Anyone watching for the excitement? as if.
Sleepin_Dragon24 March 2018
Is anybody watching this for any other reason then to drool over Ben Shephard? He is insanely handsome, he's a wonderfully nice chap, friendly, kind, hard to imagine him being mean to any of the contestants, but let's face it the show is so uninspiring. I am really surprised to see it's still going after almost a decade, so many great game shows haven't lasted half as long. Truly the most exciting thing about the show is seeing what fabulous suit Mr Shephard is wearing. The contestants can be annoying, but I don't remember seeing any unpleasant ones. How big is that machine? That's what I want to know.

Room Temperature IQ?
bwmcg8 January 2021
Are Tipping Point questions too easy or is it meant for primary school children's viewing? A typical question and answer may be as follows- Ben - "What fruit is orangey flavoured, orange in colour and has a chocolate version made by Terry's?" Contestant - "Is it a Cadbury Cream Egg?"

Maybe not but comes close.

NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME...
edhart086 November 2020
...just how little English contestants know about the history of their own country. Program after program their lack of knowledge is astounding. Example, King Canute came to the throne in 1018..was her from Russia, Spain or Denmark. She thought it sounded Spanish but guessed the correct answer, Denmark. An embarrassment to the state of general knowledge in the UK...BTW...I'm Australian

The slowest gameshow on TV
jpjmacca11 April 2016
The show panders to those who struggle to watch anything more high octane than what constitutes basic auditory and visual stimulation. Here these two boxes are ticked nicely by a platform moving forwards and backwards to the tune of falling coins. Some people worry about gameshows which ask difficult questions about obscure facts but you need not worry about tipping point. The questions are humorously easy and your mind will only be distracted by the frequent insipid comments made by the uninspiring host Ben Shepard whilst you are trying to concentrate on the moving platform as well as the last traces of your soul as you ask yourself why you are wasting your precious hours on earth, watching people play a stupid arcade game.

Please please please can we have minus ratings. This is so unbelievably bad we have no clue why it's still running. Watching paint dry? 100% more interesting.

I know my Tipping Point!
kris_errington26 February 2021
And it coincides with those beautifully crafted discs of excitement tumbling down the shelf of treachery. One moment I'm racking my brain to questions akin to that of University Challenge, the next I find myself perched on the tip of my sofa ready to tumble myself! A high octane and beautifully constructed game show, my tip? Watch Tipping Point.

Dull gameshow
studioAT7 August 2014
It used to be tea time chat shows that dominated the late afternoon/early evening slots on weekdays, but now game-shows seem to be in vogue and that explains why we end up with twaddle like Tipping Point.

While the concept is simple enough (many of them aren't) and Ben Shepherd is a good enough host what can't be escaped is the fact that the game isn't very exciting at all. You could go to any arcade and play Tipping Point. OK, the money on offer probably wouldn't be as high and you wouldn't be filmed (other than on CCTV) but at least you wouldn't have to be cut off every ten minutes for an ad break.

The less said about the so-called Celeb editions (why are these so compulsory!) the better.

Slow ....
beverleyhunniford26 April 2021
I am never going to turnover to watch tipping point. It's one of those that I'll watch for a few minutes with a pained expression, questioning how it's kept going for so long. Watching their giant pusher going steadily back and forth is a cross between hypnotic and painfully dull. The questions are on the easy side. So dull.

Tipping point toppled,
judithcvise30 January 2024
Tipping point is a boring inane show. Very stilted. Todd's voice is whiny. He does not have great rapport with either the contestants or the audience. No replacement for the warm engaging Millionaire show with Eddie. A prime time slot on television demands a much more professional show than this. I feel Chanel 9 is deteriorating in programs lately. Talking with others we are all of the same opinion. The shows do not reflect the interests of a majority of its audience. Time for a change I feel, perhaps it comes from the top but Chanel 9 needs to read their viewers better. Times change and so should television programs.

Egg laying mammals
famhis9 December 2021
Have just watched Tipping Point screened on 9/11/21 in Australia. A question was asked which animal was an egg laying mammal. Gaynor answered that it was a platypus and was told she was wrong and that the correct answer was an echidna. In fact both platypus and echidna are egg laying mammals. How disappointing that the researchers can't ensure the facts are correct.

Australian tipping point
mareeinqld23 February 2024
Pathetic does not compere with UK version.

5 categories instead of six in the final part 30 seconds instead of 45 seconds to answer as many questions as possible. The preceding two make the odds more in favour of TV Chanel. Aussie rip off .The host has no finesse or charisma and is a total bore. The audience participation is pathetic. Absolutely no professionalism My friends and I will not be watching this version of tipping point, but will continue to watch the UK version I would prefer to watch "Who wants to be a millionaire" with Eddy, he was always professional.

This is in my opinion of a 3rd rate programme. Just take it off.

Fack game
jfkain30 January 2024
I was just watching tipping point Australia and the contestant had a gold star in Collum 1.

The contestant selected Collum 1.

The black disc came out and it was like it was in slow motion falling down.

Probably being guided down with magnets.l watch a video clip of the same show in the UK, The disc fell and settled, but then it moved by itself So people, nothing is what it seems to be, the slide of a hand, push of a button or ever a disc falling in a game show.

If your going to manipulate the game show, at least do it so it's not noticeable .

Who would had thought.

This show is a con !!!!

I want to enjoy this quiz show
safenoe28 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I try to enjoy Tipping Point but somehow I can't get into the series although I note it's been running for a decade. There needs to be a celebrity episode with contestants such as Danny Dyer, any of the Spice Girls, Rod Stewart and Nadine Dorries.

