Its not a 10, but unfair reviews make me rate it this way..

Warning: Spoilers
Upon writing this review, 7 episodes of PLL Original Sin have been released. So far my experience watching the show has exceeded my own expectations since both Roberto and Marlene have worked on projects that aren't so black and white. That being said this review will conclude my thoughts so far from an unbiased lens, unlike so many of the other reviews I have seen on this website.

My main critic for this show is the pacing, having a lot of characters to focus on means many of the storylines feel rushed, albeit there are some storylines from some of the 5 liars that are strong; such as Farans'.

In this episode in particular, the aftermath of Faran's struggle when dealing with scoliosis is a unique storyline that encompasses a struggle many teenagers have (myself included), and both the interactions and dynamics between her and her Mother feel genuine. In addition, the interesting development of Mouse's storyline, which so far has been quite ominous - something which people have been reluctant to say is good because the writer's track record has been known to be outlandish. However, forced plot points such as Imogen and Chip's new found relationship in this episode seems questionable.

Despite this, many reviewers look past the show and conciously/unconciously knit pick the show due to its affiliation with Riverdale. Many content creators upload videos poking fun at its 'absurdity' but are clearly grasping at straws in order to repeat the once famous (Riverdale) hate-train trend that was very overly popularised. Notably, this show being a reboot also does not help, since spin-offs generally tend to gather a lot more criticism since comparisons of the original show are undoubtedly going to be there.

With that being said... is this show perfect? No, but is it as awful as people are painting it out to be? No but it has a solid foundation to propel itself to be a staple in the Teen Drama genre.

Like every show some character's storylines are weaker and more interesting than others, but generally I would say this show excels in breaking the mould most Teen Shows nowadays have. Whereas classic shows from this genre like the original PLL, Gossip Girl and TVD were not all that great with its representation and responsibility of mature topics, as well as, its pacing but this could be due to a network show having to fill in 22 episodes of story telling which means many plots were stretched thin.

All in all, I would recommend you go into this with an open mind since this is the first time in a long time I have seen a Teen TV show be reminiscent of the classics that once made this genre strong and not a joke to laugh at.

[6.3] Cell phones forbidden at carnivals and dinner tables

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 7: The acting is more good than average, the setting and atmosphere average to good with attention to details and good semi-flashbacks, most of the cast terrible with some bright spots though, that changes between characters in each episode, the vibe and flow fuzzy and the show as much PLL as a Datsun is to a Buick.

Could still progress and improve, but I doubt it and more importantly, is it a limited one-season pretending nonsense?

So far, the storyline plots advance at a turtle speed and 70% in, there's few enthralling things in sight. The writers already gave us a few things to dig into , but some good acting mixed with nice "motherly" flashbacks don't make up for the bad and lame screenplay damaging the good acting, setting and set-up.
