I feel everyone has missed the point
Adam-Houghton8523 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing the reviews of this movie I was reluctant but still felt this deserved a go and I am adamant most of everyone missed the point of the movie. This is not about "time travel" it is about a person in a deep dark depression and finds a glimmer of happiness and would rather live forever in that moment than try to live their life. It's about depression, it's about dealing with an unknown future, it's about trying to hold onto a moment of hope and how can you movies forward.

It is not a high budget extravaganza or anything that is going to winner an Oscar but it is a good watch worthy of people's 90 minutes.

Not what's advertised (In a good way)
grahamvandyke25 September 2022
This movie comes off as something the studio had in mind to package and sell as a romantic comedy, when in actuality it tackles much deeper issues and themes. By the end of the viewing what I had expected to be an affair full of predictable ups and downs with the familiar "Will they, won't they?" tropes turned out to be a journey of nihilistic existentialism that bordered on becoming a really good philosophical film. Had the filmmakers and studios decided to lean more heavily into the artistic side of this movie it could have very well been another Mr. Nobody, which similarly explored deep philosophical questions while bringing us on a journey of two star crossed lovers who were destined to be together, but had to go through hell and back to get there.

A surprising turn of events that turned something that promised a generic experience into something with substance!

Not a rom-com. Not a comedy. Surprisingly good drama.
IvnSoft24 September 2022
I have to agree with other reviewers.. This is not a rom-com. Could be a dark comedy... But it is a (romatic?) drama. And it delivers.

I can see the hate on most of the low rated reviews, not sure if towards Pete or Kaley. Looks like those viewers are expecting to chuckle with anything with Pete on it. (or Kaley for that matter).

Some clearly dont event understand depression.

Yes, there is a time loop here (not a spoiler), but thats not even the point of the movie. If you are trying to make sense of that, you are watching the wrong kind of movie.

Most of us have suffered heartache from broken relationships. Some of us, Feeling alone. And some desperation to fit in a world that doesnt understand us.

You should watch this movie knowing it is an exploration of dark emotions. It might trigger you on some topics, but im almost positive you will end with an uplifting sensation.

And for those complaining of making sense... Time travel never makes sense. Thats a fact.

Dark Rom Com
beechenp22 September 2022
Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson star in this dark rom com about a girl that meets a guy at a bar but she doesn't exactly tell him everything at the jump of their "Meet Cute" encounter. The movie makes a big left turn at about the 20 minute mark and then keeps you guessing about what is going on for the majority of the movie.

Pete and Kaley have pretty compelling chemistry between the two of them and their comedic timing plays off well of each other. There are some instances where it is a little confusing following "the rules" of what is going on that need a little more fleshed out writing to fully grasp. The movie also deals with certain aspects of depression that can be triggering for some people, but overall the movie has a lot of heart. If you're a fan of these two actors and dark rom coms then you will appreciate this movie and over look the confusing bits. I found it to be entertaining and thoughtful.

"Stay for one more day" feeling
marumatima28 October 2023
When that one really good dream I had in my life is made as a movie. Special and unique version of the conversation made by two really good actors in leading roles. My appreciation goes to all cast and production as well. Nothing was mediocre or banal to me about this loving chance of someone to keep the other person happy close to own life. Just one day as all other days in everybody's hard as hell life to be worth of trying when you know who is your reason to stay. The real connection we have is always someone else, the other human being and nothing else ever. Why is this so hard to believe?

give it a chance
sfyaltsha29 October 2022
I don't quite get all of these negative reviews so im leaving this one here in hopes of giving this movie some boost which it surely deserves in my opinion.

Please don't judge it by the trailer, it doesn't give off the vibe of the movie and i think that it's a pity because people might not give it a chance based off of that two minutes, when in fact it does deserve more views from those individuals who enjoy a more of a slow burn romcom kinda story that is heartwarming, funny and definitely is not a meaningless watch.

( And i say this as someone who isn't even that much of a pete davidson fan.)

So many things terrible about this movie
kastanley-1049623 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited to watch this based off the cast and description. I think the acting fell flat, Pete Davidson slurred his words half the time. The fact that they end up together sends terrible messages to the audience. 1) that a relationship is a reason to not kill yourself and 2) by basically kidnapping someone and forcing them to love you, it will work out. The way she threw around suicide is toxic as hell. I never felt a connection between them in the first place, it felt forced. Why wouldn't she go on dates to new places??? They play it off that she wants it to be perfect but she still screws it up with the same creepy storyline every time. I just thought this would be way more interesting but was painful to get through.

