Good conclusion but weak season 5
danielcereto20 July 2023
Finishing season 4 I wrote about how Mayans can tie with Sons of Anarchy if season 5 will be made in the right way. But I was wrong, even the ending was acceptable even predictable too.

First, season five is almost ruined by light performances or the most important, a great script. Everything looked predictable including the ending. A wasted opportunity.

Second, last episode was good. Last 30 minutes are what the whole season should have been around of: the main characters and how all of them end.

Third, the ending is great but not as good as it could have been with a more intelligent and risky script. There are several unsolved questions about some of the characters. So, overall I was only satisfied with the last 30 minutes of the season. So, consequently Mayans has to be qualified as a irregular but interesting show.

Much Better Than I Thought It Would Be
m-rugen21 July 2023
At the time I'm writing this, the rating is a 7.2. I haven't liked this season much at all, even some of the better rated episodes overall I thought lacked the amazingness that existed in seasons 1-3. But this episode all but made up for the last two seasons.

I spent this whole season absolutely hating EZ's character. I spent the whole episode though hoping for a redemption of the character we all grew to live in 5 seasons.

I don't want to give any spoilers away, for people who want to read some reviews before watching, so let me just tell you that they do this show justice.

If you're a fan of this show, you should be a fan of this episode. I don't know why the rating is so low. Perhaps some viewers were expecting happier endings for every character but hey, you're in the wrong Sutterverse for that.

Sad to see it go
BadgerBone21 July 2023
I was sorry of dreading watching this one only because I knew it meant there'd be no more of a show I've loved for years, but so it goes with finales. I think it was a fitting ending, and honestly couldn't think of any other way I'd have preferred. Well-written and acted.

Though the show was always built around EZ they did a good job with parallel story arcs, and so with this wrapped up a number of things. I do wish they would have, at least for this episode, brought back the original theme song to bring things full-circle. I don't care much for the instrumental version.

Of everyone on the show I think Clayton Cardenas was my favorite. He is so electric to watch, I'll be looking to see what else he does in the future.

Very good, satisfying finale

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. This episode was very intriguing and gripped your attention from start to finish. Not sure why the episode is rated lower than it deserves. Perhaps it was a little rushed, but everything was pretty much wrapped up. Yes, I'm not thrilled that Lincoln Potter survived, but let's be honest, Santo Padre had it coming to them (especially after killing a pregnant Sofia and almost killing Angel). All of the deaths scenes I thought were done really well, even if I wish Isaac suffered a little more. At the end of the day, it was a really great series and Elgin James, contrary to what some say, did a good job after the departure of Kurt Sutter. No this wasn't Sons of anarchy, but it never was supposed to be. Sad it's over. Thanks for a great run Mayans MC!

Satisfying Ending.
amstandard28 January 2024
I was apprehensive about watching this episode but found the conclusion very satisfying. While I do think the end of the war was rushed, I felt the writers did a good job of wrapping up everyone's storyline with no ambiguity. Some were predictable but there were surprises. Clayton Cardenas in particular gave a stellar performance as Angel. It was hard to watch at times because you could clearly see and believe what his character was feeling. The chemistry he had with JD Pardo and his on-screen son was apparent and fun to watch. I was sorry to see this series end and hope there will be another one developed in the SOA universe.

Rushed ending
user-601-7879421 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It seems like they had little to no clue how to properly end this show. They literally hyped up a massive conclusion to the war with the Sons of Anarchy only to have the war end in like 5 minutes. The big solution was to drive over to the sons hangout and beat them up with bats. Brilliant. They hyped up the battle for nothing. They also made it seem like the pipeline being destroyed would be a big deal. Spoiler alert it did not effect anything. The way they decided to end it was by literally having everyone die. No one thought that the former ATF agent would be lying and instead they copied Game of Thrones by having EZ get stabbed by knives. Booooooo.

Was really hoping for something different
easymoney_dre22 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a bad episode but...

