Really more of an amble than a chase
Mr-Fusion15 December 2016
'Foot Chase' isn't nearly as nuts as last week, playing things more by-the-book than usual, but it does have some important developments. Raylan actually starts to respect Shelby thrown in together to track down Josiah Cairn (Gerald (McRaney) who's not doing so well after some kidnappers forcibly removed his ankle tether last week), and its clear Detroit is staging a larger presence in Harlan. A lot of this is Boyd and Ava, the latter of whom is desperate to ease her conscience after sending Ellen May to her death. It's a nice moment of weakness for this character that has bought in fully to the outlaw life.

With regard to the big Drew Thompson arc, there's some nice misdirection here, but on the whole, it's a somewhat stiff affair.

Warning: Spoilers
With the last week's episode ending with a sown of foot this week was probably the most fun episode of the season so far for many of the things that happened in the episode. Firstly I must talk about Boyd proposing to Ava at the end which was such a sweet moment and very unexpected for me being a fan of the show. Ava and Boyd are the couple of the show and seeing the big moment for them was nice for the writers to give us. Colt is just a bad character for me as he makes no sense but I guess that is what most drug takers are like how they take no responsibility for their actions and the fact he assaulted the whore only to not take responsibility is quite a stupid thing for the character to do. Raylan and the Sheriff working together this week was nice as we see these two men of the law with different views on how to handle it. Seeing Josiah with his foot cut off and then men that were responsible for it being quite idiotic not thinking they would be caught so easily in that small space. The episode was strong and the proposal by Boyd was both earned and such a romantic moment for a show that is so country.

EPISODE GRADE: B+ (MVP: Walton Goggins)
