Watchable predictable Cinderella theme movie
mosquitocyn6 June 2024
This is an easy watch with a nice leading lady. It follows the Cinderella theme with a few twists and no fairy godmother. Whilst there'are a lot of clinches and cheesy moments, it is still an enjoyable watch. I guess the sea and holiday setting make it easy going. The romance between "Cinderella" and her mate appeared to be rather sudden. I thought they make compatible close friends instead of a young romantic couple. The chemistry was lacking between them. In any case the movie seems best targeted for family audience. It fits well for a movie to be watched during family vacations or lazy days at home.

Don't even waste your time by watching ANY of this movie

Just the usual rubbish from Brian Brough and Brittany Wiscombe. She writes them poorly and he directs them stiffly. Most of the plots are extremely predictable and the actors show no great range. The stereotypes of evil stepmother (here) or evil aunt in "Not Cinderella's Type". These characters are so poorly acted, directed, and definitely not worth your time.

This movie has "Cinderella" as the poor hardworking stepchild of the evil step mommy. Cinderella is "praised" for all her hard work at school, her student teaching, and work, but evil step mommy wants her to drop everything to come to the Caribbean for evil mommy's new wedding to a rich dude. Cinderella is basically used as a work horse for the wedding, not allowed to be a bridesmaid, the evil step sister gets to do that. The evil gambling step brother is supposed to walk evil mommy down the aisle. Cinderella isn't even allow to each with the evil family or the new bridegroom's family because she's supposed to do stuff. She's left a plate of food on her bed with flies all over it. I think the flies are truly a metaphor for the piece of flushable material that this movie is.

I had to turn the movie off only because I was so tired of watching a spineless wanna-be Cinderella never standing up for herself. Even Disney's Cinderella had some spunk when dealing with her stepsisters.

I never developed any empathy for Cinderella or her love instead of her future stepmommy's new husband's daughter. It seems like the movie is trying to be a rehash of a more popular movie by this director and writer "Not Cinderella's Type". That movie too had stiff acting where you never felt any sympathy for any of the characters. In that movie, I felt more sadness in the killing of that Cinderella's cat (killed in the first 6 minutes of the movie) killed by the Prince Charming. Trust me, it was a creepy relationship in that movie.

Well in this move, I felt relief at turning the movie off, feeling like I escaped a form of torture. Do yourself a favor and don't watch this drivel.

Leading Lady the Best!

I know, I know, this movie has all the makings of a crappy, rehashed plot, Hallmark movie. But for me, it was very watchable because of the lead actress, Emma Reinagel. Really, can you expect anything serious with the name Cinderella in the title? So just go with it have some semi-mindless fun. Like I wrote, I enjoyed the interactions, even if they were cheesy at best. Perhaps I also gave it good marks as I hate most movies out today and just wanted to watch and relax at dinner time. This fit the bill perfectly. Is watching a delightful, pretty woman ever a waste? No, I say! And if you haven't caught on by now, I agree that the movie plot isn't actually strong enough to comment on much, but I have to satisfy the word limit. Enjoy it!

Warning: Spoilers
I have a soft spot for Cinderella adaptations, and I never miss a chance to watch them. "Cinderella in the Caribbean," directed by Brian Brough, stars Emma Reinagel as Ashlyn and Conor McGee as Noah.

In this contemporary take, Ashlyn, a hardworking student striving to become a teacher, is coerced by her stepmother Miriam into joining the family on a Caribbean trip for Miriam's destination wedding. Despite living independently, Ashlyn is quickly reminded of her stepfamily's tendency to belittle and exploit her. To complicate matters, Miriam's fiancé, Bruce, is a kind-hearted man completely unaware of Miriam's true nature. Amidst this chaos, Ashlyn finds solace and the beginnings of love with Bruce's son, Noah. However, she struggles to secure her happily ever after while her stepfamily threatens to ruin Bruce.

While the plot is somewhat predictable-since we all know the leads will end up together-the movie is far from boring. The interactions are engaging, and the acting is subtle and not cringeworthy. Emma Reinagel's portrayal of Ashlyn is relatable as she balances work and studies in the States.

Miriam, the "evil" stepmother, played with convincing malice, drops the bombshell of her wedding plans and demands Ashlyn's presence at her destination wedding, not out of affection, but due to Bruce's insistence on family bonding. The step-siblings, Fiona and Jerry, add to Ashlyn's misery with their jealousy and animosity.

Noah, played by newcomer Conor McGee, instantly senses something amiss with his new family. The subplot involving Miriam's ulterior motives for marrying Bruce adds an intriguing twist, revealing that Bruce, despite his good-natured persona, is no fool.

Kudos to writer Brittany Wiscombe for crafting a contemporary spin on a classic tale. Her previous work, "Not Cinderella's Type," also offers a fresh take on the Cinderella story and is worth watching.

Overall, "Cinderella in the Caribbean" is an enjoyable and heartwarming film that brings a beloved fairy tale to a vibrant, tropical setting. It's a delightful watch for anyone who loves a modern Cinderella story with a dash of romance and a hint of intrigue.

It's Cinderella with a Tropical Twist
TheresaWhetstone2 June 2024
Cinderella in the Caribbean is a blend of fantasy meets romance, good vs not-so-good and the entitled receiving their comeuppance.

Ashlyn, portrayed by Emma Reinagel, is a hard working student living stateside and supporting herself toward her college degree.

Out of the blue, enter her "evil" stepmother, Miriam, who announces she's getting married again in one week and insists Ashlyn drop everything and come be present at her destination wedding.

Ashlyn quickly finds out that the invitation was not extended because of motherly-love, but because Miriam's fiancé (Bruce) is insisting that Ashlyn join them at their rented villa in the Caribbean for family bonding during the nuptial preparations.

Next we meet the evil step children, a step-sister (Fiona) and a step-brother (Jerry) both playing their parts admirably. Their animosity and jealousy toward Ashlyn only get worse as the week progresses.

Then we meet Bruce's son, Noah. The kind-hearted and cute Noah (portrayed by romance new-comer Conor McGee) senses immediately that there is something off about his new, happy family.

Miriam has a motive for marrying Bruce, and I'm here to tell ya it's not for love. She's about to find out that wealthy, good guy Bruce is no fool.

Kudos to writer/actress Brittany Wiscombe for not only this contemporary take on an old tale, but spinning the same trope in her 2018 adaptation "Not Cinderella's Type," also a good watch.

So, my verdict on the Caribbean version?

IMDB gives Cinderella in the Caribbean a rating of 6.3. I think it deserves a higher rating of 7.5 and a place in your plans for a don't-bother-me weekend escape.
