I hate seeing Morgana turn evil. She was one of my favorites. However, it must be to stay true to the Arthur/Merlin legend. It just makes me sad. It's also hard to see Anthony Stewart Head play such a cruel character as Uther. I'm so used to him as the hero Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At the same time, that is the true mark of a fine actor. He is portraying someone so unlike the role which he became famous for and doing a splendid job.

This episode was frustrating. After being gone a year, Morgana shows up miraculously and is welcomed back with open arms, no questions asked. Surely, Gaius or Merlin would have suspected something. But I didn't understand a few episodes ago why Merlin covered up Morgana's magic and her part in the deception of Uther.
But when Uther grows ill, wouldn't Gaius or Merlin think about Morgana. This just wasn't believable. I hate it when writers dumb down characters. Merlin is smarter than this, especially when Morgana is a complete opposite of what she was when she left.
This storytelling tactic always irritates me.