Excellent rom-com
UniqueParticle30 December 2023
I love Pete Davidson I'd totally hangout with him and Kaley Coco is great! Kinda clever how it's about a tanning bed that time travels and charming romance throughout a fair amount of mental illness mashed in well. I'd love to experience the charm the 2 leads seem to go it's fascinating even it's slightly dark all the cute bonding is a genius flow of events. Not much comedy only a couple silly bits, sweet, great stories, and wow this isn't what I expected it stays interesting regardless of what others said I don't think it's slow, it's brilliant fun! The poop out the end of a rainbow reference is a awesome line, I'm glad I put this on.

A Melancholy Meeting That's Not So Cute
nayz-98-41892421 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Trigger warning , This movie is about suicide and pretty much nothing else. Sheila is mentally ill and obsessed with Gary whom she just met. She kills repeatedly to keep the relationship going. This is not a fun or uplifting movie. It is super unsettling and depressing. On the plus side Both lead actors do a fair job and are highly watchable although i can't imagine why either agreed to be in such an unappealing downer of a film with the Basic plot being a very stale rip off of Groundhog Day. Also the director chose to make this all feel very claustrophobic. The worst part is the script which makes no logical sense and is a complete Dead End.

Meet Over and Over and Over Not too Cute
6EQUJ521 September 2022
This is advertised as a rom-com. It is not funny and is just barely romantic. It is desperate and sad. Sheila, the romantic lead character, is not having the best day of her life as she claims when she first steps into the nail salon. Kaley Cuoco is a talented and engaging performer who does add dimension to her character but even she can not save this film. The only revelation is Pete Davidson. The man can act and act quite well, and he proves it in this should-have-been-better movie. I want to see him in every project he does in the future. Upside is, Kaley looks good in orange and white gingham, but not so much in a mustache. Watch it for those two. They did their best.

Romcoms only work when the couple is appealing in some way
geoffreyspears22 September 2022
I'd pay to see this couple not get together. When you start a romcom with such a terribly mismatched and poorly cast couple, there's really nowhere to go but down - as evidenced by this film. I suppose the time travel premise was necessary to entice anyone to even give this movie a try, but when the characters are so unappealing and off-putting, no amount of sci-fi gimmickry would have saved it. I couldn't tell you how it ended, since it was a tossup as to which was the more annoying character and ultimately I concluded it didn't matter enough to figure it out or finish the film. Just another example of streaming services having too much capital to throw around at scripts that never would have been greenlit in a tighter capital market where market forces and competition would have led to a far better movie being made.

Someone at Amazon needs firing
matt_sole-372-20820314 March 2023
This is a really good film.

But whoever was in charge for marketing this film needs to lose their job. It is sold in every way as a RomCom. The name of the film, the images just in publicity, even the synopsis reads as a RomCom.

What this movie really is is a deep look at mental health. About struggles we may have in life and the things we think we need to make our problems go away. It's a really challenging piece about society and the world we live in. It's many things. But it is not a Romantic Comedy.

There are outstanding performances from the two leads (who carry about 95% of the whole film).

It really jumps around, there are lots of changes of direction, just when you think you know where it's going, a new layer is revealed.

But because of the awful job done by the marketing team, the audience that will truly appreciate the film will probably pass it by.

People expecting a RomCom will be frustrated, turn off after 15 minutes and leave a bad rating and review.

Too long- This should have been 40 minutes, or replace stagnant parts with interesting ones
mordaviram25 September 2022
The problem with this movie is that it has a beginning and an end, but the middle is very repetitive. Holding major twists and pull them off after stagnant 10 minutes doesn't make the stagnant time better, it makes me think "couldn't they just cut all of the scenes out there and get to the case?".

They should have made it a short 50 minutes TV movie or add a writer and add more content to fill the original length (85minutes). Here is a proof: watch the movie from minute 60 until the end, and u will see that you haven't missed anything from the first 60 minutes. Squeeze the first 60 minutes to10 minutes and you get a 35minutes video.

This movie isn't bad, I actually liked it, but it is like watching a reality TV show and watch endless annoying commercials just for few payoffs along the show.

Don't waste your time
venmary26 September 2022
Pete Davidson is simply unwatchable. I don't understand how he keeps getting cast for movies. He is a terrible actor who cannot pull off this role and didn't make for a believable love interest in the movie.

