Lee gets a special chair sent to him and asks that nobody sit in it before he does because it would represent bad luck. Curious Rosemary ends up sitting in the chair first and falls through the floor. Lee ends up telling her why the chair was so special to him and to make it up to him, Rosemary turns their back yard area into Lee's own wood shop spot.
A Mountie from the past comes to Hope Valley to do further investigation on Nathan and the prisoner exchange accident that happened in the Season 7 finale. It seems like this Mountie is holding a grudge against Nathan so Bill is going to find out why.
Lucas' petroleum men strike oil but then it explodes. Luckily, Gowen is close by and comes to help. He tells them they need dynamite to stop the fire. All hands are on deck to save the day. Fiona even volunteers with the men. They succeed.
Ned goes to the infirmary to get his ankle looked at. Faith does the examination and diagnosis but Carson corrects her in front of Ned, Florence, and Molly. She is visibly upset and ends up telling Carson about it. Will there be trouble for this couple?? Hmmm.
Clara and Jesse disagree over Jesse buying Lee's motorcycle.
Lucas finds out his mother's secret and confronts Elizabeth about her not telling him. Elizabeth has a heart to heart with Helen and tells her that love should be fought for. Helen decides to leave Hope Valley in the possibility of reconciling with her husband. After she leaves, Lucas tells Elizabeth that he is hurt because he thought that his parents truly loved each other and wonders how they could've lost that love. Elizabeth tells Lucas what she told Helen, that love should be fought for and that Helen should be the first one to reach out. Lucas then asks Elizabeth what she would know about that. Elizabeth says that his comment was cruel and he walks away. We get a overshot of Elizabeth in the middle of the street with each guy diagonally in front of her (making the perfect triangle). She looks at both and then decides to just walk away.
Honestly this wasn't much of a special episode. I'm hoping things will get better next week.
