John Reardon (Shane) gives a great turn in this
CubsandCulture7 September 2020
This episodes stands out in a couple of ways. It is one of the few episodes that adheres pretty closely to the Greek myths; by doing so the show has a good twist on who the victim, villain are. The Winchesters also solve the case in a unique way that i am struggling to find an analog for. It just makes the monster of the week episode stand out as different.

But above all John Reardon is really touching as Shane. Sexy, soulful Reardon stays with you and nails the character. It is one of the better one of performances in the show's run.

Good

The beginning of the episode was compelling and interesting. A person who never dies, has no memory, and advanced hand-to-hand combat skills was attention getting. The reason I'm giving it a 7 is because the story gets less interesting when we find out what's actually going on. It was still one of the better "filler" episodes of the season.

More Gods Please

Warning: Spoilers
This episode brings up a sad conundrum for me. I really like when Sam and Dean go up against some of the toughest baddies around, but what makes these bad guys so cool is that they're near omnipotent. Unfortunately, the discrepancy between them and the Winchesters is huge, and I really dislike perennial favorites losing to underdogs. For some reason, this episode tickled on that, but defeating Lucifer didn't. Maybe because Lucifer was only tricked and trapped, while Zeus was straight up killed. Also, shouldn't Prometheus have some kind of powers? Some ability to put up a fight against Zeus? I don't know much about the titans, but I do know their only power wasn't given to them by a God. I wish they would have went into Artemis a bit deeper as well, possibly a flashback to her tryst with Prometheus? Eh, Supernatural will bounce back, no worries.

Not bad but not good!
mm-3928 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Remember the Titans is not bad but not good episode either. Remember the Titans is an episode which is just there. I will not remember this episode. Titans start out strong with a storyline where a character just cannot die. The first half of this episode has the viewers interested in why does this guy just not die? Regrettably, the second half of the episode deviates into another showdown with a creature! The writers did not know how to get the Winchesters out of a non-winnable scenario and regrettably Sam uses some pop-psychology to fix the problem. A predictable and formulated ending. The ending was like a play or drama, which might be the makers' intention trying to re-create a modern Greek tragedy. First half of Titans I give an eight and the second half I give a four. A six out of ten stars.

A little off

Warning: Spoilers
Surely Zeus would have been a little more challenging to deal with? I found the guest actors a little lacking, surely a program of this calibre would attract better?

Fine but missing spn touch
shwetafabm26 June 2020
Another ep straight after one focused on some rando, this one atleast made me care, seemed cool tho was very different from spn, that's fine because spn has always had different stand alones but missing that gritty dark road trip hunting.

The writers should stay away from the gods.
crappyemailrepository3 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It never works when they bring in a god as a monster of the week. What mythology makes out to be an cosmically powerful and significant being that's been around for thousands of years invariably ends up being presented as something so dim you wouldn't expect it to survive its teen years -- and lo and behold, they seldom survive the episode.

Worse, they pretty much never even make interesting characters. The only one that managed that was the Trickster, who turned out not to be a god at all.

Also, Zeus' complaint in this episode didn't even make sense. Prometheus is why they weren't worshiped anymore? But they *were* worshiped, for at least a thousand years after the theft of fire could have happened. State religion, huge temples dedicated to them, epic poems that are still studied today, and then the Romans even copied the pantheon. By pretty much any measure, they were incredibly successful for a long, long time.

Swan Song of Prometheus
hp1993-739-94778521 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This episode turned out to be one of the most boring episodes of Supernatural. The plot about man who is dying every day is weird (sometimes the eagle comes, sometimes not - why?) - obviously they totally forgot the part of the Prometheus' myth, when Heracles saved him..and in the end of the myth, Heracles is forced to wear a ring with the stone from the Caucasus Mountains.

The story with Prometheus'son is just stupid. Everything goes really fast, we don't have much time to empathize with the kid, Hayley or Artemis. Boom - titans - boom - Zeus - boom - spell - boom - bones and fulgurite - boom- trapped Zeus - boom - Artemis loves Prometheus? - boom - the end ;)

I can clearly say that if everyone (except the brothers of course) died in the episode, it would be OK with me, because I wasn't curious at all.

Best things? The actor who played Zeus had a lot of charisma and if he played some demon it could have been great.

Dean prays to Cas to watch over Sam.

Why Zeus?
grandmaster-733-5122917 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this series, but i can't get why they use old gods as boss of the week?

Especially Zeus. Wow, he is the god of gods, ruler of the old greek myths and mithology.

And the brothers just summon him after a 15 minute preparation, and easily kill him. Ok. He has the same power (or even more) as Lucifer has, but got that easily beaten? Btw his death scene was extremeley awkward.

This episoda was waaay too fast in general, I couldn't even realize what is happening: A guy dies everyday, but noone knows why -> Ah, he is Prometheus, who dies every day (actually not, cuz in the mythology Heracles saved him) -> He has amnesia (wow, how original), and has a son with the same "problem" Ok, we just summon Zeus and kill him (nice strategy), because he is only the most powerful greek god.

So for me, this episoda is a big NO.
