I enjoyed it.

Madea....she's one crazy lady, my first ever time seeing the character, after watching this, I can't wait to see the other films.

I do know Mrs Brown however, and the combination was somewhat surreal. What was going on with that makeup, those cheeks were well rouged up.

It's almost a pity that there's so much bad language through it, as this could be enjoyed by kids, if I were twelve I'd have watched this over and over.

It is absurd, it's insanely absurd, but it's well meaning and well intentioned, with all that's happening in the world right now, sometimes it's just nice to escape into a world of silliness, and forget some of the world's horrors.

Tyler Perry is wonderful, and I really did buy into the humour.

I've chosen not to read other reviews, and I can only just imagine some of that comments, but take it for what it is, light hearted fun, 7/10.

Can't people appreciate silliness anymore?!
MyMovieTVRomance3 March 2022
I see a lot of strong opinions against this film here, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I liked it. I love the way Madea is always calling everyone baby, and I love her and Mrs. Brown's accents- the old-time southern US accent, and the Irish accent- they were a joy to the ears!

This movie is silly, but it's meant to be. So for what it is, I say well done! I hope Mrs. Brown and Madea come together for even more fun in the future too!

Not the best movie ever made, some stale moments, but more good than bad. Tyler Perry is hilarious, some great jokes that hit really well. The big twist?! Yes I was shook.

Arguably Perry's wittiest work so far.

"Don't get your knickers in a twist." Aunt Agnes (Brendan O'Carroll)

Tyler Perry owns one of the great impersonations in cinema history. His Mabel "Medea" Simmons is a gigantic grandma to a bunch of wild-ass relatives who mostly, like her, say what they think regardless the cost. Her malapropisms are as out there as her character (even repeating her mistaking Ireland for Iran is funny each time, so invested in the authenticity of Madea as Perry is). When White Agnes's "knickers" (above) is heard as "niggers," chaos and mirth ensue.

Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming is a raucous comedy inducing laughter at each culturally-incendiary thought so well expressed by an almost totally Black cast who must have had a blast making this movie. Of course, director Perry has cast actors who know how to give a line that tips near the politically incorrect without crossing it but producing even laughs from this jaded critic.

I am struck at the ingenuity of a piece where a female cop wears her uniform to the graduation party of Madea's grandson. Madea is beside herself at how much her neighborhood will react at seeing the police car that comes with that officer's presence. Defunding police to beefing up police are simultaneously hidden under the surface of the witty lines as Madea tries to get her to move the car. How timely and considerate Perry is of issues that challenge both Blacks and Whites in these parlous times.

There are multiple cases of Perry's offering divisive societal challenges including someone coming out of the closet in front of a conservative family, which turns out to be enjoyably accepting. Everyone wins in Perry's picture, even the surly and antisocial, for Perry's mantra is the need for love and acceptance in all lives.

Rarely does a motion picture make me laugh and think at the same time. Once again Netflix does it with its commitment to a Black filmmaker with wit and intelligence-and that's just his writing because his playing the lead character is remarkable acting job for our remarkable times.

She's outrageous!
GiraffeDoor15 March 2022
This is my first dose of Madea after only knowing her from The Boondocks. However I am pretty familiar with Agnes Brown. Not a fan but I can take her fine.

It's a fun cross-over concept though Madea never lets her steal the show. I feel very outside looking in at this constellation of stereotypes that feels at times like it was written to appeal to Klan members with its charicatures of the Urban black population. I admire the cynicism against the family member who is now a cop but I do wonder exactly whose side Mr. Perry meant me to be on. The ebonic rantings can be quite overwhelming and I feel almost guilty watching it the same way I feel guilty enjoying those penny dolls from that Raggedy Ann movie or Song of the South.

There is a jarring juxtaposition of tone as we go from broad sitcom comedy to some kind of Lifetime Drama. It's not even a parody kind of sentimental like Family Guy but deadly serious. They do these crazy collage style scene transitions. Words don't do them justice, I don't know what they thought they were doing.

Madea is a lot like Mrs. Brown, not just in being a parody of an ethnic Matriarch played by a man but in that while she is very goofy and shameless she also dispenses some good wisdom.