I was really hoping for a different kind of ending this time around than what we got in Sons of Anarchy. At least Jax went out willingly and did it for the club. So, EZ dies in the end, getting stabbed in the clubhouse by all the club memebers, after they find out he's been an informant for the feds and his deal with Potter. On top of that, they kill Sofia too who was pregnant with EZ's child and which he never got to find out about. Really didn't understand this one, at least they didn't kill his dog... And this was all Potter's doing, of course.

I was hoping for some character redemption for EZ in the end but I guess we only get dark endings in this sutterverse.

Disappointed that EZ and Angel never got to find out that Galindo is their brother, even though, in the begining of the episode, at Felippe's funeral Galindo had the intention to tell them I guess but didn't get the chance as EZ told him he shouldn't be there and he should leave.

The only good ending is for Angel, which manages to leave the club behind to raise his son away from Santo Padre, making them the only two Reyes boys left. Oh and Emily kills Galindo, of course.

So yeah, EZ dead, Galindo dead, Angel out, Bishop again club president and Potter wins... I really wanted a happy ending for both EZ and Angel.

Contrived, rushed ending, trivial solutions
mrsazz20 July 2023
This has happened to many TV shows. The writers suddenly need to tie up a lot of loose ends - very quickly. This seldom ends well, and this episode is no exception. Complex issues and conflicts that have been going on for years (or decades) are solved almost like magic, in minutes, with no clever way of compensating for it. Any sort of realism is non-existent.

Too many last-minute new angles and events were thrown in in the mix in an attempt to heighten the drama, but a lot of that was built on zero or little foundation and that way didn't stick the landing, or at least it seemed hollow to me.

The writers seem to fall back on the simple concept of death/exit/the end way too often to bail them out of their time-crunch. It's just too easy. Figuratively speaking: Order a nuclear strike. Watch the mushroom clouds. The end. Why bother coming up with anything clever, realistic or interesting?

Myself, I have grown to loathe almost every character on this show equally. Thus, I am not exactly sad to see any of them or the show itself end.

The reason for the rushed ending
silverton-379595 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The reason for the way the final season ran out of time before concluding most of the arcs of the characters is that the writers dragged out the scenes where two characters would just ramble on about nothing for several minutes. Cumulatively, all that wasted time wasn't available for moving the story forward.

Look at the writing credits. There are soap opera writers being allowed to meddle with the story in order to fulfill their own desires for credit. The longer the scenes they write the better they can pad their resumes in hopes of landing a gig with whatever inane sitcom is getting the ratings.

The writing killed off this series. The story could have been told much better in 30 episodes, instead of 50, if the talentless hacks hadn't been allowed to use the series as their sandbox.

Very predictable and bad
SebiB2120 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The season had a lot of ups and downs, something like "one episode good, one episode extremly bad/slow paced". But this episode combined that in the worst possible way, the war ended pretty fast and after that we had some slow and twisted scenes completed the 80 minute mess.

The predicable part was on the scene with EZ and Sofia when she said that they will talk "tonight" and prefered to keep the secret. We all knew that something bad is gonna happen.

I expected to see until the end the fate of Emily, or EZ finding that Galindo is his brother, or some last Emily-EZ interaction, because to be honest that was one of the main focuses in the first seasons. I haven't found useful some narative strings like seeing Marcus all over the season, with no impact on the main story, or that women bike gang, because in the end they were just someone to keep the drug business and this is it, nothing more, too many minutes wasted on something unuseful.

Complete Trash, But As Expected
ks2005_2 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The dialogue at the beginning between Potter and EZ was weak and dragged out. Potter rambled on, said a bunch of nothing, then made a threat and still seemed scared. I have no idea what that was about. The dialogue this entire season has been weak tbh.

