Typical TK fashion
Calicodreamin14 December 2021
Wild stories galore in typical TK fashion in this mini series focusing on the "Doc". I was certainly riveted, not knowing what would come out of these peoples mouths next. But in retrospect, there was no point to this documentary, if half of its true then this guy should be in jail.

Enough of elevating these predatory men
aarpcats12 December 2021
In the 1980s, every single woman in the US knew a Doc Antle. He was the guy wearing an elaborate mystical stone necklace, a lion's mane of a mullet, and clothes inappropriate for any setting other than a Sedona vortex or a drum circle. He clearly didn't worry about employment, because Mommy and Daddy supplied him with extravagant living expenses, and the mullet supplied him with young women.

"Doc" Antle, like everyone involved in big cat rescue, has no qualifications for caring for the world's largest carnivores. He simply uses them the same way he uses young girls, and the only difference in him and a pimp is that a pimp protects his product. He just kills then when he is tired of them.

If the other spotlights in this series have made you say, "Gee, these people are crazy," Doc will make you say, "Gee, this guy is icky."

Enough, Netflix. Enough. Stop elevating these slimy people and giving them notoriety. Help the law go after them to protect the animals from these abusers. The novelty is gone, and now I am just sick to my stomach that they keep getting away with it.

Filler content, but not bad.
AlienRefugee13 December 2021
It's worth a watch if you're intrigued and want to know more on these big cat fanatics and some of their odd and dodgy antics, but it's really just a supplementary filler with a bit of overly dramatic suggestions that Doc Antle is also a murderer. All characters in the Tiger King debacle have power and control issues, and this is just another piece of the puzzle. It's nothing fantastic, but it'll quench your thirst if you were intrigued by the other Tiger King articles.

Warning: Spoilers
If the peacocking, overcompensating, POS personality of Antle wasn't fully established in the original run of TK, look no further. This short spinoff focuses solely on him and how much of a POS he truly is. Done in the same way as the TK series, good build up of the narrative, twists and turns, pseudo revenge, and some closure for those who fell victim to Antle.

The fact that he isn't in jail for sexual misconduct with minors amazes me. He is a brainwashing, grooming, sexual predator.

If you like Tiger King, go ahead

Warning: Spoilers
This isn't as good as the original Tiger King but it's interesting enough. People who live that big cat type community tend to act like cults. Not sure how Doc got away with having sex with so many underage girls but the other stuff they're trying to accuse him of such as animal cruelty and murder seem made up to add drama. Not one thing in the show indicated either. He got indicted on animal cruelty but all the stuff the other big cat people did, looks like animal cruelty. Everything this guy did never indicated that at all, he seemed like he actually really cares about the animals. As phony as he is, I do believe that aspect of his personality.

So Now We Know Why Doc Isn't In TIger King 2
TheFearmakers16 December 2021
Now it's all clear why Doc wasn't in Tiger King 2. They had a whole other franchise with Doc Antle, and I'm glad at least Netflix is showing Buddhists as being nutso since they've done so for Christians like all Hollywood... I here about how robotic Christians are but at least we don't follow a guy who resembles a weeble wobble...

As far as documentaries go, or in this case, a reality show, once you have to start doing cheesy reenactments, then, in this case, the tiger has jumped the shark... Reenactments are so lame... If I see too many of them in any kind of documentary I'll turn them off... The original Tiger King had none of them and relied on interviews and was entertaining but these reenactments are just plain lame...

Mostly here are former employee women saying that they were molested by Doc when they were teenagers, and so now Doc is being accused of having sex with minors... But before MeToo, Hollywood gave Roman Polanski an Oscar and signed a petition to make him a free man, so... that's where we're coming from here folks...

But 100 more women can claim Doc did these thing but, like Carol will NEVER GO TO JAIL for her husband's death, Doc won't be touched by ANY OF THIS because there is no actual proof, and sorry folks, but, in this life, powerful people get away with really bad things...

As for Doc, if he's a guru and he created a following and has women sleep with HIM and NO ONE ELSE, let's face it folks, every multi-millionaire actor and rock star does the SAME THING in their very own way.

