One of the best shows I have watched about missing children/people

You know what all the people who have this a 1 more then likely y'all had to be white and upset that now black & brown people are getting the attention they deserve. I hope They keep making this show sooo informative. I live in Baltimore,MD & let me tell you ... I know for a fact that everything they said about my city is true which is the worst part of it all... this makes me want to do way more for trying to find the people that do fo missing ... keep it up ladies 🌸

Excellently done

I have a feeling some reviewers are trying to sandbag this series out of deliberate bias, but please see that for the racist nonsense it is. Well documented, uplifting, heartbreaking, compelling, this series is an eye-opening look at how the system fails persons of color seeking answers for missing loved ones. No one should have to endure this suffering along. Let's hope this series shines a light on the resources needed to help these families find those who are lost and that these be treated fairly in being given the resources and attention they deserve.

Why All the 1 Star Ratings??
zbpmkrsc29 November 2021
Really thought provoking and challenging doc. I don't understand (or maybe I do) why there are so many 1 star ratings out there. I devour true crime docs and docs in general. This show is what I've been looking for. So strange that people bothered to give 1 star but didn't bother to write a review hmmm.

Extremely informative with the addiction of relevant anecdotes

I thoroughly enjoyed the series and the stories that were highlighted throughout the episodes. The series did a good job of balancing suspension and hope while covering both solved and unsolved disappearances. A definite must for people who enjoy crime series, documentaries and ethnographic programs. I do hope they release more episodes. It is sad to know some of the people covered in the series were never found.

What's with the hate?

I saw that over 40 "reviewers" rated this well-done and compelling documentary with one star. It's sad that people really can't handle the truth when it's displayed so heartbreakingly in front of them. Hard to defend a one star rating when you don't write a review to go with it. "Black and Missing" is a stellar documentary about two determined women who are filling a void that is too often forgotten.

Great, informative documentary!!!!

I don't understand why the low 1 star reviews, I'd it because it's about black people. This documentary was very good and informative!!!! Brought me to tears but I'm very proud of the 2 women who started the foundation. I'm glad they got a chance to bring a national spotlight to some victims and to the work they're doing.... GREAT DOCUMENTARY!!!

Thoughtful, informative
annb-426 November 2021
A thoughtful, informative docuseries exploring some cases of missing Black women, men, and children as well as an organization seeking to find the missing and to prevent others going missing.

At less than 60 votes, the series has a rating less than 4 - looking at the demographics, it's clear than there are a good number of men who downvoted it. Misogyny, IMDb, you really ought ought to address it.

This is a really good documentary and 1-star reviews are from ignorant and racist people
pimentel48226 December 2021
How can someone that is not ignorant and racist rate this documentary as 1 star?

People (racists) are complaining "oH wHy MaKe iT aBoUt RaCe?!", and that is so stupid. Facts, statistics and the documentary are telling us that black people missing are being overlooked by law enforcement and the media, and the point is to equalize things, not ask for benefits or to make institutions care less about white people.

People complaining are the same that wear T-shirt "aLL LiVe mAtTeRs" and claiming racism isn't structured into our societies.

It's really disheartening to see the ratings because this is a REALLY good documentary, they aren't preaching anything, there are a lot of interest information and stories and everything is really well tied together.

Congrats to HBO and to all these brave people fighting to get their loved ones back or to finally find some closure.

Informative & compelling

I thoroughly enjoyed this doc. Not enjoyed in terms of entertainment value, but rather subject matter and importance of the issues illustrated. It's a subject that has always made me angry because of the cruel in-your-face bigotry.

This past summer we saw the truth of the whole "missing white woman" syndrome. At the same time of the Gabby P. Situation there was a father of a missing young black man (Daniel R.) in Arizona that was desperately trying to get air time & the mother of another missing young black man (Jelani D.) in Illinois that was going through the same struggle. I make this point because this series illustrated that exact same point repeatedly just doing so using other older cases.

I'm thankful this doc was made because until folks admit there's a problem there's no way to come up with any positive, working solution.

Great True Crime Show
tjmanni19 July 2022
It's very frustrating seeing such a disproportionate number of 1-star ratings but nobody giving a review saying why. Ignore the 1-stars, it's just trolls trying to discourage and discredit Black media (yet again). Very informative and well-done documentary. If you're a fan of true crime, it's a good watch. Came here because of an episode of My Favorite Murder I listened to, and glad I've taken the time to watch the work this women are doing with their foundation.
