Mortuary Massacre is a new anthology style horror from writer and director Chris J. Miller, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Friday 26th January. I got chance to ask Chris about how the anthology came together, undertaking multiple role to get the film finished and overcoming several obstacles to get the film finished.
What can we expect from Mortuary Massacre?
Hopefully a bloody good time! It’s an anthology in the vein of the Amicus films, Body Bags (1993) or Creepshow (1982). So, expect a lot of practical makeup effects, some T & A, cannibalism, facial skinning, and even a Nazi zombie shows up to say hello.
How did the ideas for Mortuary Massacre come together as an anthology?
Back in 2011, my writing partner Sean Stearley and I wanted to make a film about a zombie cowboy, but we could never get past the 30-page mark, so...

Things couldn’t be going better for breakout comedian Tiffany Haddish.

The mood got decidedly funnier and edgier in this year’s Emmy race for Original Music and Lyrics. It was a badly needed tonic for the country. Most notably, Tina Fey joined the musical fray for the first time, looking for her 10th Emmy with the hilarious “Hell No,” a tribute to Beyonce’s “Lemonade” (featuring an enraged Tituss Burgess) from “Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt.”
But, given the current zeitgeist, it’s not surprising that Chance the Rapper was nominated for his Run-d.M.C.–inspired rap tribute to Obama, “Last Christmas,” from “Saturday Night Live,” or that Rachel Bloom was back again with the raunchy “We Tapped That Ass” from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” There was even room for the excruciatingly uncomfortable “The Ballad of Claus Jorstad (Devil Stool)” from “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and and the animated burlesque of “Jing-a-Ling-a-Ling” from “Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special.”

The Case for Ann Dowd: Justin Theroux and Carrie Coon on Why the Lone ‘Leftovers’ Nominee Should Win
If Ann Dowd could have explained why “The Leftovers” was important three years ago, everyone within earshot would have been watching. But she didn’t know then. She had to live it first.
“Depending on the day, if someone asks me about Patti, I can’t get through the conversation,” Dowd said, in an interview with IndieWire. “You didn’t play those parts. You lived them.”
For three seasons, Dowd portrayed the confounding antagonist-turned-hero Patti Levin. She earned the series’ first and only Emmy nomination in 2017 (her second of the year, along with “The Handmaid’s Tale”).
“I think if you were to internally poll all of us — Justin, Carrie, [director and producer] Mimi [Leder], [music supervisor] Liza Richardson, the editors, and all the actors — and say, ‘The Leftovers’ is only going to get one nomination — and we’re taking [Outstanding Drama] Series off the table’ — I think everyone would’ve written down ‘Dowd,'” co-creator Damon Lindelof said.

Bill Hader interrupted Saturday Night Live's prime-time Weekend Update "Summer Edition" for a fake FaceTime session as short-lived White House communications director Anthony "the Mooch," Scaramucci.
The comedian, wearing a sharp blue suit and tie, crashed Michael Che's report about a raccoon, noting, "I heard you two nutless liberal asswipes mention my name earlier, and when I hear my name three times, I appear like a Goomba Beetlejuice."
"The Mooch" told Che and co-host Colin Jost that he wasn't surprised his White House tenure ended after 11 days. "Hell no.

Sinéad O’Connor achieved pop culture immortality with a soulful cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” that built on the pain and vulnerability of Prince’s original, but the tears shed in the iconic video weren’t just for show. The ethereal voice and wounded eyes masked a past marred by child abuse, incarcerations, and tragedy, and those inner demons followed her through the gilded door of fame and haunt her to this day.
They ultimately led her to a New Jersey Travelodge, where she lived a solitary existence away from family in her native Ireland, whom she claims couldn’t cope with her mental illnesses.

I’ll say this much about sometimes-monotonous Sharknado 5: Global Swarming: it was a slight improvement on last year’s completely monotonous The 4th Awakens.
Surveying the franchise-to-date, as TVLine’s resident, I’m Getting Too Old for This Fish expert: Part 2 (The Second One) still reigns, having served up fun riffs on Airplane! and the like. Part 3 (Oh Hell No!) was inundated with un-clever NBC Universal shilling, you will (?) remember, while Part 4 seemed content to introduce a new, high-larious kind of “-nado” every five minutes… and leave it at that.

Donald Trump‘s first six months in office have been far from smooth sailing – and that’s without any interference from a terrifying, shark-spitting storm.

After two successful installments of the ridiculous – yet popular – SyFy franchise, producers approached former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to play the president in the film series’ third iteration, the outlet reported.

2017-08-02T08:52:14-07:00Trump Was Going to Play the President in 'Sharknado'
In January 2015, two years before he was sworn in as president, Donald Trump was set to step into the same role in a very different capacity: He had signed on to play the president in 2015's Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
Producers' first choice to play the leader of the free world in the Washington, D.C.-set disaster film was Sarah Palin, but negotiations with the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee had fallen through. That's when Ian Ziering, the gung-ho star of the schlocky Syfy franchise, had the inspiration to capitalize on the special relationship he'd developed with Trump while taping Celebrity Apprentice (Ziering made it as far as the penultimate task). His reality TV boss would make a good commander in chief, he reasoned. An offer went out.

When choosing what to see with my children, I can afford to be less and less careful these days. My youngest one is nine, the eldest thirteen, both have a healthy curiosity and appetite for adventure. Re-discovering films through their eyes has been a treat, and I can't wait to show them some classics. Thing is, many of those classics are rather ehm... scary. Me, I was scared of everything when I was young. Horror films intrigued me immensely, and I read everything about them I could get my hands on. But watching them? Hell no! A clip from Alien, glimpsed by me on the television when I was ten, could still result in me not properly sleeping for three days, and setting off some...

