In the ninth episode of "Highschool of the Dead", we finally see more of the character of Saeko, the dark blue haired, katana wielding schoolgirl, whose name it took me the longest to learn. And let's just say there's a reason why "Saeko" sounds so much like "psycho".
Saeko inexplicably freezes when she is faced with some zombie children, so Takashi must save her, and then they hole up in a shrine. (I don't remember them getting separated, but the whole episode is just Takashi and Saeko.)
In the shrine we finally learn something about Saeko other than that she's good with a katana and wears dark panties. She tells Takashi a story about how she was almost raped and almost killed the rapist. What's more... she enjoyed it. Takashi says he has also felt exhilarated after blowing apart zombies, but Saeko insists he only feels that way since the pandemic hit, and she felt that when she almost killed the scumbag would-be-rapist.
Takashi embraces Saeko, accepting her, but maybe also... getting physically intimate with her? The show just cuts to the next day, leaving us in the dark.
The episode ends with Saeko totally regaining the ability to slice and dice zombies, though it's still unexplained how she lost that ability in the first place. Was it because she was uncomfortable with how much she enjoys killing?
Takashi later reads Saeko a riot act about how she's accepted despite her "psycho" nature, and he does so while pawing her breast, perhaps just for extra fan service? Or to show that they did indeed become physically intimate the night before?
I dunno.
This was a good episode, but perhaps not as good as many of the others, so I give it a 7.
