Aubrey Plaza is exceptional, give her all the love & Emmys
kikilangmore31929 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show has continued to get better and better each week, which is something I highly respect. The music by Cristobal Tapia de Veer never disappoints, and is crucial to the vacation aesthetic of the show.

Despite the large number of main characters, each one complex and relatable. I always think it's such a treat when I watch something and can't tell who I'm rooting for. Each character is in a position that is uniquely challenging and poses a new piece of conflict, all intertwined by the resort. It's been great watching all the storylines overlap as we come close to the end.

I would say Aubrey Plaza was the star of this episode for me. Her performance in this show is one of the best I've seen in quite some time, and it seems to be so nuanced while still being powerful. Some of the more memorable moments involve almost no dialogue, and yet still say a lot just based on the characters facial expressions. We watch Harper become the thing she so desperately wanted to distance herself from, and yet I understand both Ethan and Harper's points of views. It's great to have a show like this that seems so accurate in terms of real life situations that we find ourselves in. I love this show and I will be deeply upset when it ends.

Things are heating up
solojere28 November 2022
Things are heating up in the White Lotus in more ways than one. The thing about this show is that you never really know in what direction the writers are going to take the story. So far, I have found Aubrey Plaza's character's story the most interesting. In this episode, she further explores her husband's night out and tries to get to the bottom of their friend's strange relationship. Also, the story between the three generations of men and the female escorts has some interesting turns in this episode. And that ending, wow. I won't spoil anything, but this really is one of those shows that you have to watch for yourselves. It is that good. I'm excited to see where things go from here.

Stunning, in every sense of the word
scootmandu-662-3056001 December 2022
I have enjoyed "The White Lotus" very much, and this season even more than the first. However, it wasn't until this episode that i truly grasped what is making this as special as it is.

First of all, this is, for me, hands down, the most visually stunning cinematography I have ever seen in a series. It's not just the settings. It is the lushness of the way each frame is filled, the artistry that intermeshes one scene into the next. The musical selections are sheer perfection. And then, on top of that, you have all of these interesting story lines coming together. We almost forget that the initial episode starts with a tragedy and this is just a flashback to it. One never knows where it will go to next. I will say, though, that I did anticipate what this episode's final sequence was going to be.

I can't remember a show getting this much better with every passing week. And this one started out strongly to begin with.

Mike White's artistry is on full display here. I have liked his work since I discovered him back in his early days ("Chuck and Buck"). I never realized that he would continue to grow and evolve into such an incredibly accomplished writer and director. I watched tonight's episode unfold almost not wanting it (or the series) to end.

Everything from, the superb cast, to the nuanced, multi-layered dialogue that seamlessly transitions from English to Italian and back again, to the magnificent opera house, was a sheer delight to watch. Even the quieter moments, like the "That's Amore" performance, is just exquisite.

I guess if I had to define this particular episode and series with one word, that would be it...

Exquisite.

Didn't think they could pull it off
AfricanBro1 December 2022
After season one I thought this would be better left as a miniseries but 5 episodes in now and I'm actually enjoying season 2 more than the first, it's more of the same as s1 meaning you'll have to watch the whole season to fully enjoy the show and unravel the mystery. I love how it's a whodunnit but for most of the season, you're really just watching the lives of intertwined couples and families at a resort and waiting to see how it all comes together, this time around in Italy not Maui. Pretty good idea for the show to have it as an anthology series, with Jennifer Coolidge as the string that connects the two seasons even though she's not my favorite character but arguably the more interesting ones. Amazing new cast additions, most notably Aubrey Plaza but the rest are great too.

I'm a sucker for love stories so I'm really invested in all the entanglements that I forget it's a murder-mystery and almost spits in the face of others in the genre because it doesn't focus on murder for the most part even though all roads lead down that way. It's less so of the second season, but one of the shows best quality is it's relatable and not in the sense of you have a connection with these characters but more like you know or have known someone like them in your life. I love how even with all the drama the show immerses you in it still has time to be funny. And of course, the least you could ask from a mystery series, the plot twists and turns are exceedingly shocking. Definitely worth watching.