The plot itself is boring and has been done so many times before. The characters were not likeable or interesting enough to hold my attention to the end. I couldn't watch past the first half of the movie.

I guess the 3 stars are for Kaley Cuoco, although you can easily exchange this character for the one she played in Flight Attendant. Not a very original performance, but she is a great actor.

A Fresh Take On Time Traveling Theme
cahidi2 October 2022
This is the darkest version of time traveling rom-com I have ever watched. And I've watched quite a number on time traveling movies, especially rom-coms. This is the first one I've ever get a portion of suicide and depression in it. And weirdly, it's not dampening the romance part. And for that, this movie deserves an extra star. Also casting Kaley Cuoco in it was a really good decision. She is a force of nature in comedy genre. Pete Davidson was also a great match for her, they had a great chemistry. It made the movie felt even better. I have watched quite a few bad time traveling movies, this one doesn't fall in the same category. Watch it, you won't regret it.

Unexpectedly good
ldenisey1 June 2023
I was sceptical about the pitch. I was expecting a cheap sci-fi time loop story with a female main character to add some kind of easy romantic lines, just goodish enough to have something playing on while doing something else but in fact no, it was quite interesting and I enjoyed it entirely.

The trailer is actually very deceiving because :
  • If you want sci fi, you will be disappointed
  • If you want a comedy, you won't laugh a lot
  • If you want romance, well it is served with a sadness topping

Instead you will get a quite clever psychological story about a girl trying to run from her life through her obsession about a man. It is moving, and generic enough for most of us to identify to. The genre mixing is clever, the sci fy bit is a nice allegory, the comedy side gives some rythme and the drama brings some depth. Congratulations to Noga Pnueli for the story and to Kaley Cuoco, her part is basically the whole movie and she did it well.

My disappointment comes from the feeling of tight schedules and fast editing. There are some very good ideas and a good bas for more twists. A bit more time, work and probably money could have made this movie amazing. Anyway, it was a great surprise and that is rare enough to be saluted.

What could have been a unique take on the time travel romcom
jdarragh711 December 2022
This could have been highly entertaining but was so flat from start to finish with a monotone performance from the two leads. At the time this movie should pick up and begin to explain what's been going on it just doubles down on the same thing over and over and over until you want to turn it off. Hanging in until the end for the sake of knowing how it ends is not worth it as it does not explain it. It is depressing and boring from start to finish.

The most uplifting scenes come as outtakes throughout the credits. Don't watch it, just avoid it because unlike this movie we can't get the time back that we wasted watching this movie.

Worth a watch. 🖤
cvolkamer26 December 2023
Please ignore the bad ratings. This movie is falsly advertised and promoted as a romcom. But in fact it's a heartfelt dramedy about struggling with love because of emotional trauma. And How to Deal with it. So it's not what you would expect regarding the trailer.

Liked the overall atmosphere and cinematography.

It shines with bittersweetness, small moments and touching philosophical aspects. Story and characters are relatable for those, who suffered the same in their lives. It may not be as enjoyable if you are not aware of what the characters are going through. However, it's told in a sweet way. Depends on you.

Worth a watch. 🖤

Not a Comedy
gbyzp8 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is promoted as a comedy.

It isn't.

I agree with some of the other reviewers that it is likely that many viewers missed the point. Perhaps had the movie been presented as a drama it might not have been such a let down to so many.

You have comedic powerhouses Pete Davidson (SNL) and Kaley Cuoco (BIG BANG THEORY) paired up on a movie presented as a ROM COM that fails to deliver anything comedic.

The movie does touch on poignant and serious subject matter. Suicide, depression, obsession, and the reality that we should live in and enjoy each moment rather than dwelling on the past. In fact it goes further by showing that in dwelling on something GOOD - it can become toxic.

The movie also toys with fate - the inevitability that all things happen for a reason - leading us to where we ultimately need to be - no matter how hard we try to change things.

In some ways - these points are well made and well delivered, yet it is hard not to feel like this was a BAIT AND SWITCH.

This is why I gave it 5 stars.

Cute concept, some interesting scenes, but overall not a very good movie.
TxMike24 September 2022
We like Kaley Cuoco from her role on the long-running "Big Bang Theory" and that is the main reason we chose to watch this movie that runs just about 80 minutes. (Plus some out-takes at the end.) As we see from the end credits she and co-star Pete Davidson are Producers and that makes sense. Apparently they made the movie to sell to a streaming service and now it is a Peacock streaming movie.

