Beautiful show

Beautiful show and cast - had me in tears a few episodes.

The dogs are always thoughtfully chosen and well loved by the staff that work there and are shown on the show. Cant wait to see more episodes.

No understanding of dogs or new owners.

It's wonderful to see so many dogs finding their forever home. BUT why do they put the dog through the confusing routine of being thrust into an enclosed yard with strangers while their only familiar person goes away?

For a dog who has been abandoned, that is foolish and unfair. No wonder they usually don't instantly warm to the strangers at first. It's an exercise in humiliation for the new owners as they frolic around to attract the dog, who trots anxiously around ignoring them.

Meet the dog with the familiar person there. Then take them for a walk together and hand the leash over along the way. That's much kinder to both. I expected better animal behaviour skills from the staff. Not impressed.

Just curious

Are there any people at all, seeking a rescue dog, that are just normal? I understand the producers efforts to try and make the show more 'interesting', but the constant stream of people with various disabilities, recent bereavements, relationship nightmares, divorces, gender dysphoria etc. Etc. I sort of get it...a dog can help in difficult situations etc. But the odd happily married couple, a fit and healthy family or a single person seeking a canine running partner would be nice now and again.

It's the same in the UK version of the show (not sure which came first) and is now really rather tiresome.

We're so over the sob stories.
Anonymousimdbreviewer2 March 2023
I'm just going to break down the structure of this show, every single episode.

1. An unsuspecting person/s come on the show. One of three: a couple, a family with children or a person looking for a companion.

2. They reveal what they want in a dog 3. They reveal their pathetic little sob stories. No literally, every single person has a sob story. Not a single person who has entered this show has not had a sob story. It's actually pathetic. They'll be like "two years ago, I really started enjoying {insert hobby here} until I was {hit in a fatal accident, diagnosed with an illness, had a dog die, had my legs fall off, fracture my eyelashes etc. The list goes on). You won't find a single person on this show without a sob story.

4. The dogs are released and it's an instant connection 5. They elaborate on their sob story 6. A person from the cast comes out and it's a happy ending.

They also switch between like 6 different scenes so often so you can't stop watching. But just avoid this show. It's literally only designed to make you cry. So pathetic. I'm honestly so sick of it.

poor cousin to the UK version

Loved watching the UK version, unfortunately the (human) cast on this one just try too hard. The dogs are still beautiful, it would a far more enjoyable version if they just toned back on the human chatter, act more natural and let the dogs do their thing.