Why wasn't this the first one?
mmjvkzyb14 December 2021
Tiger King was presented as a fun trashy mess with a whole cast of equally crazy characters.

Turns out, one of those characters abused, raped, groomed and pimped out teenage girls for literal decades.

Some of this footage was from the same interviews as the original series. There is no way the filmmakers were not aware of how dark and serious the situation here was. And they decided first to show us wacky Joe and his bizarre rivalry with a woman in Florida. I guess now that they needed a third series we can get around to exposing the actual crimes that took place?

Tiger King was supposed to be an exposure of a dirty industry, so it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that not only did they choose to ignore the blatant abuse in favor of a "better" story but also that now Netflix wants to milk all the money out of this franchise it's now a story worth telling.

Thoughts
staciarose2014 December 2021
I hate it. Knew this guy was a POS narcissist from the start. Child predator. Everyone featured on Tiger King is a terrible person, but there are a few that are the worst. Him being one of them. I don't care if it was the 70's and 80's. He still uses weak minded women who wanna be in a cult. Forcing them to be thin, while he's an old bloated man. Smh.

Well worth watching
mulesstuff12 December 2021
Don't think of Joe Exotic weird. Head In to it with a new story in mind. The story is captivating and the characters are interesting. But what makes this show is the editing and format. Wonderfully done.

Not very interesting
Soulman6115 December 2021
Compared to the original Tiger King, it has nothing in it, to hold my attention. Could hardly finish the first episode. I won't be watching any more. 5 stars is a generous rating..

Not as good as Tiger King
znwch11 December 2021
It blatantly tries to capitalize on the popularity of the original show but fails to replicate the recipe for its success. It is mostly interviews to people about stuff that happened between the 70s and 90s, it is not that interesting and it is bottom of the barrel journalism. We get it, most likely doc antle is a piece of crap for a plethora of reasons and he did many a-bad things but do we need to listen to him for 10 seconds and then have 20 minutes of emotional manipulation from witness that are talking for fame and a wad of bills? I dont think that is a great deal.

Important to mention the plot is not focused on the animals, it mostly focuses on doc antle's ex entourage, cults and sex.

Grasping for something that isn't there
joeandrews-4183815 December 2021
This show has absolutely no credibility and is a bunch of heresy quoted by misguided ex's. There is nothing interesting about this and once again the show is grasping for something to give to cancel culture. Not surprisingly, it fails to point out any thing other than jaded lovers grasping for a moment of spotlight.

Why can't these be in tiger King s2?
darshan-0718013 December 2021
Tiger king s2 was only 5 episodes, could've easily put these in there to lengthen it and make it a better season, why does this need to be a separate show?????

The Darkest Story Yet
ellelldee5 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Tiger King the way most of us did, as a guilty pleasure, an amusing look into a sleazy but fascinating world, full of slimy but entertaining characters, plus the beautiful animals. The humans are all either cons, sleazes, victims, or some combination. The Tiger King himself is a loudmouth ignoramus, a thief, and a sneak, but he has a certain flamboyant charm. Jeff Lowe has the most appropriate name ever. He makes you want to shower after his scenes, he's such a scuzzball. All the world's a strip club for Jeff and his doxies. Carol is an attention addict who may also be a murderer, altho there is room for a reasonable doubt there, and at least her animals appear to be cared for. The amount of vitriol she comes in for on social media to my mind has more to do with misogyny than degree of blame, but they're a dubious lot, no doubt about it.

Doc Antle appears at first to be just another lowlife egotist using the poor animals as status symbols and seduction tools with very little thought as to their well-being. But apparently the makers of the first round of shows saw something darker and more unsettling in him, and so he got a whole little series all to himself. It is my opinion that this one was not done for entertainment like the previous episodes, although it is entertaining in its way. This one wanted to expose Doc as a true criminal. Joe Exotic might deserve to be in jail, although it is not blindingly clear that he contracted someone to kill Carol, although his obsession with her was definitely used by Lowe to manipulate and cheat him, and he certainly made very public credible threats. In Doc's case, there is no doubt. He belongs in jail, period. They all abuse and use the animals for base purposes, but he's the one with a freezer full of dead tiger cubs.