I don't want to hate this but it must be said that Robot Chicken got it nail on the head when they said it feels like a 16 year olds idea of what a problem-picture should sound like. There isn't really an issue to talk about here, it's just character comedy and soapy drama but you can feel it.

Kind of a fascinating experience, at one point they have a black and white flashback to Rosa Parks with anachronisms but I am reluctant to consider this much more than a bit of racially insensitive prolefeed.

WHAT HAPPENED TO TYLER.
penofinspiratin27 February 2022
Seems the richer he gets, the more talent he loses. When it comes to his production, I swear I wish every script was given to the,[hungry, ambitious Tyler]

This new Tyler is talentless, What kind of a man catches fire for a more than 2mins and gets to sit and sip coffee with same clothes that look whiter than Jesus when he came outta the tomb.

You need a certain kind of bored to sit through this version of j*nk.

Warning: Spoilers
A Madea Homecoming(Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming) is a 2022 comedy starring Tyler Perry. Madea(Perry) is looking forward to her nephew's graduation. To her surprise she gets a surprise from a visitor Mrs Brown(yeah our very own Brendan O Carroll makes a surprise appearance in this)along with his real life wife Jennifer Gibney who plays his daughter Cathy). Apparently Mrs Brown is the grandaunt of Madea's nephew and she flew over for a surprise visit. The main reason I watched this was because I am a fan of Mrs Brown's Boys and it was cool seeing Brendan O Carroll and Tyler Perry collabing together for the first time.

Overall I enjoyed it. Sure its silly and it can be offensive to the African American people but still I let it over my head. Stay around to the ending credits as Madea pays homage to BEYONCÉ Knowles Homecoming tour.

What happened to TP?
kaydrelia27 February 2022
I loved Madea when Tyler Perry first started with his plays, then the movies were good. The more famous he's gotten, the worse his material has gotten. Corny writing, bad acting, too much "woke" (seriously, enough already), and I heard more cussing and F bombs in this one movie than all other Madea movies combined. Didn't even finish it. I'll stick to the old Madea material like the plays before Perry got too big, too woke, and too vulgar to be enjoyed. Hollywood's a mess.

Some laugh out loud moments.
tikitim-7652027 February 2022
I always get a kick out of Madea movies. Of course it's silly and over the top but it is entertaining and makes me laugh. For that I give it an 8. I'm glad Tyler Perry decided to bring her back. Right now the world needs a little bit of mindless entertainment and laughter.

This was funny better than most
jpnavin-127 February 2022
This was funnier than other Madea movies plus they brought Agnes Brown / Brendan Carroll and Jennifer Gibney / Cathy Brown from Mrs. Brown's boys, (BBC Studios) (Prime Video Brit box) which I am still trying to figure out how these two comedy teams came together.

I enjoyed the movie it was entertaining.

He lied
reebeeka-7948227 February 2022
Ive been watching Mr. Perry since his plays. When he got traction he said he didnt accept Hollywood's offer of making his movies BECAUSE they wanted to change him and he wasnt going to take God away from the movies .... Yeah, he sold himself. This movie is far from the previous movies and slowly with each movie you can see that he's strayed far from God. I was SHOCKED watching this movie. It sucks that its come to this, that he, at end of everything, contradicted himself and ended up selling out for the money..

So funny and smart
angyphillips26 February 2022
This is my favorite Madea movie! I found it's pacing to be seamless whereas I've found the previous ones to have story pacing which was disconnected from one act to the next. Some titles came close to seamless but didn't quite manage it. "Homecoming" nails it the whole way through. This one flows without effort and that includes the surprises as well.

I read a recent article where Mr. Perry indicated he had previously retired from doing Madea but brought this together from a need of laughter and positivity. I hope he reconsiders and does more Madea movies in the future. Since he made the GENIUS decision to include the actor and character of a similar role in the UK, my guess is that he and the Madea crew will find a lot more requests going forward. Maybe Madea can introduce us to a friend or relative from her past that is similar to herself, who could then carry the torch so Madea can enjoy retirement. One can hope.

