A very interesting and nice journey.

There is Bora-Bora with its luxury tourism, but also there are cheaper places for tourism: the famous "pensions de famille" (boarding houses):Marc Dauphin , the owner of the Reva Teahupoo Boarding House offers a stay in a beautiful place with fruit trees (guavas) for about 100 Euros per day (are incluided the boat tours to see whales).

Cedric Lombaerde has choosen a very cheap way to spend his stay in Polynesia: lodging and food against voluntary work on the bio farm of Jean-Philippe "Rasta" Kohhumdetini:

Moeata Galenon, captain of the double Polynesian canoe (Faafaite) is showing to her visitors how to navigate without instruments (considering the positions of the sun in the day and the positions of th stars in the night). Teiva Veronique, who has been on the Faafaite for some course is now promoting the Polynesian canoeing : now about 1.000 persons know how to manage a Polynesian canoes.

French Polynesia is now a sanctuary for sharks: Xavier Curvat, a diving coach, is taking care for the sharks and Frédéric Torrente, an anthropologist of the University of Polynesia is explaining to the students the importance of the Parata shark in the traditional Polynesian culture.

Besides Nicolas Buray of the Observatoires des requins de Polynésie is taking pictures of the sharks in the sea.

I enjoyed also the zoom about the Aranui 5, a freighter who navigates betweeen Papeete and the Marquesas Islands: Cyrille Houles is in charge of checking all the freight: then the freighter receives 230 cruise passengers (a 12 days travel with 9 stops): at the Vaipree Island Ornelia Brown and her dog Dora are checking the freight (because they are afraid of the black rat who destroys the coconut plantations). Finally the freighter arrives at the Hiva Oa island where Paul Gauguin and Jacques Brel are buried: the guide Pascal Erhel Hatuuku tells a nice anecdote about the Belgian singer who helped the people of the island with his airplace (transporting mail and goods).

Then we know Teahupoo , the place of the big surfing wave : Tim Mc Kenna, a photographer is taking pictures of the young surfer girls in the wave: Caroline Zembrowski, the mother of the 8 years old surfer Kelia, explains that they live on a catamaran: the life of the children is school, surfing and swimming.

In a mountain valley Teiva Tiaipoi and his friends are celebrating the beginning of the rain seasons: a moment to give tribute to the ancestors : they can feel the "Mana" ( the force of the elements of the nature (the sky, the sea, the earth, the fire).

I enjoyed the encounters of Ismaël with Pierre Florentin (the paragliding flight), with Hinatea Bernadino, the Polynesian canoe world champion , with Annick Paofai (the Bonjouir borading house), with Taiano Teiho (the coral gardener), with Charlotte Esposito (the snorkeling among the rays and the little sharks) and with Titaua Raapooto, the French professor (the tree planting, , the kayaking, the cleansing ritual and the marae): very nice encounters with kind Polynesian men and women.
