being such a big fan it was with great anticipation that I watched "Staying True." The thing I loved most was watching the interviews with Pink and seeing how she has changed, but stayed true to herself throughout the years. One of my favorite moments was when she refused to play for Prince William because he hunted Lions. As a fierce Peta supporter she couldn't bring herself to perform for him. Its stories like this that have established Pink as an individual and I recommend anyone who is a fan watch this documentary!

Inspiration for all
sliderstar910 September 2014
Good coverage and depiction of her life history with a mix of upbeat messages and history. This is an enjoyable experience because it shows the determination and honesty of Miss Alicia Moore. She has this magic that makes you feel good. Pink is a true talent and very kind and a genuine inspiration to everyone. Something we can learn from her is to be ourselves and nobody else. I appreciated the movie for showing that success is not just dumb luck but a result of handwork, sacrifice, and perseverance. This is not my normal movie choice but I did enjoy it. The only thing, I would have liked more concert music, but it keeps moving and I found it entertaining.

Pink shines true
Sissy11129 December 2014
If you don't like Pink then don't go and watch this. It's more of a music documentary than a concert video. First thing first, I'm not a big fan of her type of music, but Pink does have some good songs, I decided to watch it with my nieces who already knew everything about her, now I'm very impressed by her too. As with any music documentary, your enjoyment of this will depend on how well you like the artist. Any documentary is bound to be a propaganda film, but "Pink Staying True" is a good one, and an honest portrait. Pink doesn't care what people think. She blows through all hate and this documentary won't even give haters the dignity to be on screen. I didn't go into this thinking this would be phenomenal or anything. For what it is and what it intended to be, I thought it was great, but I would have liked to see much more of her performances on stage. Now I'm left really looking forward to seeing what Pink does next. She is one of the most thrilling artists out there, and I will say that after watching this I do have to admit that she is totally underrated.
