Best.Season.Ending.Ever.

Oh my goodness, this was SO awesome!!! The episode was full of excitement, twists, and so many changes!

Wow, I loved this episode from the wedding, to the mission, to the new evil guy, to the absolutely fantastic ending!! I loved the ending sooooo much! Cannot wait to watch the first episode of season five ( in a few minutes)!!!

This episode had me laughing, crying, it gave me goose-bumps, it seriously gave me all the feels. It was just so so good. I cannot understand how sarahm17 and skay_baltimore can write consistently bad reviews. It must not be their type of show at all. I really love this entire series!

I have binge-watched this Chuck series more than any other show in a very long time!

Season finale
LoveIsAStateOfMind29 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, call me confused but I thought the device was meant to kill someone almost instantaneously? Wouldn't Sarah be dead before they got her into a bath of ice cubes (I gather that slows down the effect of the device?)? Oh wait, we're not really meant to be too concerned with the semantics are we? General has legs again! So many cute moments ..... I know Chuck/Sarah have a lot of cute moments generally but man they were CUTE in this episode! The opening scene in bed! The dry run of the wedding! Morgan talking to Sarah whilst she's unconscious.

The way that Ellie tells Devon to take out the CIA guard all business like! I LOVE that moment! Awesome is so Awesome! CASEY!!! The CAT Squad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Casey's "Russians .... so many Russians!" Throughout this whole episode Casey was totally my favourite character.

LMAO! The church sign! TPTB are SO CRUEL! OMG Casey's crying!!! OMG FLASHBACK MONTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!! I know they had to make the wedding as different to Awesome/Ellie's as possible and they made this one ~serious~ rather than humorous but I still missed having a Jeffster performance! I don't like what Decker said about them all being pawns. If what he says is true then it's all other-worldly and confusing and brain can't handle it and I don't want to get into a situation where "Chuck/Sarah happened because it was planned". Can we just ignore that whole conversation actually.

I also do not like that Morgan got the Intersect. I have issues. I think it would be an interesting/humorous way to end the series if this was the series finale and we didn't actually have to explore Morgan+Intersect but having it play out on screen next season? Meh. Can he have it for like 2 episodes and then have it suppressed and given back to Chuck? I do quite like the idea of Chuck/Sarah/Casey being freelance spies and the fact that Chuck has a hell of a lot of money. Also liked the way the Volkoff storyline played out and it ended with him definitely being good and not becoming evil again which I feared throughout the whole episode. I mean overall the Volkoff storyline turned out the have a pretty good ending - the fact that he was actually a good guy and it was all a persona due to the intersect? Nice twist. I think the whole Vivian Volkoff thing was a bit meh but even that turned out to be okay in the end.

However, I'm going to be honest and say that I am so glad that this was not the series finale because it was a little anti-climatic; I have enjoyed pretty much every other season finale more than this one (not to say I didn't enjoy this one but you know, if I had to rate them) which was weird because this one was THE wedding, what the show has been building up to for 4 seasons and I just didn't feel it.

It was heavily focused on the spy stuff (I like the spy stuff but not the OTT stuff like the motorbike and the Russians parachuting in) and Decker - too sudden introduction, not enough funny Jeffster moments and not enough use of the minor characters: Buy More, Alex, CAT Squad. I am disappointed, not majorly so, but I do think that the episode where Chuck/Sarah get married shouldn't be the same episode where they spend time and energy setting up the "gamechanger" - not enough screen time to do either one justice.

Least favourite finale from this series
sarahm1721 June 2023
What I liked about this episode was Chuck, Morgan, Casey, Mary, (the cat squad) Carina and Zondra, and the Russian's coming in with parachutes was probably the most jaw dropping thing to happen in seasons. It's definitely the best thing about this episode. Casey's lines were funny. Him telling Chuck he was "the second best spy I've ever worked with". He has the best character development. After all this time he's actually beginning to be more open and emotional. Awesome has his moment. Which was great. Ellie wasn't in it so much but she has her moment as well. Shame the rest of the episode wasn't good. Although the wedding scenes were cute but I kinda thought it was Sarah dreaming at first. I would've liked Sarah to make a speech or see everyone at the wedding. It was kinda quick and too much like a dream. It was still cute though but just not enough.

Other issue I have with characters is Mary. Her being with Volkoff since she left her family then they instantly trust her even after she does things to them. Then she becomes a protagonist like her past never happened. There's no talks between her, Chuck and Ellie together. No actual heart to hearts or discussions about it. She was Volkoffs right hand man for decades and she only decided she can take him down now. I get that she left to keep them safe but it still doesn't make sense. All is forgiven straight away is so far fetched. There's no awkwardness. She comes into the house and helps with the baby too like straight away it's like she never left. First time she sees them again it was the same way. I know they weren't completely babies when she left but this women would be a stranger and in reality it would not be like she never left. And she almost got Sarah and Chuck killed. Despite helping them escape. She shot him in the chest which she says he was wearing a vest. Then she suppressed the intersect in him to stop him looking. Proves that she doesn't know a thing about him. It's just laughable that she's this great spy yet Sarah and Chuck did what she couldn't do in a month when she had 20 years. Not good writing. Too many plotholes and silly reasons / conclusions but I should've expected it because it's always been this way.

I wish they went with the original plan of 13 episodes for this season and cut out all the inbetween stuff and just focused on what it's actually about this season, Volkoffs, Mary etc. Not that it's my favourite storyline but I liked Hartley and the ending for him. The side stuff just brought nothing. I like how less silly it was this season but it's too long and felt dragged out. As for the ending as well, literally no one was convinced they would kill Sarah off. So there was zero suspense. In reality she would've been dead. Seemed like Chuck was gone for hours and hours. There's literally no way she'd still be alive. Even Vivian thought she'd be instantly dead. If anyone else took it that wasn't a main character they'd be dead. It just wasn't believable. And the Vivian Volkoff arc never really resonated with me and it's because that character didn't feel fully formed. We didn't see enough of her. I liked her but it didn't work and it's disappointing that we never even see her with her dad in the final scene.

For me this should've ended here and maybe one more episode since this one didn't do it for me to see how everyone's life is. It would've been a good ending. Chuck and Sarah got 877 million from Hartley and they bought the BuyMore. Morgan became the intersect and teamed up with Casey as freelance spies feels like a fun way to end the series. Having Morgan get the Intersect would've been fun and I can totally see Morgan and Casey having adventures. But obviously it doesn't work because we find out someone has been manipulating the team the entire time and Decker did say that the intersect in Chuck is just suppressed so that could come back as well. I just hope he's more honest with Ellie next season and doesn't hide anything from her again. It could have ended here though but I guess they aren't done yet. Thankfully it's only 13 episodes.

Meet the new boss...not the same as the old boss
skay_baltimore14 January 2021
OK. Not a great season finale, but not the worst either. Despite a lot of cheesy filler and impossible outcomes, it was a serviceable episode when all is said and done. There were some decent twists and it set the stage adequately for the final season.

Some of the resolutions/big reveals were heartwarming and some were a bit over the top. But in balance it was a better than average episode. For me the most moving segment occurred between Volkov and his daughter. And of course...what would a season finale be without an over the top "Chuck and Sarah" moment. (This episode had actually had 2.) So ring out Season 4 and bring on Season 5!!
