Dexter and Lumen are planning how to get Jordan Chase. While embracing Lumen, Dexter realizes there is a camera that is recording their movements. He has to get to the bottom of the problem in order to see who has been doing it. Earlier, while talking with Deb, she mentions she is no longer romantically involved with Quinn. The reason for the break, she tells him, is because she has found out Quinn was spying on Dexter.
Checking at the station, Dexter goes to the department where surveillance equipment is requested. Finding the station unattended, he is able to tap into the computer and see the order had come from Quinn. What he does not know is that Liddy is really the one that falsified the detective's signature to get the equipment he needed. Now Dexter thinks Quinn has been on his case, all along.
Deb is trying to concentrate on the case of the barrel murders by pointing out the disappearance of people that were suspects. She figures Boyd, Harmon, Tilden and the Mendell had one thing in common, they were close to Jordan Chase. Deb gets lucky when she goes to see Lauren Mendell while she is cleaning her husband's office. Mentioning the names of the three people that has evaporated by magic, she asks about the late dentist's connection to Jordan Chase. Lauren reveals that Chase's real name is Eugene Greer.
Dexter figures the surveillance on Lumen and him must be coming from one of the few vans parked outside his house. He thinks he knows which vehicle it is, but Stan Liddy is quick in overpowering him and getting him inside. On route to a desolate area, Liddy calls Quinn because he has figured Dexter's involvement all along and he wants his friend to come to arrest Dexter, the man he suspected all the time. In the van, Dexter's phone, now in Liddy's possession, rings. It is Lumen telling him about Emily's phone call. She wants to meet with both of them.
Deb is interested in talking to Jordan Chase. He is the link that connects him to the men that has been involved and subsequently have disappeared. She must act fast because she learned Chase is about to leave for appearances in Europe. She needs a court order to prevent his departure. When her request is denied, she gets a surprise: Maria LaGuerta was able to get the order from another judge.
Dexter inside the van is almost sure to be killed by Liddy. As the former detective comes to the rear of the vehicle, Dexter is able to overpower him. Dexter has no problem in killing the evil man. Lumen having gone to Emily's walked into a trap set by Jordan Chase. As Lumen struggles to get away, Jordan hits Emily. When Dexter arrives on the scene he sees a bloody Emily on the floor, but no Lumen. Meanwhile Deb and her team get to the private jet that is to take Jordan Chase abroad, but he is nowhere in sight.
John Dahl directed this episode that thrills the viewer because of the imminent revelation that will unmask Dexter. Karen Campbell, Scott Black and Tim Schlattman contributed to the story and screenplay. The action never stops in this installment. Excellent work by the guest star Jonny Lee Miller, perfect as the vicious Jordan Chase. Peter Weller is fine as Stan Liddy the dirty cop that got to know Dexter's true identity, but did not live to tell it. Julia Stiles, the series' guest star is good also. Fine work by the amazing Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, Lauren Velez, and David Zayas.
