funny, real, poignant

The best thing I can say about any movie or TV show is that it's real, with believable characters, realistic situations, and writing that sounds the way people actually talk. (Oh, and if there's anything technical in a scene, it should be operated in a realistic way. I'm looking at you, "House".)

"Casters" feels real. These characters are like actual people you just haven't met yet. They're your new neighbors or your coworker's roommates or your friends' friends. So you care about them and want to follow what happens.

And bravo on the realistic representation of podcasting. The best I've seen represented on TV so far.

Sets The Bar For Web Series Dramas
riku-718 October 2012
I run a blog centered around web series productions called 'The Snobby Robot' and once a week I highlight a web series for discussion. Most of my readers are web creators and they are learning how to make better shows.

For the most part web series - especially dramas - need a lot of work, and I like to look at where shows can improve. A couple of months back I highlighted the show 'Casters' and while it was not perfect it was a joy to watch.

The show had great characters, quality acting, funny dialogue - it was all there - and all of it had depth. Since that viewing I've often referred to the show as 'setting the bar' for dramatic web series because it does everything well - it has a reason for existing and it deserves peoples attention.

Ignore the one star reviews, watch the show for yourself, and give it an honest chance. I think it will stick with you, and you'll be glad you did.

Great web series

Casters contains smart writing and excellent acting. Jason Griffith, Miriam Pultro, Joshua Tussin deliver stellar performances. The show definitely has heart. I really enjoy Erin Gould's writing. The dialogue is sharp and at times very funny. I wish there were more episodes, but I know that web shows are costly. The show could easily go several seasons. I totally see Aaron Sorkin's influence in the dialogue . All the characters have complexity which is rare on a lot of dramatic web series. I'm excited to see what Erin Gould does next. I'm sure he has many other web series' in him. It's inspiring see web creators that are so ambitious.

The Best of WebTV

Sharp dialogue, high production values, interesting characters and a lot of fun! This is what the internet is all about. Watch this show!

Casters examines the lives of 20-somethings in New York as they search for their voice. Their popular PodCast "Bring It Up" allows them an outlet as they deal with the realities of romantic relationships, family drama and addiction.

Writer/Producer/Director Erin Gould channels his inner Aaron Sorkin with all the wit and gravitas that go with the territory.

In just a few short episodes, we watch Ronnie, Cal and Owen define what it means to be successful and examine the consequences of that success. I highly recommend Casters!
