guinevere turns evil

It was great seeing guinevere turn evil and start plotting against camelot, this was an obvious plot choice but it works out really well. i get a kick out of seeing good people turn bad and i am sure that it gave the actors much more to work with than usual. not that they are bad as they are far from it, but acting involves showing different sides this makes for proper drama. merlin is outstanding as a tv show and getting proper character development twists conflicts and shading just makes it even better. merlin gets blamed for it all of course leading to some extremely exciting sequences as he is chased around camelot and has to stay one step ahead of his pursuers, using all of his knowledge and magical skills in the process. just what entertainment was made for. there is a distinct what know vibe to the closing scenes, as we wonder what arthur will do next and what plot guinevere and behind her morgana are hatching.

an enemy within

Fun to see the ever faithful Gwen turned evil, its a welcome mix-up. Arthur is poisoned for the umpteenth time, which is getting a bit old.

Terrible

We get 4 seasons building up a huge love story with Gwen and Arthur and now suddenly we are asked to believe that she is super evil, murders a servant, and tries to kill Arthur repeatedly. Sure, she might be enchanted, but murder?! It's too much, and it feels more contrived than usual. If she is not enchanted, then it's terrible writing. If she is enchanted, then we've seen this plot before. I would love to see the main plot arc make some progress. When do we get to see Merlin become more than a servant? When does magic start to become legal again? P. S. Merlin should get some credit some day. P. P. S. The castle prison in the show is the least secure prison of all time. Nearly every character put in there escapes - which I think is truly hilarious.

Lame and lazy character twist

There is absolutely no logical reason for Gwen becoming evil based on the previous episode. This is a ridiculous character change for no reason other than lazy script writing for a plot twist. There is nothing to indicate that Gwen suddenly became Morgana's pawn based on the dark tower mental torture. Ugh, I say ugh, when Arthur and his knights risked everything to save her, with her brother dying in the effort due to Morgana abducting her, that she should now try to kill Arthur.

I have struggle with this series based on its very loose storytelling with Arthurian legend, but there are some good episodes and I just pretended it wasn't realted to. But the writers have really jumped the shark.
