Timeless Story with Poor Ending
boz-583017 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As one reviewer already commented, this story has been told before, but there was still something attractive about watching this one unfold. The main characters were generally well developed and the 3 or so main actors did a decent job. The cinematography is OK, though the special effects are minimal, as one would expect in a low budget film.

I kept watching to the very end, which happened rather abruptly. I'm always ready to accept an unhappy ending, but this one seemed to occur as a result of running out of film (or time, perhaps). It was unsatisfying and seemed out of sync with the development of the story line. I really wish they had an alternative ending, in which case I probably would have given the movie a 5 or 6. In short, a promising movie was spoiled by a poor ending.

Good idea, bad execution.

Really amateur looking all the way around, bad sets, bad acting, bad story, bad directing ...wish it had something I could point to as positive. Honestly, it looks like the really poor student movies I would watch twenty years ago.

Audio mix was bad
prizm45 March 2021
I don't mind giving very low budget indie movies a shot, we all gotta start somewhere.

However I tried to watch this on Amazon Prime and couldn't get through more than about 20 minutes. The reason was the audio mix, with the music constantly being louder than the dialogue. A couple parts of the dialogue were also a bit 'burnt', as though the audio had been amplified too high and it got distorted. Sorry, but the bad audio editing was a deal-breaker.

I Tried...I Really Tried
seriouscritic-4256913 May 2018
I understand the limitations of low budget filmmaking, and I search actively for those efforts that rise above their constrictions, so - though difficult - I tried to get past the flat digital photography (where half the time you can't tell if it's supposed to be day or night) and the poor sound, poor sound effects and even worse sound mixing; let alone an amateurish score that works way too hard - sometimes the cues are almost painful (did the composer think this was a parody?). But with the addition of one dimensional, villainous government agents who repeatedly espouse exposition among themselves while all but twirling their mustaches (as the music dramatically screams "BAD GUYS!"); the uninspired, mediocre acting and the clichéd, clunky or overtly obvious dialogue where things are said because they were written, not because a human would say them in that situation (case in point; after a breakthrough in the creation of time travel a character exclaims with little enthusiasm "that's amazing" and then they go about their business as if there are no real ramifications to creating time travel) but all these negatives made it impossible to continue subjecting myself to the film. I'm sure the filmmakers meant well but they started with a script that reeks of having been written based on a screenwriting course as opposed to an understanding of complex human beings in complex situations. Note: If you are depicting highly intelligent people you can't just have them spew random info copied from a textbook and then have them behave as if they have no idea of the import of their own actions or their situations. I tried, I really tried, but I expect at least believable characters behaving in a believable manner to compensate for the deficiencies in cinematography, sound, and the particularly horrid production design. Maybe there was a good plot waiting to eventually show up, but I honestly couldn't suffer through more than forty minutes, so I couldn't tell you. And I have no faith that, even if there was, these filmmakers could have depicted it in a fashion worth watching.

Tortuous to the very end
compugor17 June 2019
A surprise at the very end (after the credits) saves this bad film from a total pan. The absurd storyline is presented so poorly that you probably won't make it half way through, let alone til it runs out... recommend fast forward unless you have time to spare and you're impervious to frustration.

Same old, same old
Leofwine_draca29 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
FATE is another indie science fiction film, this time about a guy who invents a time machine and who then goes back in time in order to prevent his girlfriend being killed. It's a hackneyed, age-old storyline, dragged out again for the umpteenth time and on a budget that precludes the use of special effects of any significance. For an indie, it's well filmed and acted, at least to a degree, but the unfolding of the plot is very slow and you spend an age waiting for something exciting to happen when it never does.

Don't waste your time

This movie is dead almost as soon as it starts. Bad music, bad writing, bad editing, bad acting. Old late-night and drive-in "B" rated movies were good compared to this stinker.

Script is really bad
hallrar-4553627 October 2020
The story is full of cliches. The drama full of seen before scenes. No original thoughts. Its annoying to see such films being produced when there is so much talent out there.

Not bad, but not great
thebrucecarter17 June 2019
As others have said, it's been done before, but I thought it was better than some. Their physics went awry toward the end (he and his clothes disappear, but the notebook and disc stay? Why?) but otherwise it had some interesting points. An abrupt ending (there were trash cans all over, why not pitch one, but I suppose fate or time or whatever would have found a way around that too) and an inconclusive and potentially ineffective one.

I'm not sure they accounted for entropy everywhere either.

Still, I'm not unhappy that I watched it.

Not the best film but not the worst.
smeghead-051118 October 2020
Came across this and as time travel is my favourite genre thought I'd give it a go. This is not the best film I've ever seen but nor is it the worst. Kept me entertained but no great surprises. Worth watching till the very end of the credits for the only real twist in the plot. In summary Worth watching but don't expect too much.

All I wanted
ohexpress-888-47254021 October 2018
I know it's an indie time travel machine movie with low budget but is all I wanted in a low-budget time travel machine movie to get away for an hour and a half and enjoy myself and having a wonderful time just watching it and not having to think about everything else.

Time Travel how??
davepolain6421 August 2021
Low budget film making is a thing, and that's cool.

However, attempting time travel from an office with machines from the 50's ain't gonna cut it, and it didn't.

Then there's the music soundtrack/editing that just never stops. Has the music editor ever seen a film before, to know how film music actually works?

Interesting premise let down by the above mentions.

Everything is terrible
pussyhasfurballs24 September 2023
Terrible music, terrible acting, terrible script.

Everything felt amateurish and forced, especially the music. I ended up turning off after 30 minutes because I didn't have the patience for it anymore. It was too loud and interfered with the dialogue, and it was too obvious that they were trying to manipulate an emotional reaction - except their choice of music made it too forced and immature so it fell flat.

The script was poorly written and felt like something put together last minute for an assignment. The acting was stiff and unbelievable.

I hate not being able to finish a movie, but there was nothing there to make it worthwhile.
