Invincible is one of the most popular TV adaptations based on a comic book by the same name, and there’s no surprise that the gaming community wants a piece of that experience too. Skybound, the studio behind the series, has started a kickstart campaign in hopes of actualizing this vision.
The team has been vocal about envisioning Invincible as a triple-a quality video game, which is true to its source material and gives players the freedom to explore some of their favorite characters from comics and shows.
Skybound Isn’t New to Handing Epic Franchises
The talented minds at Skybound aren’t new to crafting daunting and powerful experiences. In fact, these are the same creators who have managed an IP as strong and popular as The Walking Dead. Given how versatile the franchise has been in the context of different adaptations, it’s likely we’ll see the same with Invincible.

It appears Ezra Miller was quietly recast as mad scientist D.A. Sinclair in Season 2 of Prime Video’s Invincible.
Miller voiced the character in one episode in the first season of the adult animated series, but when Sinclair appeared in the March 28th episode, the character was voiced by Eric Bauza.
Deadline has reached out to Prime Video for comment.
Miller, embattled star of The Flash and Fantastic Beasts, has been embroiled in multiple scandals. Last year, they pleaded guilty to unlawful trespassing in a burglary case in Vermont after cutting a plea deal ahead of the hearing. In 2022, Miller agreed to mental health treatment after a string of run-ins with the law.

“With the new world order you are going to see much lower budgets,” Miramax TV boss Marc Helwig has predicted, as he forecast the market for first-look deals will “further contract.”

“We see opportunity internationally at significantly lower budgets and in the U.S. I think we will see budgets contracting in the way that the landscape is contracting,” he told a Mia Market panel titled The Producer’s Role. “With the new world order you are going to see lower license fees and much lower budgets.”

In June, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment recently scored two highly coveted comic book licenses from Hasbro, “The Transformers” and “G.I. Joe,” with both planned for release this fall as part of the new “Energon Universe.”
Kirkman won’t have any input into future movies based on “G.I. Joe,” but given the difficulty that franchise has had on the big screen lately, we couldn’t help but ask Kirkman for his take now that he’s got a toehold on the universe.
“There’s certainly good aspects to the, the ‘Snake Eyes’ movie, and the other two ‘GI Joe’ movies, I think that maybe didn’t perform in the box office as much as Hasbro and Paramount would have liked,” Kirkman said during the Q&a portion of the “Transformers & G.I. Joe Return in The Energon Universe” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, hosted by Comicbook.com’s James Viscardi.

Ahead of its anticipated Season 1 finale on Friday, Amazon Studios has renewed Robert Kirkman’s Invincible for two more seasons. Seasons 2 and 3 of the adult animated series will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
“I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible,” said Kirkman. “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory [Walker] and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.”

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has always liked to tease that the real cause of the zombie outbreak in his long-running comic series was extraterrestrial in nature. Back in January 2020, Kirkman responded to a question on Twitter as to the zombie outbreak’s origin with a simple “space spore.”
This was a joke, of course, but it was also a stealthy shout out to what The Walking Dead could have been.
Kirkman originally developed The Walking Dead as a Night of the Living Dead comic. But when Image Comics encouraged him to develop his own idea so that he could control the IP, Kirkman concocted a “Plan 9 From Outer Space-esque tale of how the zombies were actually animated by an alien race that was preparing to invade Earth by disrupting its infrastructure.”
That obviously never came to pass and The Walking Dead would go on to tell 193 issues of...

Though many of its characters are morally gray, The Walking Dead has always been a black and white affair…at least in terms of the paper it’s printed on. Now, that’s set to change.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Walking Dead will return this October as The Walking Dead Deluxe. Creator Robert Kirkman’s studio Skybound Entertainment will be re-releasing each of the series’ 193 issues with some added features. For the first time ever, The Walking Dead will be printed in color, with colorist Dave McCaig joining the project to add color to illustrator Charlie Adlard’s art. Additionally, each issue will include a new installment of “The Cutting Room Floor,” which features original handwritten plots by Kirkman along with commentary about arcs the comic opted not to explore.