For some time, fans have been a bit iffy on the prospect of Colin Trevorrow taking the helm of Star Wars Episode 9. Yes, Trevorrow was responsible for Jurassic World — a film that’s gone down as the fourth highest grossing film of all time. That’s not bad considering he only did one film before it. However, that seems to be the biggest issue. Trevorrow is still a burgeoning filmmaker who has yet to establish his own voice. He created one quirky little film with Safety Not Guaranteed before being plucked from obscurity into the world of big blockbusters.
What’s worse is that despite the success of Jurassic World, a lot of film geeks looked back at the film in a not-so-favorable light. In fact, in the months following the movie’s release, after all the fun had worn off, there seemed to be a bit of a backlash...

The latest film in the franchise, Global Swarming, might just contain a hidden message for Trump to rethink his decision on the Paris climate agreement
Everyone knows the Sharknado formula back to front by now. There is a tornado full of sharks that, for whatever reason, seems hellbent on destroying our stocks of awkwardly self-parodying, Z-list nearly-celebrities. The only people who can stop them are two or three people who were relatively famous a quarter of a century ago. Throw in a lukewarm mugful of basement-bin, so-bad-it’s-bad irony and, bingo, that’s your Sharknado. And your Sharknado 2: The Second One. And your Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! And your Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.

When asked in an interview for AskMen.com whether he’d watch the show with his kids (his first child with wife Heidi Montag is due in October), the 33-year-old responded straightforwardly, “Hell no! They’d just lose brain cells. I’m trying to have really smart kids.”

Hellboy without Ron Perlman as the red ,horned cantankerous reluctant hero and its director Guillermo del Toro at the helm is just like taking cake away from a kid, you just don’t do it. However with Millennium in negotiations to reboot the franchise with a new instalment it’s going to happen.

I told you I’d be posting another Star Wars related piece today. And why not? Star Wars day only comes but once a year. But it’s nice to see that there are some people who sympathize with the non-Jedi contingent. You mustn’t forget that there’s an entire evil empire that’s essentially being left out of this holiday and frankly that’s just not fair. Not only that, do you really think that Darth Vader would ever give his Stormtroopers the day off? Hell no. Of all the memes I’ve seen that correspond to Star Wars day, this is my favorite. Screw

Diane Keaton still looks terrific at age 71, in part because her iconic style never gets old.
Has she changed the way she dresses as she’s aged? “Hell no, not even at all,” Keaton says. “Although if you look at Annie Hall, I’m sleeveless and my arms are dangling around. I did expose my body. Now I would say no exposing of any aspect.”
Other later-in-life rules: No blush (“You don’t want the kewpie doll look”), no gowns (“Why would anybody wear a gown after age 60 or something? I mean, are you kidding?”) and stay vigilant about lighting.

Remember the scene in Aliens in which the android Bishop does the "knife trick" with Bill Paxton's Hudson?
If you had access to a robot and a knife, wouldn't you want to strap the knife to the robot and recreate this scene to the best of your ability? What's that? You wouldn't? Because you're a sane human being? Oh, right. That's the correct answer. But as Sploid pointed out to me, not all of us are sane. This thing may start out a little slow, but by the end, it ramps up to "oh Hell no" speed.

The treasured sight of Dean and Sam in glasses couldn’t quite rescue Thursday’s Supernatural, which felt a little too familiar, what with yet another power play for Hell and one of the Winchesters lying to the other. Sam tells Dean that he’s been using an algorithm to find their recent plethora of cases — “Computers,” Dean marvels — when he’s actually been getting leads from the British Men of Letters. To Sam’s credit, he confesses the truth by the end of the episode.

The Bachelor in Paradise love connections are already happening! The series’ new season won’t air until later this year (we still have a whole new season of The Bachelorette to salivate over before that), but Alexis Waters -- aka ‘Dolphin Girl' from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor -- tells Et she plans on being in Paradise, and already has her eye on another potential castmate: Chad Johnson!
Waters, who went viral after showing up on night one of this season’s Bachelor in a shark suit (which she called a dolphin suit), chatted with Et at the show’s Women Tell All taping on Friday. Asked whether she’ll be on Paradise, she replied, “Hell yes! I didn’t get asked yet, but I mean, come on, let’s be real – I probably was just cast [on The Bachelor] for Paradise!”

The Weeknd released a new dis track with rapper Nav on Wednesday, and many fans think the “Starboy” singer is calling out his girlfriend Selena Gomez‘s ex, Justin Bieber.

The Weeknd dropped a new track titled "Some Way" with Toronto rapper Nav on Tuesday night, and while we definitely see this song being a hit, there's a chance some of the lyrics are a direct response to Justin Bieber's recent digs at him. The Weeknd has yet to publicly address Justin's remarks, but many fans seem to think that the song is a shot at the "Sorry" singer. In the song, The Weeknd sings, "Think your girl fell in love with me / She say my f*ck and my tongue game a remedy," while Nav raps, "Haters gonna say this sh*t is wack," seemingly referencing Justin's comments about The Weeknd's music. The Weeknd is currently dating Selena Gomez (aka Justin's ex) and Justin has not been shy about voicing his dislike for the fellow Canadian. Shortly after Selena and The Weeknd were caught kissing outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in January,...
