"THIS IS WHAT AWESOME LOOKS LIKE" (in short comedy form)

There sure is a lot packed into this 14-minute flick. You've got humor, suspense, babes, moustaches, colorful language and right in the middle of it all you've got Jack, the lovable loser who lives in his mom's basement.

Up-and-coming director Brendan Jones and his crew really hit one out of the park with this short. Everything has been dialed in just right. The camera work was full of creative angles, effects and a sweet slow-mo job at the end; the soundtrack was a mix of fun and dark, right when needed; the writing had me laughing out loud a few times and the casting was perfect.

Speaking of casting, Matt Vaessen nails the part of Jack. Jack teeters on the line of big-time creeper and hilarious in a way that you can't help but pull for him. I don't want to give anything away, but when he's sneaking around in the dark, I think I held my own breath for him so I wouldn't blow his cover.

All-in-all, excellent film. Definitely crushed any expectations I had for a film short on length, budget and "star power". Honestly, none of those things make a difference when you have a great story that's told in a great way. People watch movies to be entertained, and Jack Goes Down Hard does this in a big way.