Tom Payne served on The Walking Dead for longer than most, starring as Paul “Jesus” Rovia on the post-apocalyptic drama from seasons 6-9, but the actor still thinks his character was a “letdown” to the fans. As he’s admitted before, the British performer elected to leave the series after he’d grown tired of Jesus always drawing the short straw. And in a new interview with Skybound’s Talk Dead To Me podcast, Payne has now elaborated on how he feels his role didn’t live up to the potential.
Payne recalled that he worked hard on his martial arts training, as per Jesus’ skillset, even though he ultimately never got to show it off much on screen. Given how the character is more prominent in the comic books, the star kept hoping that he would get more of a chance to shine, but ultimately decided that he didn...

With its regular bursts of brutal violence, The Walking Dead has never been short of controversial moments. One of the most lingering though, the untimely deaths of Glenn and Abraham in season 7 premiere “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be,” has now even been stated to have been too much by one of those involved.
If you recall (like you’ve somehow forgotten), the main characters ended season 6 being herded into a trap by the Saviors’ sheer force of numbers, their leader Negan revealing himself for the first time after several of his minions previously claimed the identity, and selecting one of the group for death in retaliation for the number of his soldiers they had killed in confrontations, the identity of whom was not revealed until the series returned in the fall.

What part of “The Walking Dead” didn’t you understand, America?
A little under a year after The Walking Dead comic series concluded with issue 193, writer Robert Kirkman and artist Charlie Adlard are bringing their project back from the dead for a single-issue story called “Negan Lives.”
Negan Lives #1 will ship to comic book shops in July and is aimed at helping stores recover from the economic damage caused by Covid-19. To that end, no digital copies of Negan Lives #1 will be made available for purchase. Additionally, Skybound Entertainment will be taking care of freight costs for shipments of the book, leaving local retailers without any financial burden to stock the issue. The book is expected to be available for release at comic shops across the country on Wednesday, July 1.

The Walking Dead has never shied away from gore, and season 5 has to be one of its grisliest ever years. If you need a reminder, that season saw Rick Grimes and company encounter the Terminus gang, nicknamed “Termites,” who turned out to be vicious cannibalistic monsters. Things got very bloody on both sides, as Rick’s lot repaid the Terminus group in kind by brutally wiping them out once they got free.
Things were so brutal, in fact, that Andrew J. West, who played Terminus leader Gareth, wondered whether the episodes he was in would even be allowed to air as shot. While speaking on Skybound’s Talk Dead To Me podcast, West recalled filming some of the horrific scenes from the season premiere, including when Gareth and his men slit a stray survivor’s throat, which led him to question whether any of this visceral footage could be used.

Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead movie will be “bigger” in scale, teases showrunner Scott Gimple.
AMC’s The Walking Dead famously ushered an explosive epic exit for its main character, Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, only to surprisingly tease a return for said character in a planned film trilogy. Yet, well over a year after that event – with the series preparing to premiere the second part of Season 10, with Season 11 already confirmed – we still know next to nothing about Rick’s movie medium crossover. Thankfully, the franchise’s appointed maestro, Scott M. Gimple, has provided a much-needed update on the features.
In an interview with EW, Gimple teases a bolder (and bigger) new direction for the continuing story of Rick Grimes, which is confirmed to premiere at theaters. Yet, despite the length of time since the October 2018 trilogy announcement, Gimple also...

Through Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series, we've seen how a living dead apocalypse would like like in North America (and we saw what it would be like in Barcelona in The Walking Dead: The Alien), but in Wesley Chu's new book Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead: Typhoon, we'll see what it's like when the living dead overrun Asia. Ahead of the novel's release this October from Skybound Books, the cover art, synopsis, and first excerpt from the 400-page book have been revealed.
Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead: Typhoon will be released in hardcover on October 1st from Skybound Books. You can check out the official synopsis and cover art below, and to read the first excerpt from Chu's book (following its premiere on The Hollywood Reporter), visit Skybound's website.