I've Found my Tipping Point!
LTPHarry13 July 2021
What do you get when you purchase a penny pusher, increase it in size, and put into a studio set? You get this very popular ITV Game Show produced by Zodiak Media/Banijay's RDF Television division, and hosted by breakfast TV personality Ben Shephard.

When it first premiered in 2012, Tipping Point was a summer filler programme when The Chase was on it's usual summer break, and you'd think it would just end up how it did. Well, you'd be wrong! The show has been running for over nine years and is still going strong!

The concept is simple enough: Four contestants answer general knowledge questions, and whatever they get right they get awarded counters that go in the giant machine, and must win the most money to head into the next round, or otherwise you're eliminated. Within the second season, they introduced star counters where you win spot prizes, and sometime later they introduced double-counters

Then, the same thing happens (while including a head to head round) until there's one left. Then, they'd put the jackpot counter in, and see if they can reach it to the bottom to win that sweet £10,000! It's worth it, too!

Now, onto other stuff. Ben Shephard is fine as a host, he used to be a bit bland and one-dimensional, but he's gotten better at it now. He's a bit of a hugger, so when you win the £10,000, watch out! His popular Ben Hugs are not escapable! The set is quite dark and simplistic, and it's not overloaded with LED lights and nightclub-looking sets.

Lastly, are the flaws. There are way too many ad breaks, and overall the rounds are way too short for this reason otherwise, couldn't you just make the rounds longer and the ad breaks longer! Secondly, the show is quite one-dimensional, so it gets predicable and boring quickly. Lastly, some contestants are quite dumb, with some acting like that on purpose, but that's to be expected in game shows all the time.

Overall, Tipping Point is a pretty good game show. It's not as entertaining as some others, but it's still decent otherwise.

Slow down, Ben!
ExiledRoyal20 May 2022
I like this show. I like the format.

Just slow down, Ben. You talk so fast the one word just melts into the next, and before you know it yougettotheendofthesentencebeforeIcanhearyouproperly. It's just rude, and I can't hear that fast!

Entertaining and Educational
chadwick-8695525 February 2024
I think it is a very interesting show. It combines memory/intellect/experience with the physics of the machine. I find Ben to be are a very articulate and entertaining host. He admits that he has information wired into him. He is not pompous, he is cordial, and actually attempts to help the contestants in a very indirect way, all of them.

Reading the Reviews is very interested. So many opinions.

Sure, even I, an American, know the answers to some of the UK-specific questions. However, I don't have a clue about others. Brits not understanding the difference in dates between the Battle of Hastings, War of Independence, and WWI is atrocious. Or the Battle of Britain. It is a sorry state when I know more about the history of England/UK. However, Brits might know more about American history than I; and more than the common American that may not know where our States are located. Yea, some questions are very easy, others are not. It might be very easy to answer: "How many days are there in two fortnights, minus one fortnight, plus 3 days?" when we are sitting at home, it is different when there is a camera in your face. In Millionaire (US), one of the early questions, the colors of the US flag are "red, white, and ________". These easy questions must be to make some folks at home feel better.

As far as Ben (the host) in concerned, I don't undertand the negative reviews, including how he talks too fast. Even as an American I can understand his English perfectly, and he articulates very well, and certainly beyond the contestants. He adds content to the show, and is entertaining. He actually attempts to help the contestants in his own way. I am sometimes surprised how much Brits know about the US.

Overall, the Tipping Point is an entertaining and educational show. All contestants are very polite and support each other, something I don't often see. It makes perfect sense why Tipping Point has been produced for so many years. I also like Tenable, the Millionaire shows (all regions), The Chase (all regions), and The Missing Link (all regions)

I like it
catimms21 March 2023
I like the programme, it's actually good entertainment and one can learn, join in and see the questions it is for the folks watching on tv ( unlike Pointless which us as its name suggests Pointless. Not a show for the home audience as the questions are not on the screen long enough and the hosts take up too much time talking to each other taking the limelight from the contestants ) Ben Shepherd is an excellent host and seems a nice guy my only grumble is he repeats the questions the contestants have answered correctly there is no need for that seems a bit of time wasting, and the loosing contestants should take home what they manage to win or do they anyway? I'm not sure! Maybe they should start off playing for points then switch to pounds. STOP repeating the questions even the ones contestants have got right it's annoying time wasting and feels like your just being rude and sarcastic to the players when they don't do well answering the questions.

Boring and needs to be replaced.
jpbrandwood1 April 2021
Why not out Winning Combination or Lingo in there, more popular nowadays and also, better in my opinion. The format is boring, the host is annoying and the show needs to be replaced. Still better than bank balance, but what isn't?

I love this show!
britstuff1 March 2019
The questions are easy, Ben Shepherd is a good host. The tension kills me when I am waiting for that counter to topple over the edge. It's a great show to watch in the day. £10,000 with the possibility of doubling it is a huge amount for the winner.

However, a live audience would make it more exciting.

Age groups of contestants
joycemcdonnell18 December 2023
We have young contestants that need to be grouped together to give one of them a chance to win some money to many old money grabbers on young contestants not getting a chance they need money for their future .I admire that they apply to be on the programme we need to Look after the young people for future to many old people on tipping point and I've watched it since it started. Years ago it's not just elderly that need money .things are costing more for young ones who want to go to university or have a family to support.costa are contiinuely going up meaning less can get to university and we need these people for the country's future.
