The Lover (#6.7)

Warning: Spoilers
Pam finds out Michael is dating her mother.

This was wonderful! The reactions of Pam and Jim were hilarious. I also loved all the interactions between him and Pam. He even tried to act like he is Toby's friend.

In addition the story about wooden mallard is also high class Office humor.

Cracks me up. The reviewers

Warning: Spoilers
So your boss, who is an utter and complete selfish idiot, who rarely thinks of anyone but himself sleeps with Pam's mom on the wedding weekend. And yet, reviewers are blaming Pam's outburst. .. Not sure how that works, but that is Michael level logic right there. This show is funny despite Michael. Took me 3 seasons to really get into it because how much of a jerk he was. And a lot of cringy moments from him. From sexual harassment to complementing how hot an 8th grader looked. And these people are blaming Pam? Lol I wouldn't blame her if she ran him over in the parking lot. There are some things you don't do, and that is date people's parents that work for you. The episode was funny. But Pam had every right to be angry. She got tired of Michael being a selfish idiot.

Then in a later episode, tries to put the blame in Pam for wanting to break up with her mom. Michael is a pretty awful person. But I love the show because of everyone else :)

Honestly one of my favorite pisodes of the entire show
mediatromp-616862 May 2021
Of course it's not THE best, but the humor is on POINT. Everybody's acting is insanely good, Dwight seems like a genius after all, Jim's reactions are everything and angry Pam is something that i am glad to have witnessed. Michael and Toby had a nice moment, that was VERY unsettling, but i loved it and it paid off greatly. There's just so much to love about this episode..

Great episode

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode so much. It was an interesting turn of events and I think was executed perfectly.

Some people don't like Pam in this episode though, which I think is very unfair. In my opinion Pam's actions were justified. As at the beginning she is very suddenly going through the shock of learning that her mother is sleeping with her boss, and not just any boss, Michael Scott himself.

He also doesn't help his case as he begins to treat Pam as if she were his daughter. This is very disrespectful and obviously makes Pam aggravated.

So please stop bagging on Pam and this episode. Alright rant over. Sorry just had to be said.

Pam pam pam

To some extent I agree that this seems out of character with Pam. However it is always amazing to me to see how long a certain type of immaturity lasts in people: namely the inability to see ones parents as people and not just parents revolving around you. I mean Pam is 30. She is married and soon a parent. While she has some long standing insecurities, we don't really know much about her in terms of her with her parents. She does have a vain streak and I could see her being babied and spoiled. It explains why she waits so long in her life to break through and try something challenging for herself such as art school or being a sales person.

Pam's behavior was cringy...

Very dramatic response from Pam to the strange news. Pam's one of my favorite characters (especially leading up to this episode) but I don't know what they were thinking to have her throw temper tantrums like that. It was just childish and stupid.

Dwight was funny but I wish Jim would've taken more advantage of that great opportunity. I know he's manager now though.

Not accurate with Pam's character
michele_h201114 June 2021
While it makes sense she'd be really upset, this episode feels pretty out of character for how out of control she gets.

PAM IS SO ANNOYING

Jeeeeeez Pam really does make this episode hard to get through. Just a whiney cry baby, a terrible performance too by the actress, feels forced and very mediocre.

Writers' block

Oh boy! Didn't see that coming....Awful episode, thank God for Dwight saving the day. What I definetely didn't expect was the writers stealing the oh so old joke with the "other couple in holidays" from "Friends". Frank'n'Beans ?? Not funny!!

More of Jim and Pam
chipsik-1635729 July 2023
Jim and Pam are the worst characters in this series. Their hatred for other people, narcisissm and selfishness are simply replusive. This episode is just more of them, in fact this season has way to many of episodes deciated to this despicable couple. I wish Netflix had a feature where you can skip all scenes with a given character.

Every other character has it's own flaws, but they are mostly caricatures. Pam and Jim, on the other hand, are "normal", and this makes their character flaws offputting. Also, starting from season 1, the scenes with those two are in no way funny, they're just boring and sad to watch.
