Confused
deb1965-17-1001518 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has confused me because as far as I can recall, it is the only episode in the entire show, where the wesen, in this case the mother, actually turns into a REAL bear at the end. Why? Doesn't make sense.

Having Fun in the Wrong Place
claudio_carvalho19 March 2014
Rocky Babb and his girlfriend Gilda Darner break in an isolated manor in the woods to have fun. They wear clothes of the owners, drink wine and have sex on their bed. Out of the blue, the owner returns home and Gilda escapes, jumping from the varanda; however Rocky does not succeed and goes missing.

The lawyer Frank Rabe, who owns the house, reports to the police while Gilda asks Nick to investigate what has happened to Rocky. Meanwhile a woman tries to kill Marie in the hospital and Nick asks Monroe to guard her and he shows a bear claw that belongs to Marie to him. Monroe explains to him that the claw is used by Jägerbars in a hunting named roh-hatz that is their rite of passage. Nick suspect of Rabe's son Barry and his two friends T.B. and Jason Colbert.

The second episode of "Grimm" is an entertaining story but inferior to the "Pilot". The plot is not well resolved with the youths arrested since Rocky and Gilda saw that the members of the Rabe family are monster. Rabe is bear written backwards. Marie died too early since she was a promising character. My vote is seven.

Grimm - Bears Will Be Bears
Scarecrow-882 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
A lawyer and his wife's home is invaded by a couple, to raise a little hell, drink their liquor, and eat their food (not to mention, dress in their clothes), not knowing that the family is a Jagerbar tribe, set to follow in their ancestors' footsteps through a ceremonial hunt in the woods…the very couple will be those chosen for the hunt. Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) was established at the end of the previous episode as an enemy of Marie Kesler and wants her out of the way so she won't convince Nick to further the cause of her and his family lineage, stopping monsters from committing crimes against humanity. In "Bears Will Be Bears", Nick realizes that the sons of Frank and Diane Rabe (Currie Graham and Jodie Harwood) plan to orchestrate their hunt against breaking-and-entering bad kids, Rocky and Gilda (Alexander Mendeluk and Amy Gumenick). While Rocky and Gilda are far from innocent, murdering them through a hunt-and-slaughter isn't necessarily the right thing to do. While Diane encourages her sons' remaining loyal to their heritage, Nick does convince Frank that the decision of the hunt would only bring devastating consequences to his family. Meanwhile Sean and his henchwoman, Adalind (Claire Coffee) continue their plot of "removing Marie from the equation". Sean wants her to use human thugs to kill Marie this time instead of herself (or other monsters of her kind) that could be less likely exposed. Thankfully for Nick, he was able to talk Monroe (much to his dismay and argument; Marie is, after all, a monster hunter/killer, while Monroe is one of them she'd kill if provoked) into watching over Marie which leads to some hired thugs engaged in a battle with him in a hospital laundry room. Still, Marie was bound to exit stage left eventually and a successful struggle with a hired killer dressed as a priest exhausts her beyond any other help. Nick now must go it alone without Marie's guidance. Not as exciting second episode allows the Marie character to leave the show gracefully, by turning a scalpel onto the killer. Nick being able to talk it out with Frank indicates that avoidance between hunter and monster fight can occur. Tragedy involving Diane was bound to happen, though, as her creature's history and continuance of their heritage is vitally important and cherished by her…that her own sons' trap pit would stop her adds a degree of irony to the whole hunt. I think what hurts this episode is that those in trouble are rather juvenile and naughty troublemakers while the family seem to exacting a bit of justice against them. That there isn't much suspense and that Nick resolves the situation with the Rabes a bit too easily is a bit disappointing.

S1.E2 - Bear Stuff [7.6/10]
panagiotis19934 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E2) My Live Reaction / Review for Grimm Season 1 Episode 2 ''Bears Will Be Bears''. I gave the previous episode a rating of 7.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Some creature attacked this guy Rocky. I wonder if all the crimes in the show are connected to supernatural creatures. The son of the family who has the house is a creature? Could he be responsible for what happened to Rocky? So no more police officers for Nick's aunt? The captain really wants her dead it seems. Monroe is a fun guy, I hope he is in more episodes. They don't use too much VFX, I wish they would use VFX for the creatures for longer than a few seconds. Overall this episode was good, my rating is 7.6/10.
