As this episode opens Myka and Pete are running down a thief who is using an artefact... he gets away but they do manage to retrieve the artefact. It is a griffon statuette whose eyes flash just before they bag it. While this is going on Claudia detects some unusual financial activity; an insurance firm has donated half of its profits to charity; as Pete and Myka are busy Artie and Claudia go to investigate. Once Myka and Pete have finished their case they go off to enjoy their weekends... Myka going to her school reunion and Pete having a passionate time with Kelly the vet. Suddenly their eyes flash and they find themselves in each other's bodies.
We now have two intertwined but unrelated stories. Pete and Myka get back together and try to figure out what caused them to switch bodies and then undo it. While Artie and Claudia link the senior members of the insurance to a woman they met at a bar; Artie takes precautions before confronting her but to no avail. This leaves him utterly bewitched by her.
This was an enjoyable, light-hearted episode. Having two separate stories worked well as neither was really strong enough to carry the whole episode. Both stories were fun; Pete and Myka's section was clearly inspired by 'Freaky Friday' and similar body-swap films. It was mostly played for laughs although there were more serious moments... Pete, a recovering alcoholic, finds himself in Myka's body after she downed several martinis. There is also the revelation of what will happen if they don't sort things quickly... something rather messy! Artie and Claudia's section was fun too, especially after Artie gets affected leaving Claudia to try to solve things. The cast were on good form; it was particularly fun seeing Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly playing each other's characters. Overall a fun episode with one rather gory scene.