Then the Sons are just partying and expecting no retaliation after murdering the father of the leader of their enemy? Dumb asf. Also why does nobody have guns? Not the Sons nor the Mayans have guns except for when EZ and Angel pull out a handgun to kill 2 people. If the Mayans are somehow out of guns, why not involve the Broken Saints? They would get their revenge and they'd also have their AK's. They hyped up Issac so much, just to kill him in the first 20 minutes of the finale with no buildup.

The dialogue between EZ and Issac should've ended once Issac said "There has to be more." If EZ simply replied "There isn't" and shot him, it would have made the scene better, but it seems all this show does is drag things out.

The scenes with Alvarez having a kid and Obispo visiting Alvarez were also a waste of time, and did not need to be included. Alvarez's character does nothing the entire season.

Why downer had to kill Cielo wasn't really explained. Seemed like it was just a setup for her to kill Downer, which would lead to her snitching, and then the ATF could shoot up the Mayans. Felt like they didn't know what to do with the rest of the characters so they just said "F it, kill em all".

Letty did absolutely nothing. One of the worst characters on the show. Her original logic to blame the Mayans made no sense either.

The only satisfying culmination to a character was Emily. It made sense what she did. She knew she couldn't keep running. She got revenge for her sister and managed to escape being trapped with Miguel forever.

The entire bridge scene with EZ and Angel was a waste of time. Also took them long enough to patch in Nestor. Should've been done a lot sooner.

Took angels dumba** long enough to realize he had to leave to keep his son safe. Everybody around him dies and then he has this bright idea.

You'd think they need some proof rather than just word of mouth to kill someone for being a rat. EZ's death was dumb and dragged out, as expected since that's what they've been doing the entire show. Why did everybody have to stab him? A simple gunshot to the head would have been enough.

WHERE DID THE PIPELINE PLOTLINE GO. WHAT HAPPENED TO TERRY.

Overall, stupid way to wrap up the entire season. It felt rushed and as if not much thought was put into it, but the whole season has been like this so it was kind of expected. 2/10.

Wasn't happy with this ending at all.
nicktusk-955917 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like it was just kind of piece together thrown together. Ezekiel gets killed. I'm like what the heck man and then the wife kills Galindo. We see Angel the very end at the beach. It's just the show I wanted to like it at the very first when Kurt Sutter was on board, I thought it was a better show, but I think once he left it, lost its touch and it's feel.

I like that they brought dread Dimatteo back into it for a cameo appearance, but this show was basically garbage compared to Sons of Anarchy. I like the characters in the show they're pretty good, but I just think the production writing in the acting wasn't that good.

Horrible trash!!!
yrovi24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The writers phoned this one in from the picket line. I guess the easiest way to end the series was for everyone to die. The Mayans won the war with the Sons of Anarchy so what's wrong with them literally riding off into the sunset? The ending was super rushed and not worth the build up. The setup with EZ was trash and should have started no later than episode 9. Have a Mayan trial, give "el presidente" a chance to defend himself and vote on his sentence. I should've known better since the ending of Sons was also horrible. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I'm done with Kurt Sutter!!!!

Felt rushed
nikkileigh-4789212 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really wish the finale had more set conclusions. It pretty much just became everyone dies, which I know is Sutter's thing, but dude. Come on. You made such a big deal out of the pipeline but the only thing to actually happen is a predictable ending. An ambush by the Mayans where they essentially kill all the Sons. Felipe died. Galindo died. EZ died after the club "confronted" him about being a rat. Even Sofia died. Seriously man. She just found out she was pregnant and didn't even get to tell EZ. It was now she got shot cause she was with him. The only thing to really come out of the episode is that Emily and Cristobal no longer have Galindo watching their every move and they're free. And Angel and Maverick leaving the club, which is the EXACT same thing that happened in SoA. We're led to believe that Leticia is also going to be shot once she got back to the Broken Saints. Bishop is again president of the club. And just like in SoA, Potter does all this crap but nothing happens to him. An entire case against him, but no, nothing because he brought the feds to raid the Mayans and kill them. Just feels like they took the easy way out to end the show instead of actually tying everything together and having a conclusive ending.
