This series is the best nuTrek series after Picard ,it is way better than Discovery and Lower Decks ,i'm a Trekkie since way back in the beginning of the 90's ,when i started to watch TNG as an alternative to horror movies and i started to want something more cerebral ,i never liked the new uniforms, the new Klingons ,the new Andorians and not even the new Romulans ,but this show is GOOD,just give it a chance.

This episode is ....wow...something different .
marianciobanuz11 November 2021
This episode looks more like a classic Star Trek episode and is probably one of the best exploration episodes since .... i can't even remember. If you were not happy about by the Star Wars feeling (i am not in that category of fans ,because i don't like the computer generated SW animated series) there is you chance to see something very good ,something good enough even for Gene Roddenberry .

Getting better !

It's getting better , still too many flaws and not funny jokes ! But it's improving ! This reminded me of TOS Alice in Wonderland planet episode ! Definitely much better than STD, Picard and first season of Lower Decks ! Good that they are going back to exploration instead of galactic wide threats ! I have big hopes for STP (Star Trek: Prodigy !). And after all its just kids cartoon ! Characters are ok too !

GOOD

I think this ship was made in that Voyager project made by Barclay and Tom Paris' father to bring back Voyager's crew back, because it has a transwarp drive ,(it has a button on the bridge console) ,it has a not too well done Janeway hologram (i think it was done without her) ,with the uniform from Star Trek Generations , without that gizmo which permitted to the holographic doctor from Voyager to leave the ship ,which suggest the ship was made before Voyager's return and with an strange insignia which suggest this was a something experimental and we know from Discovery that all the experiments with hyperdrives for warp speed bigger than 10 of any kind were a total failure.

10 ton of plotholes per every episode
goggolya11 November 2021
Too many fart jokes in a single episode! This is Star Trek, not Cartoon Network.

And why does Gwyn have Jedi powers? Why are they copying Star Wars so obviously?

This episode was painful to watch it had so many plotholes and inconsistencies:

  • Why does a star ship have to land on a planet to do a survey? Have the writers forgotten about the transporter? In the history of Star Trek they've never landed on a planet for a routine survey!

  • They show us that the phasers are set on stun, but later when used they are set to kill.

  • It's mentioned that the tricorders track everyone but later Rok doesn't know who is near her when she uses her tricorder and panics because of this.

  • Jankom Pog is wearing a space suit the whole time but still can smell everything on the planet and hallucinates because of the spore. Space suits should be air proof.

  • How can spores infect a non biological machine like Zero and cause hallucinations? It was stated that he doesn't have a corporeal body and is only controlling the machine body with his mind.

  • How can someone hack a computer and an A. I. with the push of a few buttons when the tech is centuries ahead of what they've got in the Delta Quadrant?

  • Do the writers even know what a slime is? There is a scene with a slime getting stuck. But slimes have a gelatin body and can shapeshift into any form. It's impossible for them to get stuck!

This series is HIGHLY UNDERRATED
batmanforever-9324911 November 2021
This show is much better than Discovery or Lower Decks and recommend it to any kind of trekkie,it has exploration, beautiful visuals and the story is pretty good, this is probably the most 'Star Trek' episode you can imagine. This is not Star Wars it is a true Star Trek show ,when i watched this one i had exactly the same feelings as in the times when i used to watch episodes from the other old shows for the first time, about a peaceful exploration ,when something weird happens, like in a Twilight Zone episode.

Some personal observations
depechemodetrill13 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ship is certainly made before Voyager's return because the Janeway's hologram is wearing the uniform introduced in Generation's and replaced by the Federation somewhere in the half part of the Star Trek Voyager series and the hologram doesn't have that gadget made by Voyager's crew which is allowing holograms to travel outside the ships and because Janeway's hologram is so dumb (she believes the children are cadets although they are not wearing uniforms , they are clueless and they don't have a commander officer) i believe it was made in Janeway's absentia .In the first episodes we can see the ship has a transwarp button in the bridge so we can assume the ship was a failed attempt to create a ship which can bring back the Voyage's crew and this also could explain the weird insignia which is suggesting something experimental made by Starfleet.

A Senior Trekker writes.............

This 24 minute half-episode contains more story telling than half a season of Star Trek Discovery. Within its obvious boundaries it is shaping up rather nicely. Well done to all concerned.
