A tale of two parties basically with almost the entire cast present, as the adults(and Romeo and Indi)gather to celebrate John's birthday and the teens get ready for their exams.There's some nice character stuff here, with Marilyn's generous attempts to get Sid and Roo back together and Sid standing up to Harvey but then making a mess of things.John trying to convince everyone that he's 49 and Gina casually letting slip that he's 52 brings some gentle humour and, although their first scene is slightly laboured, the fact Miles and Leah have just lost a baby is worked in nicely.
Meanwhile, over in the teen camp, Xavier gets a show stealing turn as he complains about the River Boys and supports Ruby.His random comment about her forehead feels very natural.Dexter attempts to be the protective big brother but fails to stop Sasha going off and leaves April feeling neglected.It's great to see Summer again, although it's a shame she always seems to end up being someone's rebound girl.It's good that she gets a scene with Xavier afterwards that stops her being too much of a plot device.
