Laying the groundwork

Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode. And this is only the second of the season. This episode follows on from number 1. The titans have broken through both walls and so everyone has moved to the center (I can't remember what the areas are called). Now everyone is starving and our main character Erin is still dealing with the loss of his Mother. The government has sent over 200,000 refugees but only 200 came back. Now Erin has joined the army along with Mikasa and Armin to defeat the titans, so they can start living again.

Where to even start with this episode. It crams lots of different plot lines into one episode but none of them feel rushed. It might even be saying something about the treatment of refugees and how packed they are when they get into countries.

The main job of this episode is to set what's to come. So that we can just get on with the series now. In this, it succeeds and I can't wait to see what comes next on this amazing show.

That Day... the path was set for one of the greatest fictional stories ever told!
and_mikkelsen9 January 2023
This was an amazing follow-up to the pilot with intense and emotional moments while also building upon the characters and adding to the mystery with more world-building!

I remember watching this for the first time and you you see a bunch of things that you dont immidiatly think about but still makes you wonder! The scene with Grisha and Eren is my favorite! You know something is happening but not what! It was disturbing the first time but coming back to it after season 4 part 2 it becomes even more dark! This is what makes this show so special.. so rewarding to rewatch it!

Eren's character is also set in motion here! Him reffering to humans as caddle is a great way to show his character!

If you are reading this and are still debating whether to watch this show or not i will say DO IT! Very few shows is as rewarding as this!

Manages to build off episode one and develop Eren's hate for the titans as well as Armin and Mikasa.

Excellent follow up

Another tremendous episode and a wonderful follow up to the first episode which continues to build the world, characters, and atmosphere. The opening scenes are incredible and just thrilling to watch as we see the continuation of the Titans breaking through the walls and causing havoc upon humanity. Citizens are forced to migrate into the center and we feel every bit of emotion from our main characters. I love the character development of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. They're very easy to empathize with. There's a lot going in this episode from the Titans, the migration, the attempt to reclaim the second wall, and our main characters drive to go into training and defeat the Titans. But none of it feels rushed and it all comes together smoothly

THE STORY CONTINUES.....
dineshkumarfeb-148137 October 2023
Another amazing episode! It continues showing The brutality of titans that is rapidly increasing their domination over humans. This episode shows and explain our main protagonist EREN YAGER very well along other main character ( Mikasa and Armin). The animation and art style also is very great in this episode. The direction and story boarding improved very well as it begins to show the dark, brutal yet beautiful scenes. The music is very good and captures the the feeling of this world very well. Overall a great episode which continues the story of our main characters in this world full of blood sheds very well.

Rewatch, 9.05/10
dcdude-269882 September 2023
This was just another underrated episode of this epic first season. Was it better than the first one? No, not really. Was it still amazing though? Absolutely. My favorite things about this episode were the pacing, the storyline, and the acting. My favorite characters in this episode were Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. Could this possibly be a new top five TV Show for me personally? Possibly yeah, but I am not really sure about top three yet. Once I get to the third episode of the second season, I will stop saying "rewatch" because I watched the first season and those two episodes, but that was about it.

Great follow up

Warning: Spoilers
"That Day" The Fall of Shigandhia, Part 2" is a great follow up episode in wich we get to know more about the World. We also see how much Eren hates the Titans.

Recap: After narrowly surviving the horrors of Shiganshina's fall Eren and Mikasa manage to get to a escape boat with a number of other refuges including Armin. However, just before they leave, an Armoured Titan appears and smashes the gate to Wall Maria thus allowing the Titan Horde to invade the land. In the wake of these nightmares incidents Eren makes a vow to kill every single Titan he can find and drive them from his home.

It's a harrowing day
jtk-7739230 June 2023
There's something about the desperate attempts to board the last ship to escape the apocalypse that sends a shiver down my spine. Just imaging what it would be like to miss that last boat, shizz.

Also that bread shoved down the throat scene has to be some sort of fetish right?

Seems like a kinda hopeless situation at the moment aye? Also wondering why the big titan is taking so long. Highkey seems like that big boy should be able to just walk all the way through every wall and reach the centre in like a day or two. If not him then at least the speedy one.

Armin is also too nice aye. Why does there always have to be this incredibly pure sidekick? Classic caregiver character, i.e., Samwise Gamgee.

Warning: Spoilers
Another good episode. It was basically an extension on the pilot, and nicely set up the trajectory of the series after the very well done cliffhanger of the first episode. The dialogue is alright, the visuals are detailed and creative. The pacing is perhaps a bit fast but that's not too much of a big deal. Overall it is looking very promising so far

Beyond the Surface
sanadalsalt17 December 2023
This was a fantastic continuation of the pilot, filled with intense and emotional moments. It adeptly expanded upon the characters and added to the mystery through further world-building!

Upon my initial viewing, I noticed numerous details that aren't immediately apparent but still evoke wonder. The interaction between Grisha and Eren stands out as my favorite. There's an unsettling sense of something unfolding, yet it remains enigmatic. While it was disconcerting at first, revisiting it after season 4 part 2, it takes on an even darker tone. This is what makes the show truly exceptional and so satisfying to revisit.

Eren's character is also set in motion here. His reference to humans as "cattle" is a powerful way to illustrate his character.

For those still contemplating whether to watch this show, I say, go for it! Few shows offer as much gratification as this one!

Rushed start
chriscallnew7 November 2023
I understand that the intent was to have us care about the characters before the attack, but it would have been far more effective to begin with the attack. This is the defining moment for them, and so their motivations require it. Having barely 10 minutes of setup before hand is not enough. Furthermore, Eren spends so much time yelling that it begins to push into Barefoot Gen territory. It's one dimensional anger.

On the other hand, there's a ton of interesting world building getting set up, and the art design is pretty good. It's not 90's Berserk anime legendary, but it's a strong point.

Overall, the introduction feels clumsy and rushed, but if the show gets its legs, that can be overlooked.