They all lie about their past and qualifications, but he's the only one claiming to be both a doctor and a holy man, calling himself Bhagavan, a word used in Indian religions used to denote figures of religious worship. No evidence of any medical training exists, and his claims to holy man status have their roots in his membership in one of these cultoid 70s communes headed by self-styled maharishis preying on gullible westerners. Somehow these maharishis always seem to end up charged with some sort of financial and sexual misconduct. Which is all Doc appears to have learned from his "spiritual education." And he learned it well.

But the real core of his criminality is in his long history of recruiting, seducing, abusing, and virtually enslaving underage girls, in one case actually abducting one across the country. People toss around the terms groomer and pedophile a little too freely these days, but in this case, they both apply. It is amazing to me he is not facing any charges on this account, much less being in actual prison. It becomes clear that the real story here is not his financial skullduggery, animal abuse, exploitation of workers, and even a possible murder, although all these are very real, but his sexual abuse of a long string of underage girls. I believe that this is what the filmmakers wanted to expose.

But he has yet to face a single charge on this matter, as far as I can tell. He was arrested by the FBI for charges related to money laundering. He also faces charges relating to illegally trafficking animals. But nothing on what I consider to be his worst wrongdoings, the ongoing, habitual sexual abuse of minors. Not that the other charges are not real and criminal. But everyone seems more worried about the animals than the kids.

This spin off, as it were, of the Tiger King series is not intended, in my opinion, as entertainment, but as activism. It's darker and more sinister, as we watch him move from girl to girl to girl. He was in his thirties when the stories begin, and he has amassed a long trail of victims. It does not appear as if any of them will receive any justice, but the makers of this show have done their damndest to expose him for the slimy pedophile he is.

It's as well made as the original, with good footage, clear storylines, and all the technical skill, but I think it was made with slightly different intentions.

Another TK drama flirting with metoo an cancel culture.
kakisgr18 January 2022
A bunch of old ex's regreting their decisions of being with ths shady manipulative dude. And now that they are old and bitter they want to cancel him and have a moment in the spotlight. These women don't want to take responsibility for their decisions, always acting like victims. Cults don't make themselves they need weak people to be followers.

A spotlight on Disgruntled workers with zero intro - must be familiar w/original series
OneAnjel12 December 2021
Let me premise my review by saying I didn't watch Tiger King Murder, Mayhem & Madness (now simply titled Tiger King, which makes it uber confusing to try to look up with now a series, a film, and each episode coming up as a separate title on IamDB). I don't recommend watching The Doc Antle Story before the Murder, Mayhem film which, no doubt, intro's Joe Exotic and his cast of merry characters. I found Doc Antle Story to be beyond confusing since I thought Doc was the guy everyone was talking about re the big hoopla about "tiger king" and thought, "Ok, let's see what the hype is about." It had no introduction to the facts so you have to know what it's about before you can appreciate anything that is presented. It weaves around a bunch of people who sound like disgruntled employees whining about having to be back from lunch on time. And then it veers very oddly to intro a famous yogi from the 60s without the slightest prefacing. I mean, this film is all over the place and seems to think it's a series of cliffnotes. Maybe that's what it should be called: Murder, Mayhem, Madness, the Cliffnotes.

Doc may be a shady character but 30 min in, there is zero evidence and just a handful of people saying things like "he had a big ego" or "he loved the women" or "when I heard her story, I wanted to come forward." About not having enough breaks? I'm not sure. But I do know running an animal sanctuary is a 24/7 job that you either love or hate and all animal trainers are eccentric.

At this point -- having known a celebrity who was totally misunderstood and mistreated by the media, films, and books with zero evidence -- I feel like Doc is being bullied by people who should have simply left rather than harbor all this toxic sentiment for decades.

I will go watch the Murder, Mayhem series and see if afterward I decide to finish watching "the other guy's story".
