Usually art films focus on history or personalities or techniques or aesthetic issues. This one offers an introduction to lithographic techniques (three different media are demonstrated) alongside a history of lithography used as a means of social and political protest. There are also some vague critiques of recent political debacles, including the Vietnam War, the 2003 Iraq war and the use of waterboarding by the US government.

As odd as all of that may sound, this rather eclectic mix ended up being fairly interesting. My favorite parts were the ones dealing specifically with the complicated, time-consuming lithographic techniques used to produce prints. I also enjoyed the insights of the three different contemporary printmakers featured.