Silly as ever
imvaughn5 March 2022
People take these movies too seriously. Will definitely not win any awards. But if you're looking for a silly movie that also gives some good messages on current events (defund the police, homosexuality, loving after hurt, and etc)

But if you're uptight and want a serious movie you'll hate this. Madea is a weed smoking, gun toting, loud mouth, gangsta lol.

Not as good as former Madea movies. It just wasn't as fun and a too preachy. The worst thing was that several of the performers seemed to have missed too many acting classes.

Tyler Perry's Madea movies used to be good. They had meaning and comedy and class. And now they're just the same foul-mouthed junk you can find anywhere.

It was alright
twlinney-0143625 February 2022
Just like most writers do eventually. Tyler tried to accomplish and tackle to much. This movie needs to be rated R because it's nothing like the pass movies of Madea. I didn't feel comfortable watching it at all with my kids.

Disappointing
mark-7653626 February 2022
We were excited to see that Tyler Perry had brought the Madea character back. However, we were soon disappointed as in between some brilliant humor, were episodes of Wokeness. Not what we were expecting and much less than I expected from Tyler Perry.

I don't usually watch these movies
SelfDestructACowPatT27 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm into horror and thriller or anything zombie related but watched this cos I thought oh might be like big mommas house, which I watched years ago. Glad I did watch this, was actually really funny, I've never heard of Tyler Perry or his work, but if I see anymore of his stuff on Netflix I will watch it. I particularly liked the jokes between races, was lighthearted and funny on both sides. It's nice to see people having a joke for once. It's not a movie I'd watch again but that goes for many movies what I've watched but glad I did! Great stuff.

Madea's Family Reunion - meets Dirty Laundry
Popcorn-And-Twizzlers6 March 2022
Overall #AMadeaHomecoming gives Madea's Family Reunion - meets Dirty Laundry.

It's still a feel good film, but Madea's Homecoming seems to miss something of its predecessors. Maybe it's the pre-famous creativity by Perry that made the earlier Madea films feel different and more cohesive while also being funny? I'm not sure, but I wasn't as drawn to Madea or the characters like I've been in the past...except for the flashback with "Rose" scene, and end credits scenes-those were funny and creative, and I wouldn't mind the franchise moving more in that direction-a Madea Parody direction.

HIGHLIGHT: The most genuinely entertaining parts of the film for me were the end credit scenes as well as the "Rose" flashback scene. Additionally, the eye candy with Davi, Tim, and Richard... mm mm mm Just some straight up cuties!

COULD'VE BEEN BETTER: I really wanted more with the character development, from a story standpoint, vs the focus being so much on the comedy and antics of Madea (which at times were more "loud" than effective). I could've looked over everything else if the character development was at least an A.

It's seriously time to stop!
mgitts197726 February 2022
These movies have gotten so much worse over the years, and it's really time to retire Madea and this type of comedy. Horrible script, dialogue so unoriginal it's painful to listen to, and not funny at all!

Please do not waste the hour and 47 mins of your life watching this tripe!

Wonderful team up!
genevaems27 February 2022
I have always loved Madea and Mrs. Brown. Within the first 2 minutes of this movie, we were dying laughing! The misunderstandings of speech and cultural differences make it so hilarious. Finally laughing at natural differences different people share. Laughing with one another not AT one another! And making fun of the stuff that people get down each other's throats about was so refreshing. This could not have came out at s better time with a the ugliness and uncertainty going on in the world right now, this was a hilarious, much needed, breath of fresh air. Anyone offended over anything in this movie should lighten up and laugh a little. None of us get out of life alive! I really loved this movie and I absolutely pray they do more together!

The Storyline and Acting Was Subpar
santurcedc25 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't expect too much from Tyler Perry regarding this movie. There were some funny scenes in this movie but the storyline went downhill for me when Davi turned out to be straight and not gay having an affair with Tim's mother.

Isha Blaaker acting skills as an heterosexual were very unbelievable in this movie. I preferred his character to be gay and in love with his roommate Tim.

This movie is ok to see if you're high or drunk.
