Despite revolving around a certain formula and similar basic structure, 'Phineas and Ferb' is still to me a great show and had enough variety to stop it from being repetitive. The earlier seasons are better, funnier and more creative than the later ones, but even when the show was not at its very best it was so much better than most shows airing on the Disney Channel. During its entire run, 'Phineas and Ferb' was one of the channel's few winners in a period where it was going downhill.
The show has had better episodes than "Knot My Problem" and "Mind Share". They are still very well done indeed, both of them, and always have been on all my viewings of them. Always done back to back, have always viewed 'Phineas and Ferb' as two episodes per sitting as that how when the show was first airing and when it grew in popularity and always paired as listed here. Often there are instances where one episode is better than the other, in this case there is a preference for the more creative "Mind Share."
Wasn't massively crazy about the Doofenschmirtz subplot in "Knot My Problem", which is predictable and uninspired. It also could have done with more wild wackiness, despite liking Doofenschmirtz's dialogue and the character interaction. Candace is relatable here though and the episode's main plot while formulaic has its charms.
As said, "Mind Share" is a lot more creative conceptually with both the main plot and Doofenschmirtz's subplot being less formula driven. There is more energy in this episode and the main plot was refreshing with a great setting and fun supporting characters. Doofenschmirtz's subplot is bizarre, but delivers a lot more on the wild wackiness and is different for Doofenschmirtz.
The animation is still wonderfully vibrant with very rich attention to detail and imaginative visuals in "Mind Share". The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to. The characters and voice acting are on point, while the writing is often very funny and smart with plenty for kids and adults. Would have liked tighter pacing in "Knot My Problem", but can't fault the energy in "Mind Share".
Overall, very well done despite one episode being better than the other. 8/10.