The concept is interesting but has been done a number of times in different ways. If you could time-travel should you do so and change things to try to make the future better? She stumbles upon a time machine that looks a lot like a tanning bed in the back room of the nail salon she visits.

I think the script is just too mediocre, plus Cuoco's character tries too hard to be "edgy" and uses a lot of F-word language just because she can. Whether it was the script, or Cuoco's choice, it just doesn't ring true within the movie. It definitely takes away from the likability of her character.

So it has some interesting scenes but overall is very uneven and when it ends we were not quite sure what to make of it.

A real surprise!
ethanbresnett4 January 2023
This film definitely has its flaws, but for the most part I found myself really enjoying it. I expected the sweet and playful side but wasn't expecting the deep moments which was what kept me hooked.

It benefits from two solid lead performances from Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson, who each have a great individual energy that multiplies when paired together. Kaley in particular is terrific and I'd really like to see her getting more and more film roles to show off her talent.

The story is pretty well thought out and has some interesting ideas and angles to it. It makes for a fun film with plenty of layers to think through.

I do think it could have pushed a bit further in parts. The emotional moments could have been sadder, the comedy could have been funnier, the romantic moments could have been cuter. It was all good but if pushed a little more it could have been great.

Overall though a really neat romcom with an interesting take.

Just OK
Huck_Haines3 October 2022
If you like Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco, you may enjoy this movie. I felt like it was rather slow and dragged in a lot of places.

The concept was decent, but it could have been much more interesting and funnier. You could argue that it was a drama and wasn't intended to be funny, but it sure felt like it was supposed to be a romantic comedy. In that respect, it missed the mark in my opinion.

At only 90 minutes, it wasn't a total waste of time. If you like the actors, and you are looking for something to watch, you could do worse than spending an evening watching this. Just don't get your hopes up too high.

Trust me, the low score is skewed by inappropriate expectations (read below)
kieranljones7 December 2022
Firstly, if you haven't realised by now that going into a movie with very specific expectations based on a synopsis or trailer is a bad idea, I just don't know what to tell you. Reviews are hardly any more reliable but I'm going to try anyway....

Now we have that out of the way -

As others have mentioned, this isn't a rom com. It isn't really a comedy in general; there are genuinely humorous moments (think wry grin as opposed to outright laughter) but the film is not trying hard to be funny as its main objective. It's also not a sci-fi. The time machine essentially serves as a McGuffin, it facilitates the telling of the story but is not central to the actual message of the story. Pulp fiction was not about what is inside the briefcase, and this is not a movie about time travel. It's about emotional baggage, mental health, love and the futility of trying to force someone else to change.

This is one of the better movies I've seen in quite a while. The acting, dialogue and cinematography are great. The plot is smart without trying too hard (Christopher Nolan, I'm looking at you) and deftly tackles some moderately dark subject matter in a tasteful and realistic way.

I hope I've convinced you to give it a try. If not, I'll come back tomorrow and perhaps then it'll work...

Better than current IMDb rating suggests.
GalAlba24 September 2022
Groundhog Day on a budget? Maybe? Definitely has the feel of a play. It's worth watching.

There are some poignant moments and some good comedy ones too.

Kaley Cuoco puts me in mind of a modern-day Goldie Hawn. She's delightful.

Pete Davidson (has terrible taste in women) puts in a solid performance. His acting ability is definitely gaining maturity.

It's a bit too arthouse cutesy. Nevertheless not sickeningly so. There are no roll your eyes moments.

There is no doubt the script could have been better, sharper, more grabbing. However! It's fine as is.

A good time to watch this film would be a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I've given it a 7 but it's probably a 6.

NOT a Rom-Com
starwisher30 October 2022
As other reviews mentioned, this is not a Rom-Com, it's a drama. I feel if it was marketed correctly, it would be better received. When choosing a movie, my mood definitely plays a part in it. If I choose to watch a Rom-Com/Comedy, I'm expecting to laugh, enjoy the show in an upbeat way. Lift my mood. This movie did not have any comedic moments and was not the right fit for the mood I was in. Overall, I think it told the story very well and I probably would have enjoyed it more if I knew more of the plot line/that it was a drama. Being in the right headspace to watch it definitely would have helped.