Theo James is brilliant
Britsahil12324 August 2023
This is the episode where you realise the motive behind Cameron's actions so far, most notably in that undressing scene in episode 1. Theo James is brilliant as the scheming Cameron that one loves to hate but still charismatic enough for Harper to be attracted to. Will Sharpe, Aubrey Plaza and Meghan Fahy are also fantastic and for me it was their storylines which were the most compelling this season. The tone is noticeably not as funny as season 1, it's leaning more towards dramatic tone but still a very compelling watch. The mystery of the dead body ties in well with the story and keeps you guessing.

Who's your uncle
safenoe3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm still wondering which bodies floated in the first episode and how they ended up there, and That's Amore features the beautiful singing voice of Beatrice Granno as Mia, crooning That's Amore in the resort lounge, as she's been given the gig until Giuseppe (Federico Scribani Rossi) recovers from his amore with Mia with the ablets and all. Anyway, the ending was very shocking with Jack and Quentin doing the two beasts together, with Tania discovering them, and she's shocked and no doubt the audience was meant to be shocked init. Anyway, maybe in the next episode the big reveal about the bodies will be made.

The great unravelling
Criticalstaff1 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The previous episode was kind of a reset after situations and characters that were pushed to the extremes. This episode is again one of tensions being stressed, of dramatic confrontations and emotional explosions. It is one of great unravelling of sorts. There are a lot of shifts, new dynamics created by the dramatic tensions exacerbated until now. Yet, I did not enjoy this episode as much. Most of these shifts did not really come organically and feel like they were created ex nihilo.

All of a sudden Harper, confronted with her husbands deception is embracing the vapidity of Daphne and Cameron. I could understand lashing out, as a provocation. A fighting fire with fire approach in a sense. But, here it appears she is actively engaging in the behaviour she was against from the very beginning. She was the most morally centred character. The only one able to differentiate right from wrong. Her arc now is built on the idea that her husband's behaviour was the push needed for the scales to tip. It feels like a betrayal of her character.

Similarly, Lucia who was on a sincere path of soul searching last episode is now returned to her shrewd money making ways. Not only that, but she is more cunning and two-faced than before apparently. Albie is not a way out, he is just another john. The introduction of her panderer, so late in the story, makes me feel that it is merely a con aimed a Albie. The panderer is never mentioned in the conflict with Cameron where she would actually need it. Also it seems that the showrunners kinda forgot that this is Sicily. I am okay with that, but the prevalence of organised crime is unfortunately very real and it is disappointing that the show disregards it so blatantly. It is okay to not mention it, but when you have plot with prostitution, panderers, illegal drugs and latent violence now you're in a territory where it feels weird not to mention it.

Also what is this five-star facility where streetwalkers are running literally un-checked. The way the local girls vs. Management conflict got deflated so quickly and painlessly; one cant help but feel like it was not that serious in the first place.

As for Tanya's adventures, the real unravelling might come later. For now it appears that people she described as gays, were in fact gay! It is also somehow disappointing, because the show was teasing something a bit more risqué. It could have played on the fact that Tanya is not very discerning and that they were not actually as gay as she thought (why were they eyeing her in the restaurant in that case?). Also in White Lotus, why are all the Brits gay?

Anyway, this episode feels like that last season of Game of Thrones, where it turns out that they came up with this stuff as they went along. And most of the things you though lead to something meant nothing.

Nothing more than porn
obxfanever1 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Lots of scenes of people having sex. It's very disturbing. I don't see any purpose for all the graphic sex scenes other than the shock value. Very over the top and unnecessary. I don't understand all the high ratings for this episode.

I also don't understand the review saying they were surprised by this episode. I could see the twist coming from a mile away. This is way too much like season one. It just feels like a repeat.

I don't even know if I'm going to watch the rest of the season. I might just read recaps to find out who the dead bodies are from the first episode, but I already have my guesses.
