I Think Peaky Blinders Is Great!
gab-1471211 July 2021
Peaky Blinder's second episode is a vast reminder of this show's distinctive style. I loved the visual flair that director Otto Bathurst and cinematographer George Steele bring to the table. This episode is a strong episode that continues to fleshen out the characters and their relationships with one another. The fighting sequences are intense and visceral. Shelby and his gang start the episode fighting their gypsy neighbors and they don't hold back with their imagery. The performances continue to be very strong particularly Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill. Their one-on-one meeting to discuss the missing guns truly electrified me. Sam Neill is a legend, and he captivates me in every scene he is in.

In this episode (these episodes are unnamed), Thomas continues to keep his eye on Grace unaware that Campbell put her there to spy on the gang. Shelby fights the Lees, a gypsy gang, who later sends him a bullet with his name on it. Another adversary in addition to Billy Kimber, who has his own horse racing empire. This clash is to help ensure a working relationship between Kimber and the Shelbys. Meanwhile, Campbell sends Tommy a message through Aunt Polly to discuss the missing guns. Tommy proposes that if Campbell leaves him alone, he will return the guns. If he is arrested, he will send them to the IRA. Campbell reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile, Ada is now pregnant with Freddie Thorne's child, which allows Polly to make a fantastic speech. Tommy tells Freddie to leave and not to return, but Freddie may have other ideas in mind.

Overall, a great second episode! This episode has excellent characterization thanks to Steven Knight's powerful screenplay. It also seems like he is going to tackle PTSD down the line. It seems like Tommy is suffering based on his experiences during the war. Tommy has some excellent scenes with Grace, who is an enchanting character herself. The pregnancy portion of the plot is not my favorite although it gives Polly some excellent lines to prove she is the beating heart of the family. Fantastic episode!

My Grade: A.

This Show Is Continues To Exceed My Expectations
madelynmcfly-202746 February 2023
This show continued to exceed my expectations, and had a very strong follow-up. I find Grace to be a very good, multi-facited character, and I look forward to seeing where the show takes her with her relationships. However, I'm not a huge fan of Billy Kimber, and I hope they cast the actor to be annoying and unimtimatating, and unlikeable, because that's how it feels. Episode 2 is definitely keeping me hooked, and I can't wait to watch more of the series. Peaky Blinders is a show that has a ton of high praise, so I can't wait to see if there will be more in it for me, and I'm quite excited for what the show has in store.

Another really good Peaky Blinders episode!
philipposx-1229018 August 2018
So, Peaky Blinders. I'm 2 episodes in, and it's really a great show so far. The second episode of Season One is on par, if not better than the first episode. What's great, is that we get an complete character study of Tommy Shelpy, played brilliantly by Cillian Murphy. In Episode One we saw how clever he thinks and how many steps he thinks ahead from his enemies.

The pacing is straightforward, but not too fast. We have like 2 or 3 different plot lines and a lot of different character motivations. The plot really has some complexity to it and there is a lot of mystery so that we can surely assume there are going to be some huge plot twists in the future.

As for style and setting; it's all unique. The atmosphere is great and really puts you into 1910/20s in Birmingham. The soundtrack is also really fitting. I found some of the editing to be a bit clumsy, but that's a nitpick.

Other than that, I want to know how this story continues and it's one of my favorite shows I'm watching right now!

Why these Modern Haircut ??
nicofreezer10 June 2021
I have a huge problem with the Haircut in this show... These are modern Haircut, a style that appear in the 2010's , so why in the hell do they have these in 1919 WTF ?! I have a hard Time getting above

Anyway above that, this second episode ( yes they did not even give names to the episodes... ) is better than the first one, Many more thing happen , i feel like number 2 should have been the pilot.

This is a brilliant show and it's actually well written with amazing acting

Warning: Spoilers
The policeman didn't dodge the draft, his job was a "reserved occupation" along with other work such as mining, dock work, railway engineers and skilled machinists. These positions had to be filled to maintain the war effort and just to run the country in general. There was no point conscripting these men and then having to train others to replace them. "Now Why would i shake the hand of a man who didn't even fight for his country?" is one of my favorites lines in the show and one that is really powerful, and it hits even harder, when you understand the different layers from the characters. Peaky Blinders is Amazing!

to the races

A lot happening in this episode, as far as developing multiple storylines, but it mostly works. The characters have depth and the acting and costuming make the series feel authentic.

Shaky Camera!
arjunashok-898027 March 2022
Brilliant script as usual and kudos to the performance of everyone. I just don't see why the director and team needs to depend on such gimmicks to fool the audience of the times with the help of a shaking camera. There are no such dependencies required when the show can stand on its own.

Do you need to be drunk to watch this?
zwiktuut14 June 2023
Another boring episode that doesnt represent the rating of 8,8..... The character of Polly is getting annoying and worse by the minute. Who the hell taught this was an addition to the series? It look likes feminism has allready taken place in the 20's..... I hope she dies soon (in the serie).

Except for the great details in the enviorement the rest is absolutely boring and i'm still waiting till something exciting will happen.

Pro's

Detailed filming and scene's Music

Cons

Boring Polly Lets sing a song Predictable Vodoo When will something happen?

Do you need to be drunk to look at this?.

Predictable
dave-benson5323 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Clever Irish gangster outwits Italian mob by faking death of compatriot (as if the mafia would leave an execution in the hands of anyone but themselves) - check. Clever Irish gangster outwits cardboard-cutout stern dimwitted police inspector (who obviously became a feared inspector because he's so dumb and easily cowed) - check. Police inspector instructs pretty girl to get into bed with clever Irish gangster to gain information - check. Pretty girl to fall in love with clever Irish gangster in future episode - check. Didn't need watch any more to know how things generally play out. Have at it, fans.
