Not enough MARTHA
redinnevada5 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was the worst! I have been thrilled with this series, the actors chosen, the presentation of the story, everything. But whoever chose to spend so much time on a delusional G Gordon Liddy in his fantasy nazi fueled Frau Teresa inspired spiral should be fired as a director. G Gordon Liddy was the least fascinating character in the REAL story of Watergate (as a cliched psycho play-acting an FBI patriot to justify his actions) and this in no way changed that. Not only was focusing on him a waste of time but it took AWAY from the one person we come to see every week...MARTHA! And by extension her traitor of a husband and his selfishness. Focus on HER in this telling and the story is riveting. Dean, Mitchell, McCord in smaller ways since they are the "usual suspects" in any political scandal (can literally swap them out in any scenario and they're identical). But keep it centered on the ONE PERSON who was NOT usual, Martha! She drove the whole drama. As it was in real life.

Pointless

I'm not sure why this episode exists.

There's about 15 minutes of worthy story & information which could've been added to the previous & next episode.

7 episode series was all it should've been.

Perfection

Wow! This show just gets better and better and this episode is by the best ever! The story line is amazing. Everyone's performance is Oscar worthy. I'm going to rewatch this. Too good for only one sitting.

I am loving every minute of this series. All the actors are above & beyond fabulous. Kudos to Shea Whigham for an incredible depiction of Gordon Liddy. I've seen him in a lot of things & he always gives a great performance. I think this was his best so far. Give that man an award!!

Nothing of value happens. To quote another reviewer - 'I want my hour back!'. I simply cant understand why they wanted to ruin such a good series.

Catastrophy.

I want that hour back.

One of the worst episodes of anything on tv. The insane concentration on Liddy dragged on and on and on and on. This was clearly the laziest script so far.

Who tuned into this series to deep dive into the twisted, psychotic, self-righteous bum, Gordon Liddy? Not me. Even without this episode, his airtime is far overdone.

Hopefully the finale can squeeze in a few minutes of dialogue for the non-Liddy actors with some reference to the Watergate scandal.

Rubbish, and boring rubbish at that

Who cares about the psychoses of Gordon Liddy? He's about the least interesting character in the entire Watergate saga.

It adds nothing to the overall arc of a series purportedly about how a President got taken down. It never did.

Unbelievably bad episode

Warning: Spoilers
I never write reviews, but couldn't let this disgrace of an episode slide.

This episode is so bad, I'm lowering my rating for entire series at least 2 points. The fascination on Liddy in the entire series is bizarre, but to give an entire episode to the ramblings of a racist madman is incomprehensible. You could remove this episode and the series would be better, plus viewers wouldn't have to sit this disturbing episode that clearly wanted to add gratuitous violence and groteque images.

Sadly, an interesting series on Watergate from different perspective is now ruined. I can't in good conscience recommend this series to anyone when it has an episode this disturbing.

Seriously don't understand how anyone thought this was interesting content, or added value to the story in any form.

Weak episode

Warning: Spoilers
Through Six Episodes Gaslit was entertaining, even if a little over the top. Episode Seven left entertainment behind while someone decided to go completely unhinged with the storyline of Gordon Liddy in prison. It was absurd and basically boring. I wanted more of the dysfunctional relationship of John and Martha Mitchell. Martha was painted as the victim while John was shown as abusive and devoted to a criminal, Richard Nixon. It turns out that Martha, with her outspoken personality, was actually very insecure, ultimately accepting his abuse leading her to alcoholism.
