In Brazil they speak Portuguese. Unfortunately the HBO max version seems to have Spanish dubbed in. I had been hoping to watch it in Portuguese as it is supposedly Brazilian.. It didn't grab my attention at all.

Unbelievably bad

This is an exception to most of the great TV that comes out of Brazil. Wooden acting, clunky plots, unbelievable characters. Worse, many of the actors are dubbed! And they are dubbed badly. I have no idea what language they were originally speaking in, but it can't have been the original text in Portuguese as the dubbing didn't mimic the mouth movements at all. It was incredibly carelessly done.
I couldn't finish this. Part way through episode two was enough for me. Not only the above, but the camerawork was just awful. Odd judders and weird use of filters.
One to avoid.

Poorly produced and acted

Some Brazilian productions can be very good, but the bad ones really very bad! This production has a bad script and actors who appear to be amateurs. The cinematography is a mixture of bad camera angles and poor editing so the scenes seem random at times. The sequence of events seem to happen with no logic, leaving the viewer to wonder how specific events happen to allow the lead actor to always be at the right place at the right time. After a couple of episodes, it all becomes too silly and disconnected to continue watching!
Worth it.
