One of the best docu-dramas around!

Saw the film at the World Film Festival in Montreal. It's about slavery in Canada but told through the story of Angelique. She was a slave who really didn't accept her condition. It's almost like she was born ahead of her time. The historians telling her story are very good. You can tell that they really know the subject. The mix of documentary and reenactments by top actors is difficult because you have to make sure that it doesn't feel contrived. The director did a wonderful job and the mix feels organic. The story of Angelique is really unbelievable and again, the style of the film is very interesting. It feels like you're watching a thriller. Two thumbs up!