Max Landis, the screenwriter known for Bright and Chronicle, is coming under fire for his alleged mistreatment of women – again. The latest allegations, as detailed today in the Daily Beast, include charges that he sexually assaulted and mentally tortured several girlfriends, at least one of whom he allegedly threatened to kill. The Lapd, however, says that it has not received any complaints about him, and his reps did not return phone calls.
The latest of eight women to come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Landis is actress Ani Baker, an ex-girlfriend who posted on social media that “this person is really destructive,” while telling the Daily Beast that she has heard from other women “that I had never heard of who are like, ‘I too was tortured by this person.’”
“If you have found my page via Max Landis, hi,” Baker wrote on social media. “I’m going...

Oblivion Song, a (non-zombie) apocalypse comic from Robert Kirkman, is getting a movie treatment from studio Universal.
Oblivion Song, an Image Comics title introduced relatively recently, is already set for live-action glory; a notion that makes a lot more sense when you realize that the comic is the creation of Robert Kirkman, the mastermind behind Image’s The Walking Dead and the AMC cable TV franchise it spawned. However, this particular Kirkman adaptation is bound for the big-screen with studio Universal, which is partnering with Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment.
Robert Kirkman will help develop the Oblivion Song movie via Skybound, joined by company cohorts David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst, all of whom will work with Universal’s Jon Mone and Lexi Barta to bring the apocalyptic comic to life. While the director’s chair is still vacant, the script will be penned by an up-and-coming screenwriter in Sean O’Keefe,...

Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures said Tuesday they are developing Oblivion Song, a movie based on Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s sci-fi comic book series. Sean O’Keefe, who penned the upcoming Peter Berg-Mark Wahlberg pic Wonderland, will write the script.
Published by Skybound and Image Comics, Oblivion Song premiered at a monthly series in March 2018 that was written by The Walking Dead creator Kirkman and illustrated by De Felici. The story takes place one decade after 300,000 residents of Philadelphia suddenly were trapped in Oblivion. Frantic recovery efforts were launched by the government, but, after a few futile years, they were abandoned. Nathan Cole, however, hasn’t given up. He risks his life again and again trying to save those lost souls in Oblivion’s apocalyptic hellscape – but is that the real reason he can’t resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?

If you're not caught up with The Walking Dead comic book series, or you haven't read the series at all and wish to avoid The Walking Dead spoilers altogether, then go no further, for there are Major Spoilers Ahead.
It's something we knew would happen one day. Even in the early years of this website, it's something that Robert Kirkman told Daily Dead would happen. It's something he was planning to do for a long time. But that doesn't make it any less shocking now that it's happened.
Rick Grimes has been killed in The Walking Dead comic book series.
This may come as no surprise to readers of issue #191, which came out on May 1st from Skybound. That issue ended with Rick Grimes being shot in the chest in his own bed by a nighttime visitor, Sebastian Milton, who was none too pleased that Rick's speech to prevent a...

Spoiler Alert: This article includes key revelations from issue No. 192 of The Walking Dead, which goes on sale this week.
Ex-lawman Rick Grimes has been M.I.A. on AMC’s The Walking Dead since last November (when star Andrew Lincoln left the powerhouse series to focus on the upcoming tie-in feature film trilogy) but that’s not the case in the original version of The Walking Dead, the monthly Skybound/Image Comics series that will reach its 200th issue early next year.
Every issue of the history-making Image Comics series has been written by Robert Kirkman, the creator of both The Walking Dead universe and its most beloved citizen, Rick Grimes. The flinty Kentucky lawman became the earnest everyman hero of the brand but Kirkman maintained over the year that he never envisioned Grimes outliving The Walking Dead saga and its savageries.

It seems news of The Walking Dead‘s movie trilogy for Rick Grimes is right around the corner.
Or so says social media guru Johnny O’Dell, who recently fielded questions about AMC’s Walking Dead saga as part of Skybound’s mailbag feature (h/t ComicBook.com). Alas, O’Dell didn’t have much to share, but he did confirm that an official announcement will be made sooner rather than later.
It isn’t much to go on, but with The Walking Dead season 10 currently slated for a premiere in October, and the fifth season of Fear The Walking Dead expected to commence on Saturday, June 2nd, we fully expect AMC to divulge more details on that Rick Grimes movie trilogy during the summer.
Until then, we’ll just have to trust O’Dell’s judgment…
We promise you guys will get an update sooner rather than later. Seriously.
